@kkoc3: are you talking about aftermark ram upgrade, as you cant customise on ebay store??
@Its Bill Murray: Yeah, purchase some from eBay and upgrade it.
Can get 32gb for $174. Maybe sell the two 4gb sticks for $30-50.@Its Bill Murray: yep will buy 2 X 16gbs after market and possibly sell 2 X 4gbs .
how do you upgrade the RAM?
Great! bought the Dell G7 17 Laptop 9th Intel i5-9300H 8GB 128GB RTX 2060 for $1,439.20.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/323995859965Good price, wish the batteries were a little bit bigger in those for 17"
Terrible compared to the i7/16gb for $50 more.
But that one just sold out.
Oh no, you made me feel bad! I have to cancel it ASAP and re-order it. Thanks,
Just came back in stock
I cancelled the i5 order, and pick the i7 with RTX2060 one. According to some review, RTX 2070 MaxQ is easily overheating and throttling than RTX 2060.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/anp5rr/rtx_2070_max…
Will depend on the brand of laptop. I think Dells are pretty good at heat dissipation
Quick question - were they pretty responsive to the cancellation request?
@casualty: It was took about couple of minutes for me.
I've been looking for a desktop for quite a while now and was wondering from the general consensus if this desktop is worth the money or should I wait for a better deal.
It comes to $1591 after this coupon is added, thanks in advance.Specifying what the desktop will be used for will help
Gaming and casual everyday day to day stuff. No video editing.
The i7-9700 and RTX2060 will more than suffice for gaming and everyday use.
I got one for the same price for my son before xmas. It's fine but cooling out of the box is terrible. Small case with restricted airflow, crap CPU cooler and Dell opted for a 9cm top fan rather than a 12cm to fill the actual hole in the case. They literally made a bracket that half covers the hole. No front fans installed.
I replaced the top fan with 12cm and new bracket, added a 12cm front fan and bracket, replaced the CPU cooler. Better but cooling still struggles at current Brisbane temps.
It's okay, anyone paying RRP for this has rocks my brains. This list is similarly spec'ed although going the Ryzen 3600 for better price/performance. And you can see it comes to roughly $1500 without a case and CPU cooler, which is fine if you aren't overclocking. This is when parts aren't on sale either. I picked up a Ryzen 3600X for $315 a fortnight ago, and got 3200 16gb corsair RAM for $90. So there's leeway to $1400 getting these on sale. For $1500, the Dell one is decent value, not amazing. I think you'll have temperature and airflow issues with the stock case.
It is cheaper than building it yourself. I was speccing out a similar machine and even though I enjoy building a machine exactly to spec, I had to admit this is cheaper.
Your parts list doesn't have NVMe storage, a second HDD, a case, a wifi/BT module or Windows 10. Plus the i7-9700 is a little faster than the Ryzen 5 3600. I have seen the RTX 2060 available for $450. But that's still $200-300 extra, plus your labour in putting it together.
RTX 2060 seems to be coming down in price with the new AMD card coming out this week, so as always if you can wait, there'll be a better deal along soon. But right now, I think this is pretty good value.
I actually think the model with GTX 1660 Ti for $1319 is better value. By the time ray tracing becomes common in games, you'll be able to buy a better GPU with the $280 you saved.
What I don't understand is why Dell uses the i7-9700 in these. It's a great performer but you'd never put one in your own build, it's $480 compared to $125 for the i3-9100 or $225 for the i5-9400. Dell must have bought a bunch of these processors for cheap.
They don't need NVMe storage, sure a second harddrive but they're cheap as chips these days. They don't need a wifi module if its for gaming, straight ethernet connection or whats the point. The Ryzen 3600 is straight up the best price/performance for mid tier gaming, anything else is a waste of money. Everything else you've said I agree with.
Thanks, i bought the 34inch monitor AW3418DW for $1031.52 .
Is the S2419HGF (24 inch, 1080p, 144Hz) worth it at $295 delivered?
I think so.
Can anyone who recently purhased from Dell Ebay store confirmed if your invoice issued by Dell will show the purchase price with GST before or after you applied an ebay discount code (like this PDELLSACVE code) ?
Thanks
I haven’t bought dell before, but all my other orders with a 20% off code from other sellers show the price before the discount is applied. I don’t think they see it on their end
Before price (ie without the discount).
Do these come with a tax invoice when shipped or must request from seller?
Yes they do
Quick question please. What's better for Photoshop, XPS13 or ZenBook 13?
Just had my Dell XPS 15 (9570) water damaged in my office over the weekend so need a new laptop.
My damaged dell, purchased in 2018, seemed to struggle a bit when hooked up to 2x 60hz 4k monitors while playing video on the laptop screen (while using word/outlook/excel mainly). As in the mouse wouldnt be as smooth compared to my 60hz screens at home. I assume it might have been the integrated graphics card that was letting this down.
