I am sure the system is fine to DD the final balance - but I've no idea how they justify that their system can't detect when a payment has been made already (mine was made 20+days before the DD took place) and so do the DD anyway - and then charge a fee for this.

When this happened with Citi I did press them to explain, they said it was a system issue and gave some really weird explanation that made no sense to me.

I find it very hard to believe one of the biggest consumer banking groups in the world can't figure this out - it almost has a whim of dodginess to it - as in,"Oops yes you're right we'll refund that fee for you - we're really sorry" when likely 30-40% of folks never notice it.

    FWIW here was Kogan/Citi's reply:

Upon careful review of the account, I can see that you have a direct
debit for automatic payment set up on the account. Please note that when
a direct debit is set up, the system is set to draw the payment on the
due date. Because of this automatic payment set up, you are not advised
to make a manual payment through Bpay because the preset instruction to
draw the payment will still proceed.

The automatic payment has been declined that is why it has been reversed
and a $15 dishonour fee was charged.

I reversed the $15.00 as a one off process. The fee reversal will not be
considered as a payment. Your forthcoming statement will have a lower
    balance due to the reversal.

If you would want to make a manual payment through Bpay moving forward,
kindly cancel your direct debit set up online.

Even their online messaging system (I'm using desktop not the mobile app) is crap - it won't allow you to use any symbols, even apostrophes etc so you can't use even vaguely correct spelling/grammar. They've been like that for years as well (citi) - embarrassing in 2020.

    • I just did an online chat with Kogan via their app, basically got the same text as your first paragraph. They did mention that I can cancel my DD via their online site, which I've now done

    • +1

Yes, I have always had that issue. Once I tried to report a bug through feedback, and then I could not submit it because of quotes.

I found the hack though - they do not block the "grave symbol" (`). So you can quote `like this`

  • But where the 500 credit at?

I already put through 1500 on CC and paid bill last week. Have had card since 18 December so coming upto 2 months.

    • +2

Up to 10 weeks after the end of the 30 day qualifying period.

In the same boat, it could be another 6 to 7 weeks to wait.

    • +2

      Why don't you ask them.

      • sending them a message now, lets see what they say

        • +1

They’ll say wait up to 10 weeks is my
          Guess

          • @Danstar: Yup they came back almost immediately with:

The $500 Kogan credit will be credited to your Kogan.com account up to
10 weeks after the end of the 30 day qualifying period.

Just got my email today from Kogan,

$500 Store Credit into my account, time to buy some AirPods!

    • Nice! When did your initial application get approved? I just got my second monthly Kogan statement today and no credit email yet.

      • Application was approved on the 2/12/2019.
Minimum spend was hit in December too.

        • Hmmm my application was approved on 9/11/2019

Not sure when I hit the spend limit though..wait and see

        • That's pretty early. So I reckon that's good news for all of us. Probably in the next 1 or 2 weeks, most of us who applied early December will hopefully get it. Fingers crossed.

I don't think when you hit the spend limit matters. I think the computer reads the first statement (30 days), if it's more tan $500 then the computer will give you the $500 credit in 4 weeks (specific date probably) or something.

      • +1

I got 2 statements so far and nothing. Spend was hit within the first statement.

    • Thanks for the update :) look forward to receiving mine too

    • Did you get the second monthly statement today too?

I'm assuming that was the trigger.

Just got my second statement this morning no credit yet.

Approved 6/12 and hit the required spend a week later.

      • I got my 2nd statement last week….still no credit

      • I got it last week or at the start of this week i believe

        • Where and how did you get it? Does this automatically show up on kogan.com or code?

    • +3

Where did the credit show up in your account? Was it the card rewards or credits section?

      • I was told you would get a "special" email that says the credit has come through.

        • Dont think anyone has managed to get credit yet.

          • @varunynr: The person @victimize who I replied to said they got the credit recently.

            • @frogduck: Sorry I read that as second statement rather than credit. Well that should be good news for us all then.

            • +1

@frogduck: victimize is the only person got the $500 credits?

              • @sfac: Looks like it so far. Another got $300 from an earlier promo, and I've gotten $400 through a citi/kogan promo.

                • +10

@frogduck: Anyone willing to call bullshit on victimize? 😛

                  • @snensnay: Maybe just lucky (for now)? Haha

                  • +3

@snensnay: I would call it a bullshit too unless victimize can show the email from Kogan.

            • @frogduck: He seems to be only one but he has vanished.

        • Maybe they are really waiting for the entire 10 weeks after the 30 day period to give out the $500 credit. i.e. end of March.

          • +2

@Beachberry: Still waiting too. Love it that we are still coming back regularly to an expired thread though:)

    • Prove it with email proof

    • +4

      gosh, where have you been?

      • +3

        under a rock

  • +5

What's the odds in a months time there will be a lot of us asking who have this card, still asking if anyone has received the credit

  • Anyone received their credit yet?

  • +1

I have just asked them again for an update but they said due to privacy reasons they cant discussthe over email.

    However same retric,
For your reference, The $500 Kogan.com Credit will be credited to your Kogan.com account up to 10 weeks after the end of the 30 day qualifying period.(this is the maximum waiting time, generally, it's earlier) You will receive an email once your credit is ready.

