    Does this work with HA?
Edit: Looks like it does, as it's powered by Tuya.

    • +1

      After you tasmota it

Not all tuya work with ha natively

      • Tried Tasmota with Cocoon bulbs from aldi, flashed successfully but looks like i messed up the config, the bulb worked once and then turned green and never worked again :(

I know this is going to sound petty, but the actual buttons on this just seem too small. It just makes it look odd to me.

In saying that, I'm excited to see what comes next for wifi wall switches. Unfortunately for the light fitting I have, smart globes are just not an option.

  • Wish they worked with Dimmable lights.

    • -1

      There's a dimmable version, yo

      • Twice the price and not official mention of dimming.

      • That's not Amazon australia

  • Unsure if these are Australian Approved…If not, you can't get an electrician to do it…you'll have to DIY.

    • Which is illegal in Qld, all other states have similar regulations.

      • +1

        Are you sparky?

      • +1

And self-gratification is a mortal sin. I'll take my chances.

If not, you can't get an electrician to do it

Are you telling me you can't find an electrician to install this? I find that very hard to believe.
Most of them are not especially obsessed with regulations in my experience - "cash price mate".

    • The electrician is the one that can be fined for installing if not certified

But would except this to be certified since selling on Amazon au

  • And the Australian Certification is where? I can just imagine a fire being traced to this, and the insurance company "gotcha" on a product that wasn't certified…

    • +5

      Lol n it starts

  • Looks like a limit of 1 per account ??

    • Bought 1 each.

  • I happen to know a sparky who is using sonoff mini switches through his house, each to their own.

    • Home insurance be damned!

    • I'm sure there is heaps the same as there is highly modified cars on the road. They just do it and run the risk of a fine

I bought some wifi switches from Amazon.com.au but when they arrived, the electrician couldnt see the RCM (Australian certification stamp) on it. It is a triangle with a tick in the middle. Sent them back and went and bought some switches from Bunnings.

Unless it has the RCM on it, dont risk installing it and voiding your insurance.

    • Can anyone confirm this. I can't find anything on the PDS. ( Yes I just red them )

      • I spoke to these guys a while back. The answer I got went along the lines of they are not approved but the motherboard is based on one that is approved. I bought approved switches elsewhere

    • What did you buy instead?
Did you get your money back from Amazon?

  • Sorry dumb question - would this device actually override the on/off switch ?

    • +2

This device IS the on/off switch :P

  • this is really good price i paid 38 buck for the roller shutter switch only one problem they stick out abit. Also the terminal connector is on top you have to cut your plaster to fit them in

  • Agreed. Not worth the money if they aren't certified for AU use.

Not worth the hassle of voiding your house insurance (or worse your house going up in flames) because of it

    • Does it void your home insurance if it's not proven to be the actual cause of a claimable incident though?

  • The list specifies ETL/CE safety, both are not recognised in AU. Tempting but I personally won't risk it.

  • It's worth the risk.

    • +1

OK, please do tell. What exactly is the risk? Aside from hackers.

Can you tell me how many house fires have started from arcing in a wall or architrave, and what kind?
I'm damned sure these could not start a fire in my house, unless they have a pyrotechnic charge hidden inside.
Maybe some building materials are vulnerable?

You and Big1 and others claim there is a risk. You would not just be talking out of your hat? Let us know what this risk really is.
You must have some clue if you know it is "not worth it".

I'm not saying these are good or safe. I've seen failed and charred switches before.

    • What risk

  • +2

What about if you bought a house with these already installed, would it void your insurance? If it does then anyone who ever bought an established house would have to check every electrical component to ensure they aren't unknowingly voiding insurance.
