  • Great deal, might have to get me another one. Although seems a lot of people have bad things to say about Shoppingsquare.com.au .
Do a google search for reviews of shoppingsquare.com.au before buying.

    • Shoppingsquare could really boost their rep if they successfully fulfill this deal!

    • Fantastic 1st post, thanks. Got mine the night this was posted, ordered/paid 11pm. Update on pg5 for those who ordered the phone at the price listed above.

  • +17

What the?! I just bought one today at allphones for $779 arghhhhh!!!

    • D'oh! Maybe this will make you feel slightly better:

      What is Direct Shipping Offer?

For Digital Camera (and Lens), Video Camcorder or Mobile Phone orders - the items will be shipped directly from Oversea Supplier by Fedex, DHL or EMS. It take 3-7 working days to arrive anywhere in Australia.
For Other orders - the items will be shipped directly from Oversea Supplier by Registered Air Parcel. It take 10-15 working days to arrive anywhere in Australia.

      How is the Warranty Work?

ShoppingSquare.com.au Australia provide Australian local Warranty Service for all the Direct Ship Offer items

So it's not quite the same, though $300 is a lot to pay for a manufacturer warranty.

      • +2

Well, make that local warranty and Austel A tick approval - which has tighter EMR guidelines than the SE Asia counterparts.

But yes, great find Mr Bond, and great first post.

        • Local Warranty is a plus. Austel A tick is just a meaningless sticker, the phones are identical, and actually might be better, it might have a stock touchwiz (which is bad enough by itself) with out the additional crap from local carriers.

        • -8

          thank you :)

      • thanks for the peace of mind
i did have a feeling the warranty wouldn't be the same ;)
        thanks for the confirmation

    • Do you like the phone ? How compare with iphone 4?

      • the best phone ever.

it really depends on what you want.
unless you want iphone specific apps

this kills iphone 4 for sure.
it'll be interesting to compare this phone with iphone 5.
iphone 4 is def. not a match for this phone

      • It's a great phone, don't even hesitate, I can't imagine anyone (that's not biased) not loving it.

      • It kills it in every way. I Just bought one and its the best phone ive ever had.

      • -8

The iphone 4 is better because:
        of the appstore,
build quality (the design of this phone is just ripped off from the 4),
the iphone 4 has better battery life
a better screen at 326 ppi etc

Apple is the original everything else falters because the other companies are just out to make a buck,
Steve Jobs Cares about the consumer.

  • +6

that's pretty cheap, tempted to buy, except i still love my hd2 :D

  • Do these guys provide a GST receipt with ABN/ACN? I'm heading overseas soon.

I'm looking at getting an iphone, but this looks better in almost everything (excluding physical size and screen resolution).

    • It's imported, so there's no GST.

  • +3

i would like to buy this but i dont Don't Have Enough Money :(

    • How much you need? give me your bank account details

      • +1

        i just need $400 …

  • -6

$49 for Delivery & Handling is a joke. ShoppingSquare is still using this ebay dodgy trick.

    • +2

      still its cheap …

    • -2

Can you get a phone couriered to you from overseas for less than $49?

      • -5

calm down guy, my mistake, I didn't read it properly, seems like this is parallel import hence the postage is $49.

      • +4

You should be able to… Amazon couriered me a lawnmower from the UK for a lot less … A phone is a lot smaller and lighter than a lawnmower :)

  • Good price, I am surprised this phone dropped price so fast.

    • I'm surprised too. Considering dudes were falling over themselves getting the SGS1 via that optus loophole for like $560 last year.

If this keeps up they will be paying us to take them off their hands - like what Telstra did with that F&F deal on the HTC Desire.

      • Yeah I was one of these people. This is a steal people!

    • Well there's supposed to be a slightly upgraded model out soon.

      • I heard that too, someone mentioned on Whirlpool that they might release an updated version to coincide with the iPhone 5 around September…Imma be so pissed if that happens.

  • is this real?

    • There's only one way to find out.

  • Is this price real? Seems like a typo. Can't believe this phone selling at this price.

  • +1

that's heaps cheap for this kind of phone!

  • Ordered one :)

Shoppingsquare better not mess us around with this one or do something dodgy like send the phone without a box or take a month to ship out the phone! lol

I'm assuming this is a HK or UK model…

    • should be HK model as it supports "Hand Writing Recognition (English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese)"

  • unbelievable price? Galaxy S II hardware is poles above the competition…

    • Slim and light (only 116g). but wonder if look solid built

      • It feels much better than the SGS, which was ok by my standards.

  • 520 bucks holy ****!

even the SGS in retail is around the same price :O

  • I am thinking this is a mistake…

    • -1

yeh i think it's mistake aswell, they probably got the prices between SGS and SGSii switched around

      http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_58571_Samsung_I9000_Galax…

      • Ordered anyway, no harm trying. I don't need a new phone but wanted to try this phone! If it's a real deal I'm sure can easily resell at this price if I don't like it :)

  • -1

Incredible deal. Hope they honour it. I'm sure if it's sold out within the next hour, they will. Probably a very limited stock deal.

    • They still haven't sold out.

  • Why is it so cheap?

  • Just brought another one for the wife :) I got mine from the UK for over $700, this is a really good deal!

    • +1

Where did you bring it? :)

  • If anyone gets a successful pricematch, post up a receipt! =]

  • +2

Awesome! I was just looking into these and anticipated forking out $700+ Man, ozbargain is the shit!!!

  • +3

Just placed my order. Hope they honour it.

