      • 100%. I would not be able to fix hardware problems myself.

        • +1

Dell, their after sales support is good.

  • Can someone offer opinions on what upgrade is suitable to the base system if I am only using this for mainly office applications and running a Plex server with 4k files. Is the 3500x good enough to transcode/stream the 4k files?

Perhaps upgrading the motherboard to a B350M???
    Biostar AMD B350M Motherboard $39.00

    • maybe upgrade to the 3600 in that case (12 threads vs 6). from my limited research that seems to be better suited for this type of work

  • How will the gtx1660 go for 1440 34" wide monitor?

    • +1

You will want something close to a 1080 for somewhat smooth 1440p gameplay

    • +1

I have a 1070 which is on par with a 1660 super and TI (about 20% faster than the 1660 here). The 1070 struggles with 3440x1440 on anything above high details for new games, but does OK on older titles. The 1660 really is a 1080p card, for a 3440x1440 high refresh experience with high-ultra settings you will need a 5700XT/2070Super at the very least and they won't necessarily be up to the task for some games. If you're OK to drop the details you can get away with a 5700/2060 Super for a little while.

      • Thanks that is good to know

Hey when will this deal expire?

  • Seriously this sucks… I want to build a pc with my kids to teach them how computers work (how I learnt although no videos or Google's to tell you where bits fit in) and not everything is just touch screen click…. Techfast then advertises these which makes it pointless to build PC's anymore and ruins the whole searching for a bargain component at a time… Damn you techfast 'old man shaking his fist'….

    • +4

      Buy it disassembled?

      • -1

True! forgot that option! But kinda feels wrong Hahahaha.. Which makes no sense!

    • then go to umart

      • I did have a look, umart, msy usual culprits…still seems cheaper from techfast.. Noise's idea is better I forgot that option :)..

        • are you comparing like for like vendors tho

          • @asa79: Most part yes… If they have the same otherwise it's more googling… Just easier to get unassembled as savings would end up Gone if it's from multiple vendors, shipping or picking up etc.. Upside is I get to pick the brands I'd prefer… If it was my own rig I'd build it just because I have for decades but since part of the reason is to teach…rather not go too crazy… As old farts like me would say back in the day nothing assembled would ever be cheaper than parts and assembling yourself.. I don't know how techfast make any money taking Australian labour into account

            • @scud70: from what i read, there is no guarantee of best vendor parts in here

    • Ask then not to build it

    • You know you don't have to buy this and you can just continue to live your life however you please?

      • i know :) they make it tempting though.. but i've planned to go through a PC build with the kids over the christmas hols so yeh…

        • I understand, as a custom-built PC with higher quality components is not that much more, so I would suggest just sourcing the parts yourself if you wish to make it a family affair.

          • @magic8ballgag: i like that idea actually .. might go down that route :)

            • @scud70: I've specified a very similar system to that comes to roughly ~$750 (Intel CPU, AMD GPU) via Futu on eBay.

    • Buy PC, disassemble, put back together?

  • Does this have wireless wifi connector or do I have to buy one?

    • Buy one.

Most of the questions people are asking are literally in the description in here or on their website

  • Hey guys, can this build handle 1440P gaming with a 144hz monitor ?

    • +1

If it can plug in. It can handle it….

    • no u need a 2080 ti for 144hz 1440p

    • No it can't. Unless you want all settings on low you'll need at least a 5700XT.

  • Hi,

Can I install an existing optical drive (e.g. DVDRW) in this case or the Versa J24? It doesn't look like it, but I'm a bit of noob with modern desktop PCs.

    Sam

  • Do you think this could run Minecraft with a bunch of mods? Been looking for a cheap second pc to play Minecraft and other sandbox stuff with my gf

    • +3

      Most certainly yes

      • What about the new call of duty, modern warfare. Would it run this ok online, or do I need to consider something more like this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/494843 Thanks.

        • +2

          Yes, it'll be fine

        • +2

I would say it's fine however I don't game much but the GTX 1660, the CPU and the amount of ram this PC has should be able to run it.

Edit: Refer to the comment above this

          • +2

@CC123: Thanks @CC123 I don't game either and this stuff is a bit out of my league, it`s for my son, so I appreciate the advice, cheers.

            • @Utoty: Seriously unless you are only playing at 1080p, this GTX 1660 WILL NOT play Call of Duty Modern Warfare at a decent frame rate.

