This is a really good deal, even by TechFast standards

  • +7

If there is anyone still out there looking to buy at this price range, that hasn't bought a tech fast build already, this is a great deal.

  • +6

    Seriously… this is amazing value

  • +2

I'd love a build similar to this but with a RTX 580

    • +8

Man what is a RTX 580

      • oops, RX 580*

        • +1

          lol they posted one today

    • +1

      1660> 580
(According to all the YouTube comparison videos I’ve watched)

      • Yeah ofc but for 1080p gaming, the 580 provides enough power for me and at a cheaper price

        • +4

          But this build
Is pretty cheap as it is…

          • +4

@Danstar: Really can't make everyone happy here..

        • +3

Never forget the "F" word (Future-proofing)
RX580 might be good for 1080p gaming now, but in couple of years time it will struggle to play upcoming titles.

However GTX 1660 (I'd personally pay $99 more for the Super upgrade though) will most likely cover you bit longer.

          • +1

@Bappy: 1660 super offers the best value at the present

          • +10

@Bappy: Don't think you buy a 700 dollar pc to future proof but that's just me

            • +2

@chris666: LOL - The "F" word is very dangerous at this price point, I agree.

          • @Bappy: +1 on that.

The RX580 8GB in my HTPC is fine when it's hooked up to my 1080p TV, but at LAN parties with my 1080p ultrawide it becomes rather apparent it's getting long in the tooth.

  • +7

    Insane in the membrane

  • +1

Woah, that is a great price for a pre build.

  • +10

Currently Order to Delivery process is taking about 3 - 4 week, should order ASAP if you want this before Christmas.

That is how long my delivery is projected to take, but I am hearing it may be even worse from others. Which is a bit disheartening considering they advertised a 5-7 working day build time.

    • Ordered in Oct, still waiting to be shipped. Not having alot of hope reading the above.

      • That's terrible. I would have canceled by now.

        • +1

I plan on ringing tomorrow and if it isn't built, will cancel.

      • Are they baiting people with orders and deliberately delaying production while waiting for prices to drop?

    • New delay posted today is quoting 7 days

      • Which is just a lie.

        • Yep, it's been like that for a year, quote 7 days and never meet it.

Many people are always posting about failed parts and having to ask for service on an open forum as they can't get a reply via email.

I shudder to think what warranty claims will be like in 12months. All these grey import biostar parts.

      • I ordered this and would expect it before Xmas … if not, they’ll soon realise not living up to delivery times will be their downfall. Yes people like cheap, built PCs. But if you can’t deliver… business will deplete

    • +16

But why would you expect 1660 or similar priced cards to deliver decent performance at 4k?
Its targeted market is 1080p… (not even 1440p, let alone 4k)

      PS - I didn't neg you

  • +2

    That is one hot deal.

If I hadn't already ordered a system last week, and was still on the fence, this would tip me over for sure.

  • +25

I like Techfast, but hearing that systems ordered and paid for LAST MONTH still havent been shipped as of 13 November, I think they would be better named "TechSlow"

Their EBAY ratings aren't great, and a lot of the negatives are about long delays in shipping - sometimes a month or more!

    • +6

I can only speak from my own experience… I ordered 22 July and it was delivered on the 30th. Obviously this time of year might be a different beast, but that was my experience.

    • +3

That's exactly what's stopping me from pulling the trigger. Would rather buy local. Put a PC together on Parts Picker and wait till Black Friday.

    • +3

They had pointed out pretty explicitly that the r5 3500x systems were a "preorder" of sorts, and would be run when they got stock (which I believe luke confirmed they had sometime last week, round the 5th iirc).

      Edit:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/494324

      • +7

Yeah but the delays aren't just 3500x systems.

And the delays aren't new. It appears they are one of the compromises you make when going with Techfast…

    • +4

Also the lack of communication through their ebay store. I ordered one of their systems on ebay on Sat. After 3 days, not even an acknowledgement that they had received my order (of course paypal payment went through right away).

So I sent them a message through ebay over a day ago just to see where it is at and no response.

This deal is better than the one I ordered on ebay. I guess I will wait until the estimated delivery date and see if anything happen.

    • +3

I ordered 2/11 and they emailed me last week that it will be shipped this week.
Today they emailed me that it will be shipped next week.

I will cancel my order if that doesnt happen

    • I hear you. I ordered when the last sea came out. Still waiting for the confirmation of shipping sent out.
I’m surprised they take on these large orders if/when they don’t a) have confirmed stock or guarantee of stock delivery to their end and b) enough labour for assembly/testing and shipping.

I asked for a refund for the difference paid between this new deal and what I paid as they’re exactly the same to my config (sure this deal is $53 dearer thanks to the case and memory of whatever) which is $6 plus another $59 for case/memory. I’m probably naive in thinking hey will honor this but seeing as they haven’t even shipped out my order..

  • can we get a better board with m.2 support please :)

    • +7

      Sure can - $39

  • Thoughts on the included case & motherboard?

    • Upgrade the mobo

    • mobo released in china only

  • Would this sort of spec be okay for a 9 year old who plays Fortnite, Roblox (evil, dodgy, slow code so needs decent graphics card to work well) uses a USB 3 video capture card and streams to Twitch, YouTube (not a lot, but getting into it more)? I was thinking of upgrading the mobo for more USB 3.x ports and perhaps the power supply as would pop another SSD & HDD (i.e. a mechanical drive and not SSD) into it from old PC. He has two monitors which are 1920x1200 but might give him a 3rd which is 1920x1080.

