it's certainly not "worth" $999, maybe $500. Does it include all the local taxes & charges? (For Siem Reap it's 10 % VAT, 2 % city tax, 5 % service charge)
btw 1 day is not long enough for a tour, 3 days is usual. So I guess they try to up sell you.
But you can get quite nice places at Siem Reap for under $us50/night…we got a new place 2yrs ago with brekkie for $us25/night. A guide & driver was $us45/day. More importantly a slab of Asahi was $us12!!!
I was there in April and we were paying US$60 per night for a pretty posh hotel.
The Prince D'Angkor. See tripadvisor.com.And depending on where you go, guides are about $40-50 per day
but if you were to go out a bit further (to the more exotic
temples ala where they did Lara Croft), expect to add 20-30 more
cos petrol is v expensive.
ie. about US$1.25 a liter which when you take into account
the cost of living, would be like $15-20 a liter here.would be a bargain if it included flights,
without flights no bargain
there's lots of other things to see there besides angkor wat. it seems like a waste going there and only seeing that.
ummm….. "Additional expenses such as (but not limited to) flights are not included with this voucher. Please note, a visa may be required for travel to Vietnam"
I think they ripped this from the Vietnamese Groupon clone, and upped the price for the Aussie market.
Seriously, values at $999?
I've been to Cambodia twice and i'm going again at the end of this year.A tour guide costs about $40 a day (Less if you know how to bargain with the locals) and they provide the minivan which caters up to 10 people.
A reasonably high class hotel there costs about $35-40 per night for about 2 people(We stayed at 3-4 star hotels at a price of $14 per night).
Breakfast there for an adult would cost about $3 for a reasonable portion.
I think it's an average deal, definitely NOT worth $999 and not even half that price, that's all i have to say.
$400 for 3 nights ? not a deal.