The GTX 1660 is a rubbish card. If you want to game, get the 2080 or 5700 deals….

              • @aussietivoman: @aussietivoman Thanks for that, I am still seriously considering the RX 5700 $978 deal for the extra $289, does seem to be the better option.

                • +1

@Utoty: For gaming the RX 5700 craps on the GTX 1660 or GTX 1660 TI

It is a much better choice. Plus if your monitor supports Freesync (which most cheaper monitors do) you can use that too - GT 1660 doesnt support Freesync.

              • @aussietivoman: https://youtu.be/_cO3o-poU0A

Average 90~ FPS on ultra settings (using i5 processor) seems
                Pretty good to me

                • @Danstar: At 4k?

                    • -2

@Danstar: Yeah at 1080p it's fine for most games.

                      As my original comment stated:

Seriously unless you are only playing at 1080p, this GTX 1660 WILL NOT play Call of Duty Modern Warfare at a decent frame rate.

The GTX 1660 is a rubbish card. If you want to game, get the 2080 or 5700 deals.

                      • @aussietivoman: Price is important to some

                        • +1

@Danstar: Yeah no doubt. My son has $1000 to spend - he's getting the RX 5700 deal because he wants to maximise gaming performance at 4k.

The video card is roughly half the cost of the rig.

  • Is this good if I want to just connect to a tv to watch movies from?
    Won’t have internet on it

      Overkill

  • Purchased, upgraded to ti graphics card and some other bits and pieces. Should be good!

  • I'm looking to buy a prebuilt gaming computer around December from tech-fast - due to where I'd like delivery to be I still need confirm some dates and budget - so I was wondering if you were going to have another mid-range (budget is around $2000) deal for December appear or plan for one you already have available?

    Thxs.

  • Looking for a 1080p 60fps build to play the latest games, would this be the best deal to get? Or is building your own still better?

    What are the recommended upgrades?

  • I am getting into VR at the entry level and recently acquired an Oculus Quest. Could someone tell me if this PC could handle Steam VR games. Looking to try out the new Oculus Link option coming out this month.

For those people out there that aren't computer programmers or computer savvy and are interested in having one of these gaming systems built by Techfast, maybe for a gift for a teenager (like me) and have a few questions regarding your requirements or don't know where to start, I would strongly suggest you call Techfast support on 1300 898 956 or email [email protected] or email and request a call back. I did a couple of times and they were very helpful when choosing the machine and upgrades. They even sourced and packaged a disc drive for my system. I cant recommend them highly enough at this stage.

  • Sick deal! Would I be able to fit a wifi card in with the A320 or would it require the upgrade to B350M? Are there any wifi cards that you guys recommend?

Also, would it be recommended to upgrade the ram if you're upgrading the mobo anyway? I know it's all up to me at the end I just wanted to hear what others think.

    Thanks in advance!

  • thanks, bought 1 and upgraded to B450 Motherboard

    • Are you my doppelgänger ? Lol

  • Now $728 after code, think they raised the price

Edit: Whoops mistake, clicked an upgrade. How do I delete my comment?

  • Does anyone know if the following PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 SSD will work/fit on the Biostar B350M motherboard?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Silicon-Power-Gen3x4-000MB-SU001TB…

    • I believe it does. According to the biostar web site the board has one 32gbs M2 slot

      32gbs is PCI Ex 3/4

  • I ordered this yesterday. Hope it doesn't take toooo long. Really looking forward to having a decent PC finally! Been using old slow PC cobbled together out of salvaged junk for way too long.

I notice that clicking the above link now shows a slightly different setup to what it was yesterday when I ordered… "16GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM (2 x 8GB Modules)" is now "1 x 8GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM". And the case "Thermaltake Versa H18 M-ATX Case" is now "Leaper small form factor case". Hope I still get what it said in the original ad? Surely? lol -_-

Do all "Thermaltake Versa H18 M-ATX Case" have the side window?

    • +1

It'll say what you ordered in your invoice

  • Any idea on what 1660 is supplied with this PC?

  • Bought - upgraded Motherboard + PSU. Couldn't resist TechFast deals after all these months…

  • +1

I'm trying to enter the code in the checkout page but it says it's not valid? Can anyone help?

EDIT: Ah dammit, looks like i just missed out.

    • +1

replacement deal is up, cheaper but with less RAM and a cheaper case

      • yeah just saw it! the same specs are only $20 more which isn't too bad imo.

  • +1

Where’s my elephant? I mean PC