Actually looking to buy with December pay bonus - please God - (i.e. for Christmas), but doing homework, now.

    Thanks!

    • +4

100 percent. Little nephew has a Ryzen 5 2600,RX 570 8GB,120GB SSD and 8GB DDR4. Does twitch while playing Fortnite and hasn't had a hiccup.

      • Far out that absolutely destroys my rig…

    • +2

This will absolutely piss that in. That's a hell of a setup for a 9yo O_o

      • Thanks. Also hoping it might last a while :)

        • If it wasn't for the fact that the mobo just blew up, my midrange PC I bought in 2012 was still running Overwatch on high so this will get you a few years.

    • -1

It depends what monitor he is using and what resolution he wants to game at.

      At 1080p this is fine.

At 4k this sucks ass due to the GPU…

    • +1

9 year olds are allowed to stream on those platforms?

      • +3

        No they aren’t.

The Twitch Services are not available to persons under the age of 13. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 (or between 13 and the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction of residence), you may only use the Twitch Services under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms of Service.

        • +6

what? rules like these exist to protect children as they're vunerable. same reason we now have laws against child labour

        • +1

Are you new to the internet? use your brain and realise how much toxicity there is and ask yourself if a 9yo is mentally equipped to cope with that.

  • Would getting a bronze 80+ psu be needed or any other benefits ?
    Ie. power saving? Longevity ?

    • +3

At this price I'd just replace the PSU with a better one if it dies. Same for the motherboard.

      • Just stick with the stock PSU supplied You think?

        • +3

It's probably not going to be under a lot of stress, low end Nvidia card and AMD cpu isn't pulling many watts

      • -1

Chances are if the psu or mobo dies the rest is going with it.

  • +2

Hi OP please add an option to upgrade gpu to 5700. Thanks

  • Any games included on this deal?

    • +10

Yes the game of guessing when your item will arrive. Honestly though doesn't seem like it includes any games as being askhole seems pretty good with his previous descriptions of deals

  • +1

If only this was a 3600

    • +2

That's offered as an upgrade you can select.

  • -2

Would this be suitable for 4K fortnite and halo mcc when it comes out?

  • +4

Obviously not complaining at this price-point - but I am waiting for the day when Techfast will run-out of their collection of A320 boards LOL.

Then again, what I hear the A520 or similar entry level boards are not far away.

  • Chiming in - Whats a decent rig for 1440 gaming?

    • +2

I am not an expert, but what I gather AMD 5700xt or NVidia 2600 Super will do fine for 1440P gaming

5700 or 2600 or even 1660 ti/super might do the job but maybe with lower settings

From the CPU point of view, 3500x or 3600 should be fine

So This should do the job but if you have extra $ then definitely consider this

  • hi what windows are you guys using?

    • +7

      Double
      Glazed? 😅

      • -2

He said windows, not donuts! Jeez.

    • It's Windows 10 Home but not activated. You can use it unactivated with reminders, pay for activation when you configure your system, or find a cheaper activation code elsewhere.

  • Is it possible to get this unassembled, and if so would that mean it ships faster?

    • -3

From memory on other posts from TF. No

    • +2

Yes, people have commented that they have done this in the past.
Apparently you just need to tell them in the notes when placing the order.

      • -3

I swear I’ve read they won’t do it
Cos they do the testing of the
Built PC in house… maybe I’m wrong. Apologies

        • +2

They definitely allow it. You will save maybe 2 days.

        • -1

Touchy people on here (as usual) lol

  • Out of curiosity, where do you guys get your Windows system from?

  • Does this build have any RGB?

    • I highly doubt it would.

  • These guys should look at rebranding to TechCheap.

    • it that an insult or a compliment? i generally dont know lol

      • I genuinely don't know either

  • +1

Thought this was a good deal and made a few minor upgrades. Then bam almost doubled the price to $1252. Still good deal, or anything worth leaving out?

Case Upgrade: Thermaltake Versa H18 to Versa J24 Case $89.00

Product Option: 480GB Solid State Drive $99.00

    RAM Upgrade: 16GB [2400MHz] to 16GB [3200MHz] DDR4 RAM (2 x 8GB Modules) $59.00

SSD Upgrade: 240GB 2.5" SSD to 240GB m.2 [NVMe] Solid State Drive $79.00

    GPU Upgrade: NVIDIA GTX 1660 6GB to GTX 1660 Super 6GB $99.00

    Mobo Upgrade: AMD A320M to B350M M-ATX Motherboard $39.00

PSU Upgrade: 550W to 750W 80+ Bronze Power Supply $99.00

    • +5

Might as well just get one of those higher specs PCs posted lately

I bought. Just upgraded mobo. Rest I’ll do myself
      When needed

      • Sorry I'm not very informed - what's wrong with the AMD A320M? Seems like the consensus is to upgrade but I don't understand why.

        • +1

can't overclock CPU on A320 mobo

        • +3

From memory few extra slots, usb ports, overclocking ability, ram speed that can be installed

  • Better this or equivalent specs from Dell/Lenovo/HP?

    • Depends. Aftermarket support worth to you?
