  • Might be a pricing error?

    • +1

clearance old model, time to time OW heavily discount random items, can try price match at JB if you think its price error & order will get cancelled

  • It is a clearance item. Good luck if you get any stock

  • Ordered one for click and collect. Lets see how it goes. Main interest is googassistant support. Looks like the v1 firmware also supports rtsp streaming as well

    • Got a click and collect confirmation its ready for pickup. Doncaster VIC store.
Had a quick look at QV store doesnt look like theres any.

  • So if the power goes out these are useless?

    • +5

Much like 99% of cameras on the market…

      • +2

POE cameras with the switch/router/etc on a UPS seems to be the best solution for this problem

        • Arlo would be another option, with a UPS to power the modem etc
They even have a cellular model

    • +1

This isn't really comparable to a complete UPS and mass storage surveillance system. This is more like a "special" webcam and priced as such. However, it's pretty easy to include it on your UPS if your router is on one already (consider that if your router/modem is down so is your cloud stream anyway). For temporary mains-free internal camera recording, you could finally put all those Xiaomi power banks and Eneloops to use :)

Price is good. But it's year 9102 and still not does FHD?

Do you have flying cars yet?

      • +4

People can't even drive properly and you want to give everyone a flying death machine?

          • @Quarn: Isn't that how Colin McRae killed himself and his passengers? (i.e. Flying car, aka helicopter)

        • Thank you! I've been trying to explain this to my older brother. Imagine people who have terrible driving in two dimensions, then suddenly adding a third!

  • Anyone looking for one of these kind of cameras. Check out the TP-Link ones.

      Link?

      • I don’t have a specific link more just stating that if you want an affordable but high quality cloud cam, consider the TP-Link.

I bought a reolink one recently and am very happy with it. It was $85 on amazon.

  • Are these for indoor use only?

    • +1

According to the item specifications, yes

  • 720p and 180deg. I get that it has it's uses, but don't expect to see much detail.

  • +1

Anyone know if this will work with Blue Iris software?

    • +1

Yes please or Motion. However… I feel it’s unlikely unless it exposes RTSP or MJPG stream

    • Most of these cameras have an rtsp feed that you can locate and throw in blueiris/ispy etc.

    • +1

If the firmware is still 1.x when you get it then you can disable the firmware update and use a local stream.

If the firmware is 2.x or it ever does a firmware update then it disables the local streams and you're screwed.

  • Anyone find anything in Melb?

I just got the last one from Caroline Springs

      • Thanks bud.. can't seem to click and collect @ Kew. might give em a call.

        • Someone could have gotten the last 2 on ClickAndCollect

          • @anznow: Went in-store at Kew and someone has the last one on hold

            • @limucat: Yeah I guessed so. Since the itemhas not been picked up yet so it might still counted as available at store.

  • Can anyone confirm how to use this for live video and if it is accessible on both mobile (android) and pc (windows).

Might be nice to use one for certain areas when we get possums and rats right now I can think of a few places where this would be useful but would need live stream functionality and not just recording to the cloud or storage.

    • It can live stream to the mobile app or website.

      • Can it double as a webcam for say Skype and whatsapp?

Dunno where you are getting your data from.. all the VIC ones I tried are 'out of stock' maybe this is from a cached site

      • +1

yeah out of stock in Melb and vic

  • +1

    no stock anywhere in QLD

  • If you have amazon prime, wyze cam
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B076H3SRXG is $43.20 delivered.

    • +1

This looks exactly like the Xiaomi one (old deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/415146)
I remember picking these up for under $20

      • +1

I got one of those years ago ($15-$20), it ended up in the storage drawer pretty shortly after purchase. It's a neat toy but needs to bounce your stream to China through their clunky (at the time) app before it gets back to you. Image quality is ok for 20 bucks but it obviously doesn't hold up to more expensive stuff. Mine struggled with low light and motion detection, as expected for the price. I'm sure there's endless tutorials online about how to stream the Xiaofang locally by now, but mine will stay in the unused toys drawer.

tl;dr: what looks to be a re-badged Xiaofang for $43 seems like a very poor choice by any measure.

