    • Not even a comparison. Especially given the difference in price point.

      • +1

Meaning Superloop is better or worse than Telstra?

        • +4

Telstra is rubbish. Customer service are the worst. Don't waste your time.

        • +4

There is literally no reason to use Telstra for NBN.

ABB and Superloop both provide better network, better customer service AND better pricing.

Historically people would go with Telstra despite their premium pricing because there was either no other option (e.g. Telstra HFC) or the Telstra network was better in some cases. But that's all in the past.

    • +4

Superloop is much better. Customer service wait times and the international load speeds of sites.

    • +1

No 4G backup with superloop, no phone line also uncertain whether their international links are better than Telstra. I'm not risking it.

ABB has issues with China. Superloop might have the same experience just hasn't been tested well enough. Not enough customers to warrant its good

If the network is good you don't need customer service

      • Yeah, can't agree more, I have cancelled my order with Superloop just now after considering your point

      • +2

        what issue?

use their looking glass to check: https://lg.superloop.com/

      • +1

Here is superloops network https://www.superloop.com/our-network/, i've done testing and i beat out vocus, tpg, and telsta on most international routes. Telstra has horrible routing most times. As someone suggested test with https://lg.superloop.com/ the whirlpool thread will have global speedtests too

      • The 4G backup shouldn't be a selling point, it's capped at 6/1. Superloop has far better international links than Telstra

        • Yes but NBN is the one likely to cause outage and do maintenance. Your ISP won't be able to do anything.

A ex-colleague of mine has had no internet for 2 weeks, ABB couldn't do anything and he had no 4G backup. This is due to work done by NBN affecting the entire suburb.

Sure it is capped but its better than nothing at all. And while you are on 4G Backup your ISP would know this, and they can push NBN to fix things faster.

For me I'm on a month to month contract since I have had Telstra Cable for 4+ years switched to NBN.

Therefore this deal isn't ideal for me. Its your personal preference

ABB definitely has had or still currently has issues with China sites. If you are Telstra or Belong those sites work as reported by forums online. I don't have those list of sites being slow etc as I don't have ABB. But if someone who has ABB access those sites see if you can do the same on Superloop

          • @neonlight: In my experience, the outages we've had while on the nbn have been caused by Telstra

  • +1

Does this include voice phone line? I need to port over a phone number.

    • +4

They don't offer voice… yet. It's been coming for a long time.

If your voice plan is attached to your current account, you should port it elsewhere first so you don't lose it.

  • +3

So I must be one of those old people but I did not realise when they said "we will transfer your service immediately", that 10 minutes later Superloop would be up and running, was with ABB on HFC.

Speed is as advertised, 46MBps at 8pm.

    Thanks OP

    • Hmm so i'm on ABB HFC and signed up for this last night as well, but am still on ABB 8.5 hours after receiving the 'Order Received' email.

      • Damn, hope they at least churn you today.

        • I mean i'm halfway through a billing month with ABB so i'm in no rush, but i can't help but worry about getting stuck in some sort of nasty limbo based on everyone else saying the churn is happening with 15 minutes.

  • Switched. Thanks!

  • I had Skymesh and got moved to a Superloop plan for 6 months when they shut down. I have to say, they consistently gave 94/35 even at peak times on FTTP.

Just signed up to the Fibremax deal so have free nbn until November 31.

Seeing as I never actually signed up to Superloop, what do you think the chances of me being classified as a new customer are?

    • +1

fibremax is crap, it's been 3 weeks and they couldn't even get my line up and running, if it wasn't free I'd have gone to ACCC

  • Wow what's with all these people jumping off ABB?
They gone bad or something lately?

    • +4

People complained about long wait times for customer service. Both of them have onshore customer service. The other thing where Superloop exceeds ABB is the data routing after the NBN POI. Domestic and international network are better on Superloop.

    • +4

Not at all, I've had a great experience with them. But it's like $20 cheaper.. and this is Ozbargain

    • ABB hasn't gone bad and continues to have better tooling (My Aussie) but Superloop is cheaper.

      ABB has stickier IPs also.

      • Yeah, i don't really have any complaints about Aussie's service, but for $69 vs $99 i'll take Superloop up on this for 6 months.

    • Price, ABB 50/20 unlimited (no discount) is $80 compared with Superloop $55.

If the service and speed are comparable, $25 a month saving for 6 months is an easy sell.

      • would suggest go back and check your last 3 months usage on ABB. if it has been consistently below 500Gigs you can save another $5 with the SL 500GB 50/20 at 50. just a suggestion mate

  • Superloop? Never heard of it. How good is this provider compared to TPG? Been with these guys for 10+ years now and am reasonably happy wth them. Paying $89.95/month/100mbps unlimited with fttp connection. Wanna try other providers only if they are better than TPG of course.

    • +4

Much better all around. Read the comments on this post, or whirlpool has heaps.