    • Haha always funny when they claim privacy could be breached on such things.

Yes, I suspect we'll all be waiting a while longer. The easy way is to go back and check when you received your 'You've been approved' email from them. As if they do it exactly as they say it's 30 days from then plus 10 weeks. So for me who was approved on 03DEC I'm looking at around early-mid MAR.

I suspect it's going to be one of those things were if you check every day it'll seem to take forever so if you try and just leave it be - before you know it it'll be there (whole watched pot never boils deal).

Just make sure you diarise to check after your 10 week 'worst case' date is up to ensure they don't have a 'clerical/admin' error on yours. :-)

      • If you check in the thread from the previous $300 credit deal most people got their credit within 8-10 weeks of card approval so I'm still hopeful of getting the credit before end of Feb.

        • I am in the 12th week after the card approval.

          • +3

@sfac: its not card approval it's after the end of the 30 day qualifying period. so statement date i'd assume

            EG i got approved on the 4th December > 30 days = 3rd Jan > 10 Weeks = 13th March :(

  • Who seen kogan’s new offer

    $100 credit after $1000 spend 😂

  • 10th week … Still waiting.

    • Did you add the 30 days after approval (or was it after making the $500 spend?) ?

      • Yep .. 30 days after first financial statement

  • Anyone having issues with kogan website continuously saying reward points unavailable?

I tried unlinking my card but now I can't link it back

    • +5

The work experience kid isn't back in the office till Monday try then.

    • Yep! I contacted them, got the usual try clearing cache and if that doesn't work let us know. I let them know it doesn't work and got nothing back.

  • +3

Sigh have to check here to make sure I am not the only one who haven't receive the credit

  • Same boat as you guys, got my cc mid December and still waiting.

  • +5

They're going to drag it out as there's no reason to give it a second earlier than they need to - cash flow has real value and as a big business they know this - anyone who got their early I'd say was very lucky but for all us plebs I think we'll be waiting till the last minute as they'd be giving away hundreds of thousands in credit.

    • +1

I wonder if everyone bugs them once a day about the credit, whether the cost of responding to calls, chats and emails starts to outweigh just giving us the credit!

      • Credit is from Kogan, card is issued and managed by Citi, so two different entities.

        • I'd like to think if enough people push back on Kogan then Kogan will raise it with Citi. It is their reputation being tarnished after all

  • +2

For those curious to know, just open up a conversation with one of the chat agents (via website / mobile app) and they will be able to confirm if you are eligible + time-frame for credit.

I just got confirmation that I my $500 credit will be applied no later than 26th of March (90 days).

    • +2

Good idea. I just tried it and they said I will receive my credit by March 12.

    • I'm worried they are simply telling you the 30 days after approval + 10 weeks (70 days), so theoretically its something we already know. If you guys can confirm when your application was approved. I bet its close to the 10 weeks.

      • Yes - that is what they did with me. They simply said "you got approved on this date, and 10 weeks will take you to early March".
Do not believe for one second that these people actually know what their systems do behind the scenes.

  • -7

Been a couple days with no comments. So here's one 😋

    Still no credit for me

  • +2

I got told on the chat I have met spend criteria and will get credit by 15 March ….lets see

  • +1

Sigh…. I was told on chat that I wasn't eligible as my purchase was with the Australia Post retail shop which is listed as a government service and not counted as spend :(

    • damn should have checked you had met the requirements at the time you made the purchases. :(

    • I'd try and argue that with them - if you paid a bill via AP, ok thats a tough argument to make and you might have to concede that one - but if you bought any goods or services via the AP retail store I think you should really stand your ground on that one as it's not a govt service and they can't just make up their own definitions.

What did you buy via AP store?

    • I think the issue may be that they can't differentiate between you paying your bill / taxes via Australia post or buying something in the shop - but someone correct me if I'm wrong. If you bought something in the shop and you still have your receipt, maybe you can try and argue it.

      • -4

All due respect as this is your fight - but I'd kick and scream on that one as AP is primarily a retail outlet and the ability to pay bills through it etc is a minority part of their business. Obviously if you had your receipt that'd help a lot.

I can't help but notice you completely ignored my basic question of what did you buy through them? Which to me is somewhat telling.

        • +1

@nikko except beachberry isnt kissandlove who posted originally. You're getting on your high horse with the wrong person.

  • Anyone have a credit date earlier than mine of March 12th? I'm not betting on it happening, but technically I should receive within the next 10 days.

    • I got my card approved 10th December and hit the spend criteria 31st December (they lost my first card in the mail). Not sure where they start counting from.

  • +1

I was told I would get it by 12th March as well.

  • do you think Kogan will bump up their pricing? knowing a good number of people have $500 credit. i am sure they have the visibility their exposure on this? i was told it will hit my account by the 19th so another 2 weeks of waiting.

    • +3

The voucher is valid for a year so they can't bump their whole site for that long.

I'd say they're hoping people will buy Kogan branded stuff so they make a bigger margin.

Also I'm not a beer drinker, but someone could get 10 cartons of beer delivered for free: https://www.kogan.com/au/shop/pantry/beer-and-cider/?deals_f…
