Mackie MR10MK3 10-inch Studio Subwoofer (Out-of-stock) $359 Delivered @ DJCITY

70

Same price as from their “Click Frenzy” Sale.
Currently $549 on their eBay store ($499 after discount code).

Note: This is primarily a Studio Monitor Subwoofer, and therefore has Balanced XLR / TRS inputs only.

Also the specs say Class A/B amplification but this is wrong, a tear-down revealed it is using a Class-D amplifier.
(I actually see the amplifier being Class-D as more reliable in the long-run than if it were Class A/B)

  • Specifications from Mackie

    Mmmmkay.

    • The DJCITY specs were lacking in details & accuracy (Class A/B amp),
so I thought it was better to copy & paste directly from Mackie’s PDF on their website to give those interested better information.

  • I have some MR5's so this pair nicely and very tempted… however going to try go the subpac route as transducer tech has me loured in!

    • I think this subwoofer looks smart & out-of-the-way.
Keep in mind the front is the mesh-grille (from the pictures some may think it is a solid cabinet).

  • Would this be a good sub for home theatre?

  • Could you pair with Edifier R1850DB? Is that even a good choice? Total audio noob here..

    • From pictures the Sub-output of R1850DB looks like 3.5mm.
Physically it can be done through buying extra cables / adapters (3.5mm to 2x TRS stereo cable) and sending an un-balanced signal to the subwoofer (the subwoofer is designed to accept a balanced signal).
But by using an un-balanced cable you may get interference in the sound from the subwoofer (static / buzzing noises in the signal).

I would recommend against it as the extra costs involved for the adapters & the trouble of trying it may result in issues with the sound.
I recommend against using “adapters” and forcing connections this way in general.
This particular subwoofer is made for Pro-Audio and therefore the connections are different from conventional subwoofers.
You would be better off getting a subwoofer with compatible RCA inputs.
