Ring Home Security Kit
I don't know, but when you call ask for Kit. Unless your name is Kit, then you better Ring Home Security…
I need to chime in here too.

MEMORY IS RAM!!!!!!
Note there is a $150 / year subscription fee with these.
only if you want storage and monitoring
why can't i store on my NAS ?
if Ring provide you with the ability to set static IP and can use RSTP to access the device.
Misleading information, you don't need $150p/year plan. $40/year plan is enough for could backup ( per unit )
https://au-en.ring.com/pages/protect-plans
Or you can use for free without cloud backup.
If you read the condition #5, $150 plan is only good if you in US & Canada.
Best product in the market, no need to spend $$ on NAS, very responsive ( depend on your mobile connection)
$40 for one device, but this is a 3-device bundle.
You say "cloud backup" - does that mean they can record locally? I did not think so.

No, you can get it here, just without the alarm monitoring service. Could save a bit with 3 separate $40 accounts, one for each camera, but that sounds awkward.

Ring Chime is just a bell, it doesn't need subscription. You only need subscription for cloud features such as storage.
You say "cloud backup" - does that mean they can record locally? I did not think so.
My bad, more like temporary cloud storage, keep it for two months or download it if required.
Can this record to local storage such as nas?
Unfortunately not. RING are locked down to only record to cloud and to do so you must pay the subscription.
Thanks for the info. This makes it absolutely useless for my needs
What battery does the outdoor stick up cam use?
More importantly, does motion detection work on battery?
Yes, and motion sensitivity is highly configurable.
Cool.
So, honestly, why the hell is anyone bothering with arlo or eufy?
@justtoreply: Subscription fees with RING are expensive. Looking at $4/month per device. No local storage options. To retain footage you must have a subscription.
@aldroid: It's worth noting that $150 a year is the maximum price. It can look pretty rich at 3 cameras, but if you end up using more around the house the price is capped. I use 10 of them around my place, so it's essentially a $1.25 per camera per month.
@aldroid: Thanks for your input. Still, $400 plus $150/yr for four cams seems better than paying $1000+sub for arlo
@justtoreply: I totally agree. For most people, not having to worry about a NAS or local storage on sdcards is an advantage. For enthusiasts who like to tinker with RTSP feeds, object detection, facial recognition, etc, the RING system is too locked down.
Dont buy! On the top of that price there will be monthly fees
Avoid rings product and choose the one without monthly fees
What would you recommend (genuine question)?
Is there a similar product in similar price range that doesn't have monthly fees?
I would recommend getting a more basic video doorbell (aka web-enabled intercom), and separate wired security system with hard drive.
PoE is best, but we've seen good deals here on AHD (coax) systems.
Of course Ring is better if you don't care about the money. But I expect a security system to last around ten years, so a $199 becomes $2,000 or more.
Assuming the service even still works for that long!
A proper 8-camera AHD system with DVR will end up much cheaper, but effort to install.
What is a web enabled intercom? And any suggestions on where to start?
You could get a basic Ring doorbell without subscription, and a separate security camera system for local recording.
Mine records video to hard-drive, but also uploads stills to dropbox in case the DVR is stolen.
I've got the Xiaomi Doorbell, works well. Facial recognition is amazingly accurate.

Only downside is that you can't connect via mains power, has to be battery ( 4x AA).
Weekly battery changes are the norm.
every week you have to put 4 new AA batteries? ouch
This is an amazing price for the bundle. I'm not sure why people are saying don't buy. Do your research and if you are happy with the sub, buy it. It is extremely well priced! If you don't need the online storage, then buy a different cheaper one. There is a system coming out at Aldi in a few weeks, if you don't want subs, that's probably better for you.
what's the system in Aldi? 4
It looks fairly well priced and the app looks OK. It's called Cocoon https://cocoonproducts.com.au/
Any info on pricing for the Aldi system please?
This is the old generation, not compatible with HomeKit right?
That is correct. Only Alexa support for this gen. But works great on an Echo Spot or Show as a video intercom.
Have one and it's been great especially for deliveries lol. This is very tempting.
How has it helped with deliveries? Have you been able to have a delivery that required signature to be left without? Or do you just mean for general security of deliveries, or instructions to delivery drivers that have authority to leave already?
Yes to all. Camera is on main door and can detect every motion so I can tell if the deliveries come or not and or if they place it on my "safe" spot.
Didn’t someone mentioned in previous Ring doorbell deals that the servers are now located off shore so there’s a 3 sec delay when talking through the intercom?
Depend on your mobile connection.
Guys genuine question. if you have a security door in front of the main door, how/where would you install this doorcam?
It is a battery, and you get angled plates. I have mine on a 45deg angled plate so literally any flat surface, near your door where it can be fixed. Just beware that you need a place that won't get a lot of random traffic or you'll get a lot of false postive 'motion' alerts.
Thanks mate
The motion detection is very configurable through the app. You can block out zones, reduce sensitivity, have motion detection on a schedule, or disable it entirely.
the reviews on ring seem to be polarised, either love it or hate it so it's a jump in the dark as far as I see.
also wondering why this deal is not on amazon since they own ring anyway.
What's their number?
