  • Who has found Zomato Gold to be of good value so far?

There's only a select number of places that offer it in a worthy way (ie, not for dumpling or sushi train restaurants that discount one plate, maybe worth $4 off). Most of the deals are for drinks, which is terrible value if you don't drink. It's alright, but I would expect more restaurants to come up before it's actually worth its value. At the moment, eatclub seems a lot better. This is especially true if you eat in groups often.

Also, the fact that you can now only unlock it once per day also means that you can't have dinner and dessert in one day, which again, is bad value. I am disappointed with the restaurant selection so far, many of which are repeats of eatclub restaurants, where you can get discount off the entire bill, including drinks and no matter how many dishes. That means if you purchase an entree, you can get discount off that too with eatclub (especially good if there is a 40% discount), but with ZG, you can only get one dish for free.

      • Just don't go to the places that are sushi trains. For the places with drinks I just get drinks and then dinner at another place with gold (2 memberships). Ive used it 80 times since launch and it's great though a bunch of my favourites left or changed from food to drinks. Its especially worth it for cheap Asian places and brunch if you don't order drinks on top. It really depends on your habits I don't usually order entrees and eat just with my gf.

    • From my experience, it depends on where you're located. In my area at least, majority of participating restaurants are cafes over dining restaurants. A quick search on their site, filtered by "Zomato Gold partner", will allow you to see what places are within your travelling distance and if you think it'll be worth it.

Other than that, I usually ask the waiters what on their menu is not available to use with zomato gold to prevent any bill shock. Most restaurants will have certain items restricted, e.g. daily specials, price caps, etc. so worth making it a habit.

For a 12 month subscription, I think it's tremendous value given you can use this on a daily frequency, even weekly would still be worth $29-$60.

      • It's usually just specials and set menus/share plates not included. Never tried to order an individual dish and been rejected. I did face places with minimum spends but that was not allowed and they got removed. Honestly I'm obsessed with gold don't think I've gotten more value out of a subscription ever.

      • What's the value proposition over Eatclub or the Entertainment Book which has far more venues?

    • Just like a gym membership, they make money from the people that buy it but never use it. I think I bought my zomato membership 4 months ago.

I was planning on using it at a hamburger joint but one of the reviews said they didn't accept their zomato gold even though it's on the app.

If you work/live near a bunch of decent restaurants that are participating on the 1+1 food offers, then it will pay for itself.

      • If you live in inner suburbs there are heaps of choices. No real reason not use it imo even if you just go for brunch once a week with gold over a year that's $1000 of savings.

  • Was going to post this as well.. for $29.50 it's good value, you will get that back by using twice. But as mentioned it really depends what area of Melbourne you live, out in the east there seems to be quite a few good places as well in the CBD.

  • I've got the Zomato Gold membership since August and have saved heaps. Definitely been using it less than in the beginning with all other choices out there.
I find it of great value for breakfast or brunch as you'd usually only get 1 meal each. So instead of paying $50-60 for 2 meals and 2 drinks we only spend approx. $30.
The rule changes make it less attractive and also the fact that each business deals with it in a different way. Some are very welcoming and some aren't at all. By all means if you don't want to give away a free meal, please don't participate.
