Thanks TA, good reminder. Was wondering how you redeem this when you hit 2hr mark and walk unto lounge reception person but seems pretty clear.

In the event of a flight delay*** announcement of 120 minutes or more, we will immediately send you an email and SMS with your Mastercard Flight Delay Pass which will entitle you to complimentary airport lounge access. This service is also available in the case of rolling delays, eventually adding up to 120 minutes or more.

    Hopefully it works.

I’ve never been able to claim this but honestly the process is so painful that I don’t even bother. This strikes me as an intentional position of 28 degrees in order to minimize cost. Here’s why it’s painful:
      - you have to register in advance of your flight (if it’s delayed and your not registered too bad)
      - the registration is not linked to your account. Therefore you need to manually put your details in every time. The level of details requested is unnecessary
      - each leg of a flight must be individually registered. You can’t registered return flights therefore you’ve got a lot of manual form filling

      • +1

        it's mastercard's fault, not 28 degrees

      • +7

Not one bit of that is particularly difficult (certainly not in the league of ebayUK 😒). Use copy + paste.

I just registered 12 flights. Took less than 10 minutes on the mobile. Im also at work so got paid to do it.

        • 12 flights - would you not have status with Star Alliance or One World? I recommend it

          • +1

@roh008: Thanks mate but I literally just take out new credit cards every 2-3 months and book the flights with points. Also a few of these flights are one flight but 2 legs so they have to be done individually

      • It's not hard at all and I've successfully claimed in the last 2 flights I took due to the delays. The amount of work to register is quite minimal unless you're touring 40 countries lol.

Got my Mastercard flight delay notification email the moment Jetstar announced 3 hour delay for my Osaka-Cairns flight (also by email). I knew it would be delayed as incoming flight was 3 hours delayed. Only registered for flight delay 30 mins before they posted my flight delay - lucky! I can’t see how you’d get to use this for a rolling delay if you’re already waiting at the gate…. i.e. get flight delay pass email as they announce your flight is finally boarding…

      • Osaka to Cairns 3 hour delay happened to me a few years ago and to a mate not long ago, you would think they would do something about it.

  • +2

don't go on many flights, but one is coming up. Now to think of ideas to delay the plane muahahaha

Tell them your friend has a feeling that there is something wrong with the left phalange.

      • Wait till they say "there is no phalange"

    • +6

You’d rather sit in an airport lounge than get to your destination two hours earlier? Lol

I am getting an error while trying to register my 28 degrees MC. Is anyone else facing the same problem?

  • +1

Do you have to have purchased the flight with your MasterCard? Or does it not matter?

    • does not matter

      • +1

        Really?

        • +1

Yes. I didn't pay using my CC and I still got the delay pass.

          • +1

@Master Haggler: Their call centre staffs don't understand when I try to explain the situation to them. I think their understanding ability is quite poor.

The first guy keeps misunderstanding what I was asking, after putting me on hold he asked me to call the general number again.

The second lady also didn't understand my question, put me on hold and then came back responding to my answer wrong, what I asked is that "does the flight ticket needs to be paid using 28 degree card to enjoy this benefit?" She initially said "No it's free, you don't pay for this benefit", after many clarification she put me on hold and came back to say that "yes you will have to pay for flight ticket".

After further clarification she said the flight ticket will have to be paid using 28 degree card to enjoy this benefit.

To be honest I have no faith in anything they say.

            • @kampua: I can confirm they are wrong.I have Qantas flight vouchers which I didn't pay for and still managed to get this benefit. All done online.

        • looks like hit and miss! We were just told too bad used other card to purchase flights.

  • +2

I better go register. My flight last week was delayed and would have been so useful.

  • +2

I can't get it to work. I put my card number in and nothing happens. I have tried different browsers.

    • do you have the right credit card?

      • Of course…would not be posting otherwise, isnt it?

    • Same here..and 28 degrees is asking to contact Mastercard to resolve this

    • +1

Me too! Tried both mine and the wife's - no response from the page in Edge, Chrome or Firefox.

    • Same here

      • +1

Okay, got a solution from MC..they have asked to send all flight and passenger details to [email protected]. They have acknowledged the ongoing problem.

      • +1

Th oversea call centre staff don't seems to understand when I told her there's an issue with the website. She just told me straight to my face that there is no issue with the web sites. When I insisted many ppl are having the same issue she just she can't do anything and asked me to send an email to [email protected]

All the while I can hear someone laughing loudly in the background.