Anyone able to recommend a laptop between $1600-2k?
Do you think the below laptop would be able to handle this.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Dell-XPS-15-Laptop-7590-9th-…
What do people think of this XPS 2 in 1? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-XPS-15-2-in-1-Laptop-8th-Ge…
Can our in-house experts advise which of the following two laptops is a better value for money:
Dell G3 15 3590 Gaming Laptop i5-9300H 8GB RAM 256GB SSD GTX1650 4GB - $899
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-G3-15-3590-Gaming-Laptop-i5…Dell G3 15 3590 Gaming Laptop i7-9750H 16GB RAM 256GB SSD GTX1650 4GB - $1,159
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-G3-15-3590-Gaming-Laptop-i7…
I can see that i7-9750H has six cores & 12MB of Cache compared to 4 cores & 8MB of cache for i5-9300H
Also, to upgrade 8GB RAM (2 x 4GB) to 16GB you will have to buy 2 x 8GB RAM.Is it worth paying extra $260 for the 2nd laptop option?
I don't need it for gaming but need it to safely and easily run different tasks simultaneously and also for video and photo editing.
Neither as the G series are gaming laptops. But if I had to choose then I would go option 2 if you really need 4K video editing, otherwise save your money.
Good price for option 2, it's still $1999 at JB.
The one at Jb has 512GB SSD. Obviously, it doesn't justify the price difference.
Similar they sell option 1 with 512 GB SSD for $1599.
Thanks mate. The way the technology goes, I may be doing some 4K video editing in not a distance future.
Saying that, when I looked at other reasonable DELL laptops, they seem to be more expensive and have lower specs.
Is there any particular model you may recommend to save money but that will easily handle video editing and multi-tasking?Any recent i7 with 16gb ddr4 (min) and m.2 NVMe SSD 256gb(min) in a slim chassis with long battery life will do :)
FYI, gaming laptops with dedicated graphics drain the battery pretty quick (2-4hrs) even when you’re not gaming. If you’re doing lots of 4K video editing on the go then you definitely don’t want a gaming laptop.
@MuddyClear: Thank you for your reply.
I am a bit worried though that without the dedicated graphics it won't handle the processes properly.
The battery life doesn't concern me, as I will mostly use it as a desktop connected to a monitor.
1. Do you know if there are any "non-gaming" laptops with dedicated graphics and similar specs that will be cheaper?
2. If I was to go with option 1, I could buy 2 x 8GB RAM for about $95. So the total cost to me will come to $985. I guess the question is if it's worth to pay $175 more and get the option 2 which has better processor?@bob19: I do like it to be under the magical $1k figure but perhaps that’s just me. I5 will do the job too, just won’t be as snappy or you might not notice much difference. Just note that modern i5 is going to be faster than i7 several gens back, which was fine for video editing. It’s all relative…how fast you want to go? You want top speed now then pay extra for the luxury.
@MuddyClear: Thank you for all your help.
Hi guys, struggling to decide here between these two for web browsing / audio production (reaper and waves VST's) / GTA 5 on half decent settings
Dell XPS 15 7590 - i59300H - 8gb RAM - GTX 1650 - FHD
And the
Dell Inspiron 15 7590 - i7 9750h - 16gb RAM - GTX 1650 - UHD
I can see the XPS having better build quality but clearly lacking in CPU and ram department.
It seems the Inspiron may have some thermal issues that have mostly been fixed with a BIOS update and potentially undervolting/re-pasting.
Normally XPS has better quality but the same XPS module had been used for almost 5 years. I think Inspiron 15 is a better choice.
I tried both and i bought XPS because it had a quality product feel compared to Inspiron .
Looking into things further, I think the Vostro with FHD is a better deal, looks to have been cheaper in the past however..
Has anyone ordered any dell on eBay? Have you received delivery dispatch email? I'm thinking to order it but it says it will get delivered by 14 Feb.. need it by 8feb.
I wouldn't risk it. From past experiences, it has always taken about 3-4 weeks.
Just got confirmation. Expected date is 10/02.
got my HP one already!
Is your order looking likely to arrive by the ETA?
I cancelled it.
@The Value: Did you end up getting another laptop?
I hear some people have been pushed back till 20/2.
@zobragin: Changed my mind.
DIY'd my ps4 pro into a portable case instead.
Order placed a week ago and no confirmation mail yet.
They must be getting smashed with orders from both eBay and their official website.
Products keep going out of stock then coming back in stock again.
Not sure how they are going to fulfil orders within ETA at this rate.
Other threads are saying the machines are CTO - custom built from factory and shipped directly.
Dell has always been built to order, whetver custom or not. Particularly for the higher end models.
Also, it's Lunar New Year so expect further delays.
