  • How well does this monitor handle games that are usually played in 16:9 aspect ratio? Do you end up with black bars on the sides or what does it do to the picture? I would imagine newer games would handle things better?

    • Yes you will get black bars on the sides for a few non compatible games, i recommend anybody to keep a spare 16:9 aspect ration monitor if they are a keen gamer

  • A query for the monitor gurus on this forum please - which one would you recommend between this monitor & the Dell UltraSharp U3419W 34" for approximately $300 including postage & stand/arm (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/876675). Main uses would be productivity, browsing & watching shows. Thank you!!

IPS panel will be nicer for colour/contrast, but not by a lot. The main downside is the 60z refresh rate meaning it's basically already obsolete if you ever intend on playing any games on it.

But for just browsing/tv/work stuff it's probably fine, I'd still go the Dell though purely because I don't think the difference between VA and IPS is THAT big especially with colour profiles, but the difference between 60hz and 144hz is definitely that big.

      • Thank you, that makes it a lot clearer!!

  • Guys, what's your opinion on the below one. It is coming with a KVM as well. I guess the downside is the refresh rate i.e. 100Hz.

  • I'm on the fence still. Has anyone got theirs yet, are you happy with it?

    • I'm using it for WFH. There's nothing outstanding or mind-blowing stuff but it's good. I did face a fade butn in because of the windows tray and a dead pixel. But not noticeable and does not bother me. However, when I asked for the replacement they only offered refurbished, not a brand new replacement. Apparently that's their policy. The problem with the policy is that the refurbished monitor could actually be older or used more than my current monitor.

Pretty sure that policy won't stand up if you mention consumer protections. You bought a new product, you're entitled to a new product. Tell them you'll contact the ACCC if they don't replace it with a new one.

  • Thanks . I got one and its an awesome monitor.

  • Can anyone recommend a single monitor arm for this? Been reading about how the recess makes it incompatible with some popular mounts

Got cash back from Shopback - came down to 367.59

    • How does this stuff even work? Never used any of the cashback offers before. Do you literally just shop normally after clicking the Dell link on the Shopback page?

      • +1

Basically sign up to the cash back company - there are 3-4, I use ShopBack and Cashrewards(lazy to sign up to any more). Then you access the website through the cash back’s company’s website and do the transaction. Typically there are rules - like no PayPal or sometimes no GC to pay etc but the rules are usually quite easily explained. And the money goes into the cash back account rather than back to you direct. which you can use for future transactions through the account. The main downside is that it can take months to get the cash back money into your account- 3-4 months sometimes. So it is not an instant reward, it rewards ongoing use.

The most common thing I do is I buy gift cards using the cash back accounts- typically fast cash back(within a few days).

  • Anyone who got this having trouble selecting anything higher than 1920x1080?

I had a quick google and found a few threads mentioning the same thing but hoping someone might have found a solution here.

Wifey is using this monitor to her work laptop which only has 1 USB-C (used currently for charging) and 1 HDMI port.
I connected it by HDMI to HDMI and tried fiddling with the refresh rate from 50/60/100/120hz and each setting still only allows me to select 1920x1080.

Wondering if I need to buy a USB-C to DP to fix it, but then I'd need a USB-C dock to allow charging at the same time.

I was facing the same issues on my work macbook pro - using a USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 Cable fixed it for me..

Thanks got a USB-C to DP cable and it's good now. Just need to find a dock now so she can charge at the same time!

  • this vs the https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/880484

    what are anyones thoughts?

The monitor in the deal you sent (S3423DWC) includes a USB-C port, which allows you to connect and charge a laptop or tablet using a single cable. This could help in reducing desk clutter. On the other hand, the monitor in this deal (S3422DWG) offers a higher refresh rate and lower response time, making it a better choice for gaming. I purchased the S3422DWG on Sunday night, with an estimated delivery date of the 20th. Based on the Dell website, it looks like you may not receive this monitor until January if you order it today, so please keep that in mind.

  • Is this better than samsung oddysey g5 for same price
