find me one that is free with 120K points. Easier said than done

      • +7

I know I'm living in the past but that's what the old ANZ deal was!

        • +1

          I dont disagree

        • +2

Looking at my Amex PE for $149 per year, this is probably better value. Was hoping we would see the 75k QFF $0 annual again…Westpac still offer it.

    • @SrMoure - $150 for 120k Qantas points is still a cracker deal in my book. Be grateful you can still get big sign up bonuses at a good price.

Even paying an annual fee, it’s still a cheap way to acquire business class flights.

  • Seems good.

Not as good as previous deals from a couple years ago, but better than nothing (:

    • +1

I reckon that deal isn't coming back anymore

      • I'm guessing the banking royal commission had something to do with it

        • More to do with the RBA capping fees I reckon, more than the Royal comission.

          • @jaygee: Yeah perhaps.

Why did I get a downvote for my comment though. Geez people! Whose sensibility did I offend?

      • It won't if people keep signing up to these deals

    • what were the previous deals?

    • +2

The cap on interchange fees has really crimped premium credit card offers.

  • -5

$425 annual fee kills the deal

    • +7

Comes down to $150 with the cashback. Still worth it for heavy point collectors

      • +1

and two Qantas Lounge passes can be sold for $70.

        • +5

how does one sell these lounge passes?

          • @Smol Cat: How to get them first? I never got mine from st george signature visa card…

            • +1

@kolorijo: Ring the credit card concierge and they put passes into your Qantas account.

            • +1

@kolorijo: For westpac you subscribe AND buy something from the qantas shop. I gave up

            • @kolorijo: St George's where digital ones attach to your qff membership.. But you had to ring up for them from memeory

          • @Smol Cat: Forums then classified

          • @Smol Cat: i believe they have 3 type of lounges, i managed to get into one which i think was the lowest of the qantas lounges and whilst it was big inside, it was semi staple food that wasn't the greatest and i would be raving on about it.. i'd rather go into that amex mini lounge lol

            • @prankster: The SYD amex lounge has moved and the new one is a lot nicer than the previous tiny one.

              • @nietzsche bargain: oh wow!
shame the banks took all my amex cards away so i can't get into amex lounge for free anymore :(

        • How to sell the qantas lounge pass? I received two from st George Qantas credit card but I won’t fly qantas to use the lounge pass.

          • @Unacceptable: Flying Jetstar?

I believe they can still be used.

            • @movieman: The passes I think can be used when flying Jetstar, but it may not be very practical. E.g. in Sydney domestic you'd need to change terminals (and go through 2 lots of security) to use the Qantas lounge but fly Jetstar. But for international it would be okay (same terminal for Jetstar and Qantas).

            • +5

@movieman: Dont ever use the Qantas lounge if you are flying jetstar from Melbourne airport.

Jetstar and Qantas are in different melbourne airport terminal. I reckon allow at least 20-30 minutes just for getting from Qantas lounge into Jetstar gate.

I tried once, thought I could quickly walk it, but having to run with my carry on in the end….

    • i work for ANZ so we dont have the annual fee :-P

      • Do you still get the 120k points though?

  • +3

hmmm have just been approved (3/12). Will contact ANZ and see if I can receive the revised offer!

    • that's $200, they better give it to you

      • Only $75 and 20k points

        • forgot the $75. All up $275 if you convert QFF to 1 cent each.

    • do you have an existing credit? I have just been approved for citi and thinking whether should I apply for this or not

    • +3

Im in the same shoes! Please let us know!

      • Guys I've contacted ANZ. Did not want to give me the new deal. I feel that is quite unfair.

        • I feel it's very fair - you don't meet the requirements for the new deal.

It's not beneficial for you of course, but that doesn't therefore mean it's unfair.

    • exactly the same as you. I've received the card already but haven't activated.
I just called ANZ and they tell me there's nothing they can do. If i cancel my card and apply for a new one they say i won't qualify anyway because it will count as already having the card.
Please let us know if you get a different response. I'll hold off activating mine another day.

    • +1

Literally just got it approved yesterday afternoon. Will call to see how it goes.

Is someone currently holder of Anz Rewards Black credit card, provided by Breakfree home loan package, qualified to apply this card?

    • +3

Yes (I've done it previously and got the deal/bonus QFF points, etc)

      • Did you cancel the previous card so that you can get free annual fee?

        • +2

Yes you have to cancel. You also have to fill out a break free package changes form or something along those lines to swap the credit cards so the new one is under the breakfree

          • +1

@BellyUp15: Does anyone know if breakfree home loan owners can waive off this offers annual fee and still get the bonus points? I cancelled my ANZ platinum QF card over 12 months ago and this would really sweeten the deal if the fees can be waived completely.