      • [Just a point]. "What separate them is only the operating system for WYZE is using WYZE App and the latter is MiHome." (Link: https://bit.ly/2o0fhqG)

    • +1

      Wow..that looks like rebadged Xiaomi

    • +1

      review is not good

      • I use them… they are ok
only issue is some update themselves to a new firmware then lock itself stating its made for CH market only.
Big hassle trying to downgrade firmware

    • This looks exactly like the Xiaomi one

      Wow..that looks like rebadged Xiaomi

The hardware is exactly the same - Both Xiaomi Xiaofang and Wyze camera are made by Hualai.

Wyze is US company and I think they used to have exclusive right reselling this camera in US.
Both Xiaomi and Wyze develop their own firmware for the camera and have its own app ecosystem.

Most complaints are for xiaomi's firmware as they are only licenced to be operated in China and people that get it working are happy with the camera quality.

Wyze get almost 5 stars with over 10,000 reviews on Amazon US : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076H3SRXG?pf_rd_p=2d1ab40…

I think Wyze is a better deal than this.

      • Thanks, got one based on your recommendation :)

      • I have 3 Xiaofang and 2 Dafang Xiaomi cameras that are linked to Homeassistant using unofficial firmware without any major issue. I also have Wyze cam and V2 and if you not into modifying firmware, Wyze is a better option with free 14 days AWS cloud via end-to-end encryption without subscription, Alexa, Google assistant and IFTTT. They also support a modified firmware for RTSP

  • +1

Did C&C which went through but then later got an email saying to call the HO. They said only Chirnside Park and Tralagon have stock, everywhere else is out of stock and it's a deleted item.

  • Even on discount it's fairly crappy @ 720p. Much better options on Aliexpress / Banggood

    • If you've ever tried any budget camera (phone/web/point&shoot) in the past 20 years, you'll quickly realise that any technical or claimed sensor "resolution" is almost irrelevant in regards to visual detail. Not to mention, this also comes with D-Link cloud and their product/software support. Please link some of your much better options from AliExpress.

  • why was this at $198? also, anyone know how much cloud service cost?

  • XiaoMi's smart home eco system has some really good and low cost cameras, but not available to the international market yet , can't even register the product if you use servers outside the mainland server.

For example, model CMSXJ05C 1080p 360 Degree, pan/tit 2.4/5G, very good night vision, has XiaoMi's assistant built in. Price is $73 + importing tax.
Only understand Chinese though. And can only use on XiaoMi Mi Home's China mainland server, which is very lag due to network lantency.

Model CMSXJ13A has the same specs but 2.4G only, and not have the assistant, price is $35 + importing tax.

Both support MicroSD card, and save recording to your network share devices/folders.

Not sure if there's RTSP service , or custom firmware available.

Hope they could release a version for the international market.

Edit: Those might work with the Singapore server.

    • +1

I have the Xiaomi camera which got blocked few months ago.
Wondering if I buy one from the official australian store, will it have same issue with regards to China servers etc. (https://www.mi-store.com.au/mi-home-security-camera-360-1080…)

      any thoughts?

      • This link has the MJSXJ02CM model, which I think is the first party lines in the mi jia eco. It sure will have better support for oversea use. But might limited to Singapore server. No point to sell it here if you can’t use it right?

        What happened to your block

        • I tried various hacks from youtube and blogs etc, and none of them worked :)
So it's useless and sitting in one of my old boxes/collection.

    • Yeah I have a couple of the old xiaomi fang cameras. The latency using the Xiaomi app was a killer though, and I could never get the fang hacks to work. They're just sitting on a shelf now. Not worth spending my time on them when I could by comparable cameras with native rtsp support for $40.

Bad luck for WA, not available anywhere. What a joke.

  • +1

called up most of the branches in Melbourne and surrounding burbs, all sold out

  • Price matched at JB Hi-Fi Macquarie centre 2113

    • Didn't they check OW stock?

  • This one the previous xiomi xiaofang better?

  • Says unavailable online :(

  • Are their any battery powered or true wireless solutions? I am thinking of putting one in the shed to monitor wildlife and one in the pantry which is far and has no power outlet inside.

Even lightbulb camera for now will do though might need a night vision one for the pantry and shed at night when the possums, cats and rats come out at night.

I want to monitor the rats inside the pantry mainly but some camera for the shed would also be nice.

Would have to be a wireless solution most likely.

    • Try the Reolink ones on ebay, Argus eco is a good choice

      • +1

Thanks for the reply and comment I will check them out.

Really appreciate it thank you Xinjiang.

        • No worries

    • With true wireless cameras though they won't record 24/7, only upon motion/audio detection. Just so you know
