VA
Is that a positive or negative?
yeah nah
Negative
Huge negative
Awful ghosting
Everyone plays it down but my Tn from 2014 has better colours and better response time and none of the ghosting
Just get an ips and save yourself the headacheNot all VA have bad ghosting. Cannot speak to this monitor specifically, It of course pays to do actual research per model. Once upon a time it was, but has not been for many years now. I've had more monitors than i can keep track of over the years spanning all types except OLED, including VAs that ghost, and still have an LG VA 144hz on one of the PC's. That VA has zero ghosting in any games i've played once setup correctly. You would have to go to extreme lengths to find any. It's colours and general image quality are noticably lacking compared to some other monitors, but it was also considerably cheaper.
Everyone plays it down but my Tn from 2014 has better colours
Beyond out of the box colour and gamma accuracy, there's absolutely nothing true about this statement. Colour depth and contrast is the entire point of VA LCD technology, and it destroys IPS at this as well, which is why it's the dominant technology for TV displays.
Close the Reddit tabs and go outside, but all of that being said I wouldn't bother with this monitor above $350.
I've had both IPS and VA ultrawides and definitely liked the VA more, its very personal preference though. Unless you're shelling out for OLED you're just weighing different negatives.
It's a good monitor but you will get a bit of ghosting. Not a problem on most games but some it can be annoying. Your eyes do get used to it though. For this price it's a bargain
Compared this to another AOC curved VA playing D4, can’t say I noticed any ghosting on both.
Great monitor at phenomenal price. I've been using 1 for +/- 3 years now, and it's a workhorse for both WFH and COD.
Agreed, I paid 605.47 last year. I cant go back to straight now.
That's what he said
Same. Using this for WFH and Dota2 since its launch. Amazing monitor.
Grabbed one, thank you :)
No brainer at that price unless a KVM is important to you
Would this be good for non-gaming office-type work? Or overkill with 144HZ? Thank you!
Works superbly for work.
Curved ultrawide is a game changer for working from home. And at this price it’s a no brainer.
What makes it good for WFH? I have a 34" ultrawide but not curved so interested to know.
Maybe after work, you can start gaming straight away. Lol
I find way less eye strain when it is curved. We have the straight ultrawides in the office, and I find myself getting a headache on them, a lot more turning of the head. The curve minimises that. Makes it far more comfortable.
Thanks OP. Bought this after missing the S65VC deal with the $200 trade in. This suits me better anyway with the gaming focus and don't need KVM or bothering with trade in. Cheers.
Is this ATL? Seems to be right?
Haven't bought my PC yet, and many monitors deals
I have this and enjoy using it for both gaming and work, but there’s a noticeable amount of ghosting when scrolling on pages with white text on a dark background. Changing the response time setting didn’t help much.
This or G3223Q?
G3223Q is IPS and I'm personally waiting the price to be reduced more on Black Friday to get one.
I don't have the space!
Think vertical

Thank
Samsung 🥱
Gaming and office, you pick
copped one, thanks op
$385 shipped for this is a steal
will be amazing for my uses (photo editing, yes I use colour calibration hardware anyway, some gaming, music production etc)
now the question is do I get a stand to put my 27" curved monitor above it.. or the 24" above it.. or neither because having a monitor on top is a gimmick that (profanity) your neck up.If your desk is wide enough, might try 34 & 27 side by side. I found mine have exact same height. So I don’t feel much dragging windows from one screen to the other.
I'm ditching my side by side 27 + 24 setup for this monitor alone, constantly craning my neck to the left has definitely not been great but I honestly think a monitor above this ultrawide would just make me crane my neck UP instead.. so yeah I think just the solo 34" ultrawide should suffice.
I've got this, not sure what's with the all the ghosting comments. Mine is👌👌
I’ve got this and really not a fan. The VA panel just kills me. Colours look so blown out/washed out. Blacks are grey.
This one definitely has pretty bad colours out of the box - if you haven't done so already it's probably worth calibrating based on RTINGS values here then increasing brightness to taste.