            • +1

@cray: The annual fee is $425. $370 of that is for the card and $55 is the rewards program. I could be wrong but I think you get the $370 waived under breakfree

            • +1

@cray: I just called them, they said its one or the other. If you decide to link it to breakfree to reduce annual costs you won't get the bonuses. Maybe it was just my person on the phone that wouldn't budge on that?

              • @rookieh29: Same response. I wonder can I get the sub card after I got the bonus and link the card.

              • +1

@rookieh29: wow thanks for that! I was going to call them but 120k is worth $150 to me. I'll call to double check and report back if there's good news!

        • +1

Confirming you either get the points or the annual fee waived. Can’t have both… unless you call and complain about not getting the points later on

    • ANZ rewards and frequent flyer cards are considered separate, so should be no issue.

  • Hope the deal lasts till mid Jan (when my exclusion period ends :))

  • Has anyone been approved for this card and actually earn $75k?

I can’t see how someone could get approved with a credit limit double their annual income.

    • Huh?

      • +1

        @victorheaven @Bonbi @boku - Sorry, I’m cooked.

I meant, I find it strange that someone earning $6,250 before tax would be approved for a $15k monthly credit limit.

        • -1

Just happened for me, need credit card for booking travel and cruise packages which are like $4k per person and you have to pay for it under a single booking. It's those odd occasions when you need a high limit, definitely not a monthly spend haha

        • +2

It's not really a $15k monthly limit though, it's $15k at any one time.

So if you were to max it out, then your actual spending cap for each month effectively becomes however much of the balance you paid off for the previous month.

The banks don't operate on the premise that you're necessarily able to pay off the balance in full each month, they assume (hope?) you'll carry some balance. As long as you can pay it all back eventually!

        • They don't expect you to spend 15k every month.

Risk calculations are more like "if this person DID spend the full $15,000 without having the money to pay it off, do they comfortably have the income to make the repayments"

If you maxed a 15k card at 21%, paying the card off over two years would cost $758/month, well within the reach of someone earning 75k.

They wouldn't keep giving you an additional 15k each month, obviously.

I'm about to furnish my house so I'll probably get this card for that.

          • @SolidworksError: @bai tu & SolidworksError - Thanks for the explanation!

I had no idea, banks work it out that way.

        • Using the exact same logic, you could say "my income is only $0.15 per second - why would they give me a limit 100000X that". In fact, I'd say my example is even more logical because it's possible to spend $15k in one second - using your monthly income is just random!

        • Username checks out

    • +4

The credit limit is 15k not 150k

    • +2

"double their annual income"? Min credit limit is 15k, not 150k.

    • +18

      Name checks out

    • Hagrid? Is that you

  • Any idea what the minimum income requirement would be?

    • +7

      It says 75k

  • Thanks OP - Just put through my application. Cancelled this card 1 Dec last year. Do I satisfy the 12 month exclusion period or does it have to be greater than 12 "months" i.e. January 1st for me? Hoping it's not the latter, TIA!

    • +2

While it should be when you cancelled it, I've had cases with cards where it didn't close off completely until paid in full. If you ring them up they can confirm their date on file when your account ended.

      • From memory I paid off in full prior to cancelling and have a letter from them stating it was closed on 3 Dec, so hopefully that's okay!
        Thanks again

        • Call them and they can confirm if you're eligible.

          • +1

@lilkid28: Ended up calling them this morning and they confirmed I closed it on 3 Dec of last year and therefore eligible. Cutting it very close though!

  • I have the Velocity "Travel Rewards Travel Adventures" card.
Renewal is JAN, think they'd let me swap over to this?

    • Just apply for this one separately

    • Cant swap, must apply for new card.

  • +3

$65 per year for additional card holders.

    • Google or Apple Pay - no additional card required.

      • Could you elaborate. I havn't done any research but can you have the one card across multiple phones?

    • Just curious, what benefits are there to having a second card?

      • If you have a significant other you give them a card and they earn you points by spending on it.

It does carry a certain element of risk though……..

  • +1

Just finished 100K with them Doh!

    Who to churn to now?

  • Is it possible to cancel the card before they charge you the annual fee? Or do they charge the annual fee straight away?

    • End of first or closing statement depending on which is first. you can close it after you get your points if you don't need the card

      • First year you mean? But no avoiding the fee if it's on the closing statement, damn. I think I'll pass in that case. Thanks for the info.

        • yeah. you cannot avoid it. as in there's no point thinking you can avoid the fee to get the points lol

  • Devo

Just got approved for the Westpac black with $0 annual fee and 80k qantas points

    This seems slightly better.
