Hmm, can't find flights from sydney :(

    • +1

Only Premium Economy from Sydney and Melbourne. Business class from Brisbane and Adelaide.

      • +1

        Right, no wonder. Thanks!

  • +2

Am i doing something wrong, SYD - SIN, Prem Econ return, I'm still seeing 94,000 miles per passenger

    • You need to have the correct flight numbers under the promotion, and then select both flights and the reduced points total will show then.

    • -1

This promotion is not valid for flights from or to SYD

Does anyone know if I cancel how the miles take to be returned so I can book again? Thanks

    • +2

From memory miles deposited back within the next day or so as I have in the past also cancelled my flight.

    • Not sure on how long it takes to be returned, but there is a USD$75 re-deposit of miles for award tickets / upgrade fee involved.

Ok definitely weren’t charged a cancellation fee as I flew them last year. Maybe I was lucky. Also I did this through the website if that helps.

        • Was gonna say that you'd be able to provide more insight on the fees. That's good to know, maybe bansharkfin can do so without incurring a fee as well.

          • @squarepants: I'm on hold atm will let you know :)

Update: they said it can take 3 days I asked if there was any quicker way so I can make another booking she said she will do it as an exception 2-3hrs and no fee was talked about

  • So is it 21% off the miles listed in the link? Or has the discount already been applied? Trying to figure out if I can get a return trip…

    • +1

The spontaneous escape examples on the website are the discounted amounts. Eg 51% discount
When you search/book flights on the main website the full value of points is shown, but when all the flights are selected the total shown will reduce accordingly if the flights are eligible.

  • Anyone know if QANTAS ever does this with Frequent Flyer Points?

    • Rarely on business class, can’t remember the last one…probably 2017…. Virgins last one was early 2018 for biz class.

      • Cheers mate that's helpful . Economy or premium economy would be good too hey

  • Waiting for a discount from SIN to HKG A380 suite. The once-in-the-life experience usually only costs 40k pts.

    • +4

You'll wait a while as most of the seats have been taken up by other member through Alaska Airlines redemption.

Early December Alaska Airlines released Singapore Redemption for cheap as and so many people snapped it up. You were able to get First Class flying Vietnam-Signapore-Beijing-Singapore for a ridiculous 37.5k. Some savvy travelers even found first class to Beijing-Singpore-London-Singapore for 37.5k.

      • wow…those were some awesome finds for First Class travel!

      • +1

May I know where do we find this sort of promotion details? (any website specifically for this?) Thanks in advance!

        • Yes I would also like to know and jump on the wagon.

          • @Pika79: Sadly that wagon has passed and Singapore has looked down nearly all of their class first awards redemption.

  • How are people accumulating KrisFlyer miles? Just through flying?

I'm wanting to go to the Maldives in December with Singapore Air and have half a million QANTAS points doing nothing. Would much rather KrisFlyer points.

    • +5

Amex membership reward points…..transferred before the 2018 Virgin and 2019 Amex devaluation.

    • +1

Krisflyer points are hard to come by these days.

    • QFF never appealed to me, so I stick with SQ, VA and UA.

      SQ - Singapore
      VA - Virgin
      UA - United (Star Alliance)

    • St George Amplify card.

  • I've used the spontaneous escapes promotion several times in the past and it has always been fantastic!

I am planning to do so again in June/July, and wish I could have these rates then!

    • Telling me…..I need to book for March, and was hoping. <110k South Africa return would be nice. :(

      • Jo'burg's usually on the list for Spontaneous Escapes, although that's just from Singapore. Melbourne though seems to have dropped out :/

  • -1

Free booze on Singapore airlines international flights.

    • Not exactly alone in that perk though.

    • Just like every non budget long haul??

  • +1

Where is the best place to purchase points to transfer to Krisflyer?

    • +1

Buying points is a ripoff unless you really need to. Velocity is slightly cheaper than buying off Amex for $25 per 1000 points which you equates to 500 KrisFlyer miles.

      • Is Starwood/Marriott any cheaper when they run promos to buy points?

        • +1

IMO Business case just doesn’t stack up with “purchased” hotel points (either for hotel rooms or transfer). In the end buying points might shave off a small part of a $ Biz flight, but that saving is foregone in the points and credits you forego buying on points.

I have never paid for points, only ever got credit card bonus points, referral points or normal spend points.

