map of the Hobart urban area

        Is that 1:1 scale ?

        • +2

          Definitely, Hobart is quite small.

    • 400m²??
Urban area of cities is much larger than their CBD!

Kingston to Bridgewater direct is 35km! All in Hobart urban area covered by free travel.

The greater restriction is travel times for buses before 7am to do such a journey! No bus connections will give you a free ride all the way. (First bus @6:25am–6:51 from Kingston to City misses the last bus before 7am @6:49 to Bridgewater.)

Fares: Adult / Concession (using touch on & off Green card)
        per trip: $2.80-$5.76 / $1.92
Maximum daily: $9.60 / $5.80 if the first boarding is prior to 9am, or $4.80 / $3.10 if the first boarding is after 9am or on weekends

Planning my holiday in Tas on the cheap! Think I'll sleep in & use the buses after 9am😉

The amount of mainlanders that think Tassie have a public rail system. Nahhh Metro is the only rail system :P

    • Who thinks that?
It's been goods trains only since the 70's.
      A mainlander😉

Mainlanders tend to joke about Tasmania - so lacking a passenger rail system plays into that.

They forget the population of Tassie fits into a major mainland city many times over - so suburban rail services are very unlikely because of the small population. Buses are better suited to the hills of Hobart.

As a Politician from Tasmania joked at 10 Days on the Island, Tasmanians have 2 heads, so when they visit the Mainland - they have someone intelligent to talk with😉

Had a meeting one time with Tas Govt Tourism - usual mainlander hired car for 5 days & thought they'd seen everything!

I've spent well over a year, over decades, visiting & hiking so many areas - there's always more to come back for.