    • +1

with a fttp connection you are way better off than most already. have a look at the whirlpool threads. by a big majority SL should be able to better TPG for you. would suggest definitely catch this offer and try them out

  • +1

Not very impressed with their phone support. They have a standard recorded message all the time that 'high call volume…. call later'. I was first in the queue, hung up after waiting for 15+ minutes!

    • +4

At 8pm at night for Aussie phone support, after the deal has been OzBargained? What a travesty. Give them a break. Their process is automated anyway, just sign up online and you will be churned automatically. No need to call them.

      • +1

Don't jump into conclusions! I signed up during earlier 1 month free promotion.

I am talking about calling around 2PM during weekdays. They messed up my free credit and had to call multiple times to get it fixed.

        • +1

Fair enough. I called them once to update my billing details, was 10am and got through in 2 minutes.

  • Does the sign-up process give an opportunity for the customer to nominate the churn date?

    • -1

      No

    • +1

i myself had called them up and chosen a date when i would like to get activated. worked flawlessly with an sms and email on the nominated day and the router has had a solid connection ever since :)

  • +2

Churned from ABB, took less than 10 min on fttp. Seamless. Handy has my billing day was tomorrow!

  • How do I set a later connection date? Went through sign up process and could not see an option…

    • There is no option for that

    • Only possible by calling in

  • Anybody on FTTC that churned can comment on the transfer time?

    • +1

5:30pm – Signed up to Superloop
5:32pm – Received SMS and email from Superloop
5:35pm – Disconnected from ABB and connected to Superloop
5:50pm – Called ABB to cancel

Speedtest conducted and the upload speed is slightly faster than ABB. Very happy with the switch so far!
      https://www.speedtest.net/result/8678274257.png

      • That was pretty much my experience too. Amazingly quick. Roughly the same speed as abb. Slightly slower download speed. Can't complain for the price.

      • pretty much this, just signup and 5 minutes later i am on superloop from abb.

  • if i jump off ABB and port to Superloop, do i need to call ABB to cancel my plan?
ABB has milked me for the past year at $99/mth and now a decent competitor has arrived, time to jump ship

    • It took 24 hours for my connection to disappear from Aussie's online portal after porting - recommend you give them a call or verify with online chat either way.

  • Tried to sign up, but I am not able to find the scheduled connection date as I would like to have it around end of November. Any ideas ?

    • Cannot schedule mate

    • You might be able to schedule the date if you call them

  • +2

It's time to leave Exetel. Thanks for this!

  • Thanks. Time to say goodbye to aussie broadband

  • I’ve just been issued an ABB invoice. Do I need to wait another month before leaving?

    • You can call them and try your luck with getting out of paying that invoice. Seems hit-and-miss with ABB reps.

      • You’re right. Had this confirmed in writing: This is an email to confirm our call today. This is to confirm that a mid month closure does warrant a Pro Rata credit, however I recommend having this sorted before the billing date.

  • +1

With tpg paying 109 a month. Anyone know where I can, port my home number to so I don't lose it?

    • +3

      Mynetfone.

    • Mynetfone or maxotel

  • Completed sign up and was connected 5 mins later. Churned from MyRepublic FTTP with crap speeds. Now getting 46Mbps consistently on a 50mbps plan.

  • Can someone explain what 50/20 and 100/40 means?

    • +1

      Max Download/Upload speeds.

  • +1

can i port over my land line number and will it cost anything? does this service include a landline (with any free calls like the big telecos)

    • +1

Take a look at the FAQ

What will happen with my phone line when I transition to NBN?
This will depend on service type. We recommend calling us on 1800 10 12 10 to discuss phone services/how existing phone services may be affected if you have one.

      https://www.superloop.com/faqs.html

  • Still on ADSL here. Will I need a new modem for this when we finally get NBN?

  • Doesn't it include NBN connection box (modem) inside house? Superloop CIS is not clear but Belong's CIS is clearer.
I didn't have NBN connection before but I saw my address is HFC ready.

    • Like to know too, I am in the same boat as you. I can't seem to see any info regarding getting a modem….. Anyone??

      • they do not supply hardware

    • +2

When you join up, the NBN Co will come and install everything you need to get you going (EG install everything and provide a modem). You will then just need a router so you can spread the love throughout your house

  • +1

Thanks signed up, time to leave Tangerine Telecom

  • -5

Have a Belong contract for years paying $65.00 pm, bit slow sometimes way too slow. I don't know why.
They replaced router two times still same speed. I see the Superloop plan not impressive after calculation.
These days all ISPs lure customers with similar plans and similar speed. I decide just keep going with Belong.
    Thanks OP anyway.

  • The ‘complete signup’ button is grayed out and wouldn’t allow to register. Is anyone else getting the same issue?
Looks like they are OzBargained … lol

    • +1

Did you work this one out? There’s a small 5th box that you need to tick which then expands payment method. I got caught out by this initially also.

      • +1

You are amazing mate. Thanks. It worked.