      • LOL, $4000 of points gets you a return flight to Europe in first class with some programs.

        • Would love an example ? I presume your $4000 converted to points and a first class flight would also include taxes (or not!)?

  • Don't forget to get your transit voucher at Changi if on transit!

    • -3

You don't get the transit voucher on awards tickets.

      • +1

Yes you do. I’ve had it before.

      • You don't get it on codeshare. I redeemed velocity points for VA flight code shared and on Sing metal and no voucher for me :(

      • You don't get the transit voucher on awards tickets.

I can confirm that this is incorrect. I'm in Changi right now, flew in on an SIA ticket that was purchased with points, and had no problem collecting the voucher.

  • Just a rant here. I tried to book a Scoot flight with my KrisFlyer miles last week. When I got to the confirmation page it tells me my points redemption failed with no reason given. Since then I've been on the phone/email to scoot and Singapore Airlines and both are pointing the finger at one another passing me back and forth. To date, I still don't have a booking confirmed and no answer as to why my redemption failed. So yeh, beware of KrisFlyer

  • +3

FYI you can convert your Virgin points to Krisflyer miles: https://www.pointhacks.com.au/krisflyer-velocity-conversion-…

    • Conversion is at 1.55 compared to 1.35 :(

      • So Amex is a better way to collect KF? Or are there any other ways?

  • just booked weekend to eat some chilli crab then come home

    • nice. you guys get business class! flight timing is not too flash though.

  • damn no MEL business :(

  • +1

Come celebrate with us! For this month only, enjoy 51% off when you redeem a flight on Spontaneous Escapes. Yes, that’s right, we are offering an EXTRA 21% off, on top of our usual 30% discount for redemption bookings to selected destinations in the Singapore Airlines and SilkAir network.

I'm not sure if they understand how discounts stack. They don't stack additively. Either the total is less than 51% off, or the extra discount is more than 21%.

  • How can i get this deal if i dont have points ?

    • +2

You can fly around the world a few times with SIA immediately to build up points, then use those points for this deal. ;)

    • Apply for an amex reward MR credit card, 2 MR =1 kris flyer

  • The once shining star of best airlines has spent such an effort making records on clumsy loyalty torture.
Give me a naked price without stuffing me around please. Singapore is great but the busy life left little time for friendliness.

The S$20 voucher is also good outside the customs area but they made us fill out lots of paperwork only upon return to send us to the e-gate and the papers were never looked at. Free city tours are so popular that it may take 3 hrs to book, 6 hrs till you get your turn and if the weather changes one loses it all.

  • Cant find any of these discounted flights even though I have double checked carefully I am choosing the ones that are available. Has anyone scored a hit at all?

    • cancel that, found plenty. got to select the flight then it shows the discounted points in the popup.

      • No idea what I'm doing wrong, I've checked the flight numbers match up to the ones in the ad, travel all within Feb and still I don't get the discount.

        • you need to go all the way through to the final booking stage I think.

  • I travel Sydney - Singapore a few times a year, and I feel QFF has a bit more value. A normal economy flight is 25k points on QFF but a check on Kris Flyer website shows it is 56k points Sydney-Singapore. 56k QFF points will fly you business Sydney to Singapore. Not sure if I'm missing something here? Or maybe QFF is just better for this route?

    • one way economy SQ SAVER award, not ADVANTAGE, is 28k syd-singapore and less taxes than qff.

  • Thinking about transferring Velocity points to Kris but cannot check flights ex ADL to SIN specials.
I cannot proceed to see the special price as i don't have enough points.
    Am i missing something?

    • +1

Once you click on the flights you want the total points should show on that page even if you don't have enough points to proceed.

  • Just converted from Vel to Kris and booked a business class ticket. Incredible deal.

    • worth the hit for availability. cant get that on VA or QF.

  • How do you get the discount to apply? Do you have to go business saver or is advantage OK as well?

When I price it out, it comes to 221,000 points (flight numbers match with promotion page) and it says I don't have enough miles. I click proceed and it switches to money instead of points flight search.

    • It needs to be Business Saver. Waste of points selecting Advantage flights, although they still reduce. Once you select/click the particular flights at full points value, the booking summary on the same page will show the reduced points value+taxes. Not sure how you got a combo of flights showing 221k though….?