    • +1

Try again with adblock turned off.

    • Not working for me either MATE

  • +1

Thanks TA might be handy on my next flight

    • -1

TA would be handy on every flight!

  • Damn would have been nice to have this last month, was stuck in LAX Terminal for 12hrs (both missed AND subsequent delayed flights) :(

  • +1

    Thanks!

  • Just registered three upcoming flights, quick and easy.

I'm kicking myself that I was somehow unaware of this. I've taken 30+ flights over the last few years, and could have used it several times. Oh well, at least I know now!

    • -1

If youve taken 30 flights in 2 years surely you have FF status that includes lounge access and priority check-in anyway?

  • good!

  • Just registered my wife's flight and a flight for myself on different dates and airports and the whole thing took less than 5 minutes. Dead simple, no delays at the other end either. (Using FF)

+1 @OP Cheers for this. Wife in the last month has had 4 Jetstar flights and 4 delays.

  • can't get the website to work on chrome or Edge on mobile or desktop.

    • +1

      Turn off adblock

  • +1

Thank you TA. Flying from Tokyo Narita airport tomorrow. Might as well register just in case :)

  • +1

Does this work for other MasterCards?

    • Err no.

  • +1

Thanks TA - travelling to and through the US soon and just registered 4 flights no problems

  • +1

Is it worth getting this card just for this benefit?
I already have ING Orange visa with 0 international fees.

    • Not sure I'd recommend it just for this deal, however, if you do a lot of purchases online, or when you go overseas want to use only one credit card to keep track of all spending on one account, and cash on another (ING Orange) it's a decent system and what I do.

I only have one credit card, and it's 28degrees, I wouldn't gush over it, but it doesn't have any fees, and has decent deals (not that I've ever used any of them) such as free wifi, this flight delayed thing, and I think it also has a price difference refund up to X months or something.

      • ok you convinced me, let's do it :) thanks

        • haha, wasn't even a sale pitch. I literally have one credit card, and this is it. The only reason I still have it is for emergencies.

      • +2

They stopped issuing the price protection policies two weeks ago. If you had it before then, you still get it. If you hadn't registered, it's gone now. I've maxed out my $5k refunds for the year so I'm glad to have it!

        • Good to know, what did you use it on?

          • +1

@juph0rry: Anything and everything. Camera parts, phones, motorcycle parts, guitar parts, the list goes on. No wonder they stopped issuing it. I have no idea how they make money on it, given I've never paid fees or interest on the card!

  • Will it work if you don’t have a 28 degrees card and just have CommBank Mastercard Debit?

    • Nope

  • -1

so let me get this straight, you can get into any lounge that can be found at https://loungefinder.loungekey.com/pass if you flight gets delayed for 2 hrs?

    • Err yes

  • does this only work if you've paid for the flight using Mastercard CC?

    • +1

No, it works for any payment. Please check the comments above.

  • +1

    Thanks TA.

  • how often is a flight delayed lol?

    • +1

      Umm…a lot actually.

  • I applied for a 28 degrees card after seeing this post :-) Used to have one but had to cancel it when I applied for a home loan.

  • Can you bring a 8 years old kid with you?

  • Every time i try the registration link, it fails to load, or just stalls half way and nothing happens. Every other website is working fine. What gives? Trying to register my flights using my phone as i’m currently travelling…

  • -1

Just registered flight from Adelaide to Perth. Straightforward. BUT when registering the return flight the system claims there are no lounges at Perth airport. Quick google tells me there are lounges. Wtf?

    • This doesn't provide access to every lounge in every airport. Access is through Mastercard's arrangement with LoungeKey and in some airports there may not be a LoungeKey option.

      https://airport.mastercard.com

  • Do you need to purchase the flights with the card?

  • Does the card holder have to travel? or can you register for family and fiends? =p

  • -1

my flight from Singapore to Mel was delayed 2 hours, But still received the email from 28 degree saying the flight is on time.
So doesn't really help. fake service

  • +1

Worked really well. Flight was delayed for 2 hours, got email / sms almost instantly.
Lounge wasn't the best but MUCH BETTER than sitting at the gate, free food, wifi, drinks etc.
    Nice thing to have.

  • +1

This is awesome. On my fourth schooner at the Plaza Premium Lounge in Brisbane. Cheers Mastercard.