    • +7

      Hope they honour it.

Like I've said before, I reckon we need a separate category on here called "I Hope they honour it."

    • likewise.

  • -1

I don't think it is a mistake because they posted the picture of samsung galaxy s ii
does anyone know how long it takes to get to Sydney?

    • -1

i think its a mistake, there's no way a retailer gets any profit from this, even if its clearance price, there would be a huge CLEARANCE word written on it,

just ordered and got a tax invoice, no idea if you guys can take this for price matching? It's APU's Auction btw, and they are huge in ebay, with ABN etc.

I love APU's for their micro SD auction

      • Picture and specifications are for illustration purposes only. Actual product may differ from that pictured.

Whilst the image can be off, the product lists the model number correctly, they can't ship you anything but the Galaxy SII i9100

  • Thanks for sharing, just ordered one!

If they honour this I'm going to flog off my good old Galaxy i9000 :)

    • -2

if you want to sell galaxy s let me know ….

      • me too, will be selling off if this deal becomes real :D

        • -3

ok let me know before selling ….

  • Hmmm so tempting… vowed never to use shoppingsquare but hmmmm…

  • cheapest ebay price is AU$724, surely this is a typo??

    • +1

ordered one anyway :) fingers crossed!

      • me too. fingers crossed!

  • will they post it oversea?

  • Vodafone made a similar typo with the Legend deal and they still honoured it so here's to wishful thinking!

  • +1

oh man dont do this to me, im trying to sell my gs2!!! $500 is way too cheap

    • +4

what's wrong? not everyone knows about this, there's still that 1% of OZ that don't come here :D

      • or that 99% of people who don't live in OZ!

  • Ordered One :D. They should honor it even if its a error

    • They stand to loose hundreds if they honour it, somehow I doubt they will.

  • No way!

  • Otherwise good deal

  • Its less than 600aud in other countries so it just might be possible

    • which country?

      • Care-a-Lot
        where the Care Bears roam

      • thai phil and many other south east asian countries

  • +1
How about GST and Custom Duty?
For the order value less than AU$1,000 - No GST or Custom Duty has to pay . please check Australia Custom web site http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page5549.asp
For the order valus over AU$,1000 - Australian Custom Clearance Service is provided by Fedex or DHL, we will provide all necessary documents bundle with the parcels. Customer may need to pay GST, Duty and Custom Clearance fee for Custom Clearance.

As far as I can tell, no GST is payable on this purchase. So for those traveling overseas looking to claim GST at the airport don't bother - it hasn't been paid.

    • I just got the tax invoice - there is no GST component.

      • That might be because its shipped from overseas.

        • Even if it is overseas it's cheaper than some of the overseas sellers from ebay HK etc.

        • Yep, that's right. It's just like Harvey Norman and Myer setting up their offshore subsidiaries and selling to Australians.

Nothing bad about it. People just need to be aware in case they're thinking they can get another 1/11 off the price.

Don't get why someone would vote negative on the post.

  • Wow that's sooo cheap.

  • any1 experienced any issues with their refund? i dont want to order this n MIGHT get a refund after 2 months.

    will they post it overseas?

    • -1

dude, its Apu's Auctions, they are one the biggest SD card sellers on eBay AU

      • +15

It's Apus Auctions, not APU's Auctions. They ain't no Kwik-E-Mart.

    • +1

Use Paypal, that way you can just charge back if you don't hear from them in a month.

  • +2

Maybe they have a sale? Desire S like 370 only. Seems very cheap. http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_85022_HTC_Desire_S_8GB_Mo… considering Mobicity has it for 500 (http://www.mobicity.com.au/htc-desire-s.html)

    Desire HD $412.

Oddly enough, Galaxy S is selling for $559. http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_58571_Samsung_I9000_Galax…

    • worthy of another ozbargain thread IMO!

      • Let's not do that. Let's post all related deals in one post and edit the title. Not everyone's interested in Android phones. I love Android but let's not spam the site.

        • +11

i guess with a name like yours we better listen..

  • very general question about the phone, hopefully someone can shed some light.

I am wanting to get an android phone, i have not and dont plan on swapping phones for atleast 2-2.5yrs, how will this phone go in keeping up with developments in apps, networks etc etc.

also, is there anything that comes close to these specs for the $350-400 mark?

    • No. S2 is top of the line currently. Samsung have supported the Galaxy S well so I'm sure they'll support the Galaxy S2 well.

      • Or just do what I did, and drop a custom rom into it, needs to be unlocked tho, which was easy enough.

    • I have an 1 year old Galaxy S… it still runs fine, browses nicely runs all apps no issues, although the specs are only half of the S2 (that said I just ordered an S2 here… too cheap!)

So if you get this I'm sure you'll be happy about it, and I don't think 95% of apps in the next 2 years will be demanding enough to require more juice to run (maybe except some new games when Tegra 3 comes out etc.). For everyday use I think you'll be thrilled.

And no nothing comes close to the specs of this… not even at $500

      • +1

To put things into perspective, Riptide HD is one of the best-looking Android games. It's ridiculously beautiful. It was made especially for Tegra2 devices. Galaxy S2 is not a Tegra2 device but can play the game through Chainfire 3D (a root app). Believe me when I say, that the Transformer (a Tegra2 device) runs Riptide slower than Galaxy S2.

720p videos seek faster and play better on the S2. The S2 trumps any hardware currently out there. There's no contest. You can read the reviews on all sites. People complain about Samsung using plastic but no one complains about the S2 performance. It's a beast of a phone.