May not entirely resolve your issue, but should probably help a bit. There's some variation between units so reusing someone else's calibration values isn't likely to be 100% correct for yours, but unless you're doing colour-sensitive work, those values should generally be close enough and definitely an improvement over the stock settings.
Will this work with M3 MacBook Air for WFH? Via USBC
NO.
This just basic panel driven through standard ports like hdmi / display port for display data. There is a usb hub which is driven through separate usb cable (you know the one which has usb-b as on printer cables).
If you want display driven through usb-c / power delivery and usb hub/ kvm look into
S / P or U series and read the spec sheet carefully. ✌️
Surely you could use a USB-C - display port adapter to get it working fine with the Macbook Air?
If only display out is what you’re after then sure. But people using macbooks are so used to using one cable for everything (display / power / hub etc …)
I've used this with a USB C DisplayPort cable with a 2020 MBP 14"
Never had a curved monitor before, do they work well as a second monitor side by side? Or are they better suited for a primary monitor in the centre of desk?
I have been using this for nearly a year. Such a steal for 385$. You can do whatever you want with it, big good monitor.
kinky
Had mine since they first released them. It's a great screen and even better at this price. Use mine for work with hdmi from laptop, no problems. Main use is video games and everything looks great, if I recall I may have used some settings from rtings.
This or S3423DWC
Same… ive been considering S3423DWC too with a macbook.
Anyone has insights or advice?
I’ve used my S3423DWC since mid-2022 at home with an iMac and then upgraded to a Mac mini at the start of the year. Hands down best monitor I’ve ever owned. I’ve got a similar Samsung at work so can vouch for the USB-C connecting-and-doing-everything factor being awesome with a MacBook too.
I’d honestly look on marketplace for an Alienware oled 34” AW3423DWF they can be had for $200-300 more than this and are worth paying the extra for.
Is the pixel shift noticeable?
Not at all
34 inch oled for $300,
youve lost your marbles
Got one!! Thanks so much. Have been looking for an ultrawide, watched some reviews and this one seems perfect for me.
Yawn
3 years ago people were frothing over the Xiaomi $500 ultrawides, this monitor is an absolute steal. I remember buying a BenQ 24" 1080p 10 years ago for nearly $300.
I own the Xiaomi 34" curve, do you think there's a significant difference with Dell?
I haven't used the Dell and I no longer own the Xiaoimi but I don't think there's a point of going from one VA ultrawide to another unless it comes with a resolution or size change.
I'm not coping, it's literally just a monitor and I could care less - I don't even use ultrawides anymore, currently running 2x 4k 28" 150hz displays but I do miss the ultrawide experience when playing Forza.
@Riceplate: Get a hobby
Agree with this spend a little extra and get the oled panel used or new if you can afford it this va panel is a waste of money IMO
How much is a little extra though? Are you able to suggest an OLED at this size for a little more?
Does this support VESA mounting or is it too heavy?
7.71kg is not heavy unless you're using an aluminum mount
Dang it, ordered 2 days ago (15th) on Dell site, paid $428 without the code. Current order state "In Production".
Anyone knows if there is a chance to get this 10% off fixed somehow? Appreciate for any input.Cancel or return first order, reorder now with the code?
Thanks for reply. But seems can no longer do those since it’s ’in Production’. :-(
Okay good news: Dell has issued a $42.9 refund.
Here is what I did (seems many steps, but quite easy):
- From order details page, clcik [Contact customer support] button
- Choose "My Rewards/Discounts" for "Select Issue"
- Click [Create Service Request]
- Then select "Promo Code/Coupon/Discount not applied" for "Select a topic"
- Describe what happend, attach some relevant screenshots
- Click [Submit] buttonThe whole process took just a few hours. Hope this helps someone. :-)
THUMB UP FOR DELL!
Have a chat with them. May be you can just reject the delivery 🚚 of the first one if you order another.
Using Xiaomi 1st 34" black smear is very bad, great to use as work screen though. Got a cheap 24"Lenovo VA 280hz and wow hard to notice any black smearing. Not all VA's are equal for sure!
I just purchased 2 of them. But the total price increased to $771.20, which is $385.6 per each
I do NOT know how Dell does the calculation…They have a -$1 rounding adjustment on the final calculation for some reason, when you buy two or more it's still stays as a $1 total rounding adjustment for the whole sale.
