2 Months Free Extension on Zomato Gold [Existing Members]

100

Just got a notification from the Zomato app.

To obtain 2 months free on Zomato Gold simply pay via Zomato when dining out to get the free extension. Offer ends midnight Sunday.

What is Zomato gold?

It used to be called Urbanspoon, an app that lets people review restaurants and post pictures of the menu food etc.

It's since been reintroduced as Zomato and they now have started Zomato gold which allows users access to 1+1 food, 2+2 drinks and discounts at various venues.

Update: just got an email about it. It seems you need to spend a minimum of $10 for it to be eligible

  • I wonder if anyone actually uses it and finds it useful…

    • Its massive in many countries outside Australia. Within Aus, its limited but trying to grow.

    • I haven’t yet, but I got mine during the new year sale plus 25% off so it was about $21 for the annual membership, I’ll be able to get that back in 1-2 meals, am just disappointed in the selection of places that offer 1+1 food though. I love eatclub though and can’t recommend it enough to people.

      • There used to be way more places. I signed up day one the second it was out for RRP. No regrets as a heap of places are longer there. I tend to use it more for drinks these days but some places still have their own stupid rules like no usage Saturday after a certain time.

I've noticed the same, I was using eatclub a lot at the time at venues I frequented, I didn't like. He idea of paying full price so I waited. A lot of establishments have also swapped the 1+1 food for 2+2 drinks, but I don't drink!

Good to see they're doing a flat % off but wish it were higher like eatclub.

Used it once, restaurant list is pretty mediocre for the most part.

      • Pelicana's discount is good when eatclub sells out. 25% off is better than no discount

        • Is eatclub like fightclub but instead of fighting you eat?

I have used my membership a fair bit. There are quite a few places near where I live as well as near my work (Melbourne CBD) that offer 1 + 1 meals. Only a couple of good bars with 2 + 2 drinks though.
A lot less of a hassle than Groupon coupons - Zomato Gold has no booking requirements, very few restrictions and have never had to explain to staff what it is.
Membership is definitely best suited/value if you typically dine with one other person.

      • I can relate with Groupon, can be a real hassle to claim at times, have you given eatclub a shot if you're in the CBD? I'm a big fan of theirs, was actually reluctant to get onto Zomato gold as it's not as extensive. Also has more popular resutrants on there, many have a 50% off new to app discount, some are restricted to times, some all day, but they're pretty good :)

Big fan of EatClub as it provides a flat discount which applies to drinks and can be used for more than 2 people.

Cons of EatClub is that you can't arrange the location until the day of, limited number of discounts available at each restaurant and it doesnt come with the perks of the zomato app (eg. Good search filters and reliable ratings).

          • @live4bargain: I find that they have roughly the same discounts on there now, so the places I often visit I know when they go live.

The search filter has improved now, so you can search by distance and stuff, but I still quickly Google or check Zomato for reviews

I didn't get my extension despite participating the last time around. Then, trying to contact them through their support is horrible cause there is not follow up and apparently you have to remain connected to receive a reply.

    • It might be targeted. I've used gold payment a bunch of times before it was posted on ozbagain as my favourite bubble tea place supports it and never got an extension.

      • Did you get the pop up notification for it?

        • Nope

        • I just got a notification 5 minutes ago. Maybe they do it in waves I don't know?

      • I received a pop up notification for it both times around.

      • Update: no email. Will contact the later today

I was just reminded when I posted this and have just contacted them too!

They said to wait until the end of the weekend. But it took them 30 mins to reply to one message of "I haven't received the bonus, how and when does it come through?"

And 20 mins for another reply. Support team is rubbish.

Anyway, they said that an email should come through. I will update when the weekend is over.

Zomato is sneakily moving away from 1 for 1 and giving % off instead. They say uo to 40% off, but If you do a search, surprise surprise, only ONE restaurant with 40% off and ONE with 30% off. Quite disappointing.

    Support is absolutly ridiculous too.

    • Agreed, it's why I didn't jump onto it during the 10% off or whatever promo, they were replacing them with 2+2 drinks instead of 1+1 food. Not sure if that's on Zomato or the restaurant though.

I jumped on it this time because I could probably make it back, the deals haven't been fantastic as you say. But I'm hoping that they add restaurants that I "wanted to try anyway" and would've otherwise paid full price for.

      Support is rubbish.