  • +2

signed up at 10:14 and service transferred from AussieBB to superloop and started working by 10:23.

  • Curious if anyone's tried getting ABB to price-match before jumping ship?

    • +1

aussie broadband is super tight ass about prices, i asked for any sort of discount for signup and the answer was always NOPE. and i dont blame them, their customer service according to people takes a steaming Dump on telstra and optus and the big teleco suckers who provide (Mod: inflammatory) customer service that makes you pull your hair out..

  • Thanks OP, save me $30/month now…cheers
Same speed with Aussie and done within 10 minutes

  • +1

Not a single drop out or slow downed since moving from
    Internode and Aussie

  • Sorry if it’s a dumb question would an archer v500r
Or Telstra modem work with this service? I signed up to
Kogan and i am not impressed with their speed. Thanks

    • +1

The archer v500r will work on all NBN connections mate.

      • Ta

  • Anyone know if there is condition for accepted as new customer?

  • +2

    Just an FYI people…..

I just read the full T&C and it says this:

"For the seventh, eighth and remaining months of your service Superloop will bill you the monthly
fee applicable to the service you selected at the time of signing up. This amount is set out in our Critical
Information Summary and Pricing Schedule available at: https://www.superloop.com/legal/critical-information.html
    "

The pricing according to that linked document states:

    nbn 50/20 500GB ($74.95 per month)
nbn 50/20 Unlimited ($79.95 per month)
    nbn 100/40 500GB ($79.95 per month)
nbn 100/40 Unlimited ($89.95 per month)

Is this just a mistake, or is this something to investigate further?

    Hey doggybag, any ideas?

    • +1

It pretty much means that it will revert back to the non-discounted price for the subsequent months after the first 6 at $20 off per month. Furthermore, during the sign up process you would have selected 1 month as the contract period as that's the only available option. In short, no one is stopping you from leaving after the first month.

      • Well, that information is different from what the OP first wrote, so I'm just bringing it to light.
        That's all….

      • So if no one is stopping you from leaving after the first month I presume you can also downgrade your plan after the first 6 months too correct?

I'm looking to sign up on 100/40 Unlimited to gauge my line performance (will be my first time moving from ADSL2+ to HFC) and data usage and then downgrade to a more appropriate plan if necessary.

        Thanks.

        • Yup, you sure can and hopefully by then ABB has a similar offer so you can also choose to take that up as well.

    • +2

      Very good spot, interesting…

According to this document, the $5 off fees on the 50/20 plans will apply indefinitely for as long as you remain on a 50/20 plan.

This Offer provides a $5 discount on the monthly plan fees available when you sign up and remain on either the Standard Plus (nbn50) 500GB or Unlimited NBN Plan.

I've been with Superloop for 6 months and I recall that when I signed up the $5 discount promo had an expiry of 31 March 2019 so it looks like they are continuing the offer indefinitely but of course there is no guarantee that this will be the case after 31 January 2020.

Also, I've just come off a $5/month for 6 months promotion (so I miss out on this deal) and my 50/20 unlimited plan has reverted to $74.95 instead of the non-promotional pricing of $79.95 so I'm confident this will continue to be the case for the current offer.

Finally I've done a dummy signup to be even more sure and can see that the monthly summary for the 50/20 500GB & Unlimited plans show a price of $69.95 and $74.95 respectively. See here. So according to this T&C: "For the seventh, eighth and remaining months of your service Superloop will bill you the monthly fee applicable to the service you selected at the time of signing up" the applicable fee will be $69.95/$74.95 and not $74.95/$79.95 after the $20/off promo has ended.

  • -2

Not a deal for me because no calling features are available.

  • Just on another note, do they charge $300 Nbn connection fee for Greenfield estate new nbn house pre wired? I could not see any information when signing up so I have signed up but lets see what happens next. I have called few ISP and all said they will charge $300 nbn connection fee.

    • +4

If it's a new connection, you will get charged no matter who you go with. It's a charge by NBN Co., not SL. They will call you to confirm before they get you connected.

  • Got FTTN currently with Aussie and when I put in my address on the Superloop website it says service not available… I received my invoice yesterday.. hopefully ABB offer partial refund.

  • I used to be with SL, now with ABB but I still have a login to SL.

Would I be able to get this offer on SL? If so, what would be the way to do it?

    TIA

    • no. you're a returning customer. this only applies to new.

  • Definitely going to churn from ABB to Superloop but I have 26 days left of my month so I’ll have to wait. Thanks OP.

    • +2

A few people have had some luck churning and getting ABB to refund a pro-rata amount. Worth a call to find out I guess in case this offer is withdrawn earlier.

      • +1

Good call, I’ll definitely give ABB a ring.

        • +1

Let us know how you get on.

          • @MaximumEffort777: All good. Done and dusted in about 5-10 mins from the time I got the message. Also ABB looked after my 25 days remaining and it only had to pay a prorata’d percentage of my monthly fee. 👍🏼