Thanks.
I agree with you
Don't really need this for the next 6 - 12 months. Is there any forseeable reason why I won't get a better deal this time next year?
Also, how does this go on a monitor arm?
Finally, has anyone used it with Ableton?
TIA!
No one would know I believe. If you are happy to wait or to pay about $100 extra if you miss this one, I would say waiting is a financially wise decision compared to just buying one that you don't know you would ever need, especially electronic item (considering their warranty running out).
waiting for a 32 inch deal
For work, how would one of these compare to 2x 27" 1080P?
In terms of physical dimensions, the ultrawide 34" will be approximately the same height as a 27" 1080p but the width will be about 30% wider. So, two 27" 1080p side by side will be wider than the ultrawide.
However, the pixel density of the ultrawide will be much better giving a much clearer image. For example l, you get 1440 pixels within the same height vs 1080. Just for the pixel density alone I would go for the ultrawide. Anything above 24" looks horrible at 1080p.
A better question would be 34" WQHD vs 2x 27 QHD. This setup might be better for work as you get same pixel density but significantly more horizontal pixels. Having seperate displays can be good for holding different windows, vs placing windows within a single monitor. Also, with two 27" you have the option of one or both of the monitors being in portrait, if the stand supports it, which can be good for documents.
You can compare monitor setups using this tool.
https://multimonitorcalculator.comI had experienced both setups and would pick the ultra wide curved single monitor over 2 normal monitors any day, unless I have a very specific use case.
Thanks for the heads up, OP! I’ve been needing a second monitor for my office, and I’ve had one of these for my gaming setup at home for years—it’s been awesome. Even better, I got to use some Dell reward points too, so I’m extra stoked! 😊
quick question(probably not very quick),
i got a dell s2721qs and a dell u2515h and a dell D6000 docking station.
any advise if i should buy this s3422dwg for my new macmini m4? is this compatible?
i hope can still use my d6000 dock as i need to plug/unplug the usb-c cable for my work computer(windows). or i should get a new hub?(as i don't need PD cause macmini will need a power cable regardless)
thanks!
Thanks OP. Bought to replace Xiaomi 34 that recently died.
I have been using this since about year and half. There is one dead pixel. Note that DELL doesn't offer a brand new replacement, they only offer a refurbished product for replacement. They say that even the replacement will have warranty but I'm not buying anything considering just the warranty period.
So your happy having a dead pixel? That would annoy the shit outta me
Arrived today as a second one of these. Amazing price compared to what was a considered a deal way back when I got this model before. With FX rate trajectory, if your on the fence this is close as the lowest price I suspect it will go. But I probably thought that the last time…
Got this delivered yesterday and the Startrack guy asked if they were on sale because he has so many to deliver lol
I am used to having 2 x 22' monitors where I can move/park apps and windows.
Would this let me have 3 windows open/visible across the screen without having to scroll left/right to read content if that makes sense?
TIA
If you are using Windows (not Mac) you can snap the windows into left + right i.e. 2 windows OR left top + left bottom + right top + right bottom i.e. 4 windows.
I generally use one window on left, one on right and another on laptop. That's generally sufficient.
There is picture in picture mode but that's basically to display multiple inputs on the single screen.
I currently have 2 x 24" on FHD. On one screen I like to snap a window to the left and one to the right, and the other screen I have full screen app.
Is there a quick way to replicate this on a 34" monitor? Even if I can get 3 windows evenly spread I'll be happy with it.
The easier way you can do that is one window in left top, one in left bottom and the main one right.
Alternatively, you can also have the monitor in picture in picture mode and connect the laptop to HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 (in this case, the monitor behaves like 2 different screens, should be same as how you use it now, but the difference is that now you have 2 square screens instead of 2 rectangular monitos). There are a few different options on how can split the screen with these 2 inputs.
Hey I just checked this. Windows added a few more layouts. There are 2 layouts that splits the screen vertically. One splits the screen into 3 equal vertical pieces and the other one 25% | 50% | 25%.
I hope this makes sense. You can consider the wide monitors for your use case.
