          I don't why yourself & I are wasting our time on this…

Looking at the comments below, Shopping Square don't seem to know what they're doing either.

        • Hey since you got the phone already, can you give us a feedback how this compares with the iphone 4? Yea I sorta realised this back and forth thing is pointless. but since you used both phones, let us know if its worth the switch thanks.

        • I'm glad we've come to some sort of conclusion :)

The screens much more vibrant & suited better for web browsing, which is what I wanted - I might not end up buying a tablet.

Still getting used to the OS.

        • +1

how's the smoothness of the system? from the youtube reviews i have seen, it seems that there is a little lag. do oyu feel it after using the iphone 4? cheers mate

        • @michael which review video did you watch ??

          Here's 2 good reviews
          http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-revie…
          http://pocketnow.com/android/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-review

All the reviews (~5) I have seen so far (from credible sources like those 2 above), none of them said anything about SG2 stutter/lag when surfing, not even checkerboard :)

        • GS2 is better in just about everyway, except for build quality. It's surprising how light it is.

No lag what's so ever. Having had it for a few days I'm extremely glad I made the switch.

          You won't be disappointed.

  • I just received an email with similar offer but at $573 + postage ($49) still being available

How about they fill our orders first before selling more units…

      • +4

It'd be playing dirty, but it's possible they're holding off on sending out stock for those who bought it at the $470 mark, and selling the existing stock for those willing to pay more.

        • Probably doing it to cover the loss they made from selling it at $470…

I am comtemplating on asking for a refund. 1 month is ridiculous.

Also, why haven't they sent any emails out to purchasers about the delay? Any noticifaction would be NICE

        • nope, underneath the new price of 573.95 they did warn new customers about the 1st august shipment date, paranoid much?

        • +1

There is no evidence that any stock has been sent out from the "original" batch: not a single ozbargainer or whirlpool member has reported receiving a dispatch notice. So i don't think it unfair to assume that the cited number of 150 is rubbish.

Given their atrocious customer service (there's a delay of several weeks, yet it has been incumbent upon us to ascertain such), it would not at all surprise me if they opened up the orders again and are actually sending the stock out at the correct price point, whilst they frustrate the $473 customers into cancelling. Paranoid? maybe; consistent with their dodgy service thus far? I think so.

      • They probably had to buy 500+ units in order to get bulk value and make a profit, so it's in their best interest to make more orders in the mean time.

        • just to take further note, Clove and Handtec have been selling these like hotcakes for $630 aud shipped, they had no problems selling at this price, now that it drops by another $100, guess what? an unexpected amount of demand has increased, if Sammie's production factory honestly cannot cope up with the demand what do we expect them to do?

if we expect them to refund fully instead I'm sure you will get it back due to PayPal policy.

    • The last picture is of the original galaxy s, hope they don't try and shaft us ny giving us all the wrong phone

      • Well, its whats on the invoice/tax receipt that counts. Mine says Galaxy S II

        • In the support tickets they clearly stated it was a Black Galaxy S II i9100, which is unmistakeably what I ordered.

    • Jeez this is getting worse….

My contract is coming to an end in two weeks.. Might get one under a contract…

  • Spoke to SS customer service and they said it'll take 2 weeks to deliver. Also, they said they'll send a shipping notification when they're shipped.

Can ask for refund if that's too long. I may just ask for refund….

    • that co-incides with the 1 august shipment date, time flies doesn't it?

    • To deliver (as in to arrive) or to SHIP?

    • +1

Eh, I think I'll just wait. I've waited this long, 2 weeks isn't gonna kill me…

      • +1, unlikely price will do a massive drop for a while, not to the hottest phone on the market atm.

    • How do you contact them? I tried the ticket support system but they won't reply to any of my questions. bastards. Let me know if you have their number :) thanks

      • 02 9666 3055

  • Like I said, it won't be 2 weeks. I go negated for that comment. It will most likely be 4+ weeks to fill 500 orders. I would say 4 weeks is a good bet. Still not a deal breaker, very good value but the wait will be agonising. By then I am sure the price and value of this phone will drop, that's the problem especially as Samsung is reported to do a mild refresh on the specs to keep it competitive with the iPhone 5. I just hope the refresh releasing soon won't be too high an upgrade that will make the Galaxy S II look old overnight.

  • 4+ weeks is BS if it is true. Why sell stock you don't have? 1 month is a long time in the android world

  • +1

I think soon there will be more attractive plans coming out for this phone, as telstra just announced they will be releasing end of this month… i'll hold my card for now…XD

    • +2

      Telstras plans are as follows:
      $59 Freedom Connect Plan + $20/mo MRO
      $79 Freedom Connect Plan + $15/mo MRO

I doubt it will force the other telcos to adjust their price as they are already very competitive compared to Telstra. Prices will fall when the Iphone 5 comes out and then again when the Google 'Prime' is released.

      • Thanks…and as expected, at that price i'd expect the handset for $0. Can't be surprised, i guess, with how sh*t Telstra are…

  • I'm also interested in the Xoom posted on SS. However I choose to wait untill I receive the S 2.
If this S2 is too late, I won't come back. I do hope SS could honor it quickly.

  • +5

They only responded to my ticket once I opened a PayPal dispute.

    "Hello Shaun,

Thank you for your recent purchase.

We are now in process providing you the full refund $ 522.95 back to your Paypal account. However, in order to speed up the refund process, would you kindly please close the dispute on ebay first?"

Yeah, no. A dispute in no way stops or slows the refund process. You're supposed to refund the amount first - then I can close the dispute. I can't reopen it after closing.

    What a joke.

    • +4

The dispute will be automatically closed when they issue the refund. So no need to manually close it. Kind of dodgy reply from shopping sqaure.

    • +1

But you didn't purchase on eBay? And how do you start the dispute process?

      • +1

        There's an option in PayPal.

    • Just say you can't close the dispute until the refund is processed according to PayPal, and you don't mind if it takes longer than usual.

  • -1

This phone is available for $0 on a $59 cap plan with first 5 months 1/2 price on Virgin. Works out around 52.85 per month. Still not a bad deal.

  • does paypal let you lodge a dispute a month after the purchase date?

    • i am not sure they do…this is pretty poor form from SS, noticed also that they put new listings on ebay when they don't even have stock ready here?!

    • If i recall, its something like within the first 60 days (or so) of purchasing.

    • +2

      45 days.

After which SS is still legally obliged to process a refund with you for services un-rendered.

The PayPal dispute route should only be considered if the person you sent money to will not communicate with you, and has attempted to steal your money.

At the moment SS has given you the option to refund or wait, either way if you wait and get the phone or wait and don't get the phone they are still obliged to refund. You already have the tax invoice.

If you execute a PayPal dispute, don't expect your money back for the better half of two months btw.

      • yeah, legally obliged to do something and actually doing it are two different things. I plan on waiting for my phone to arrive. Just wanted to know how long we had with paypal if SS try to pull anything.

  • +4

Paypal claims have to be lodged within 45 days of purchase.

  • does anyone have complaint about SS service to ACCC yet?

    • about what?

    • +1

Their shipping time for mobile phones is 3-7 working days (under direct shipping offer on the same page) so I can't complain yet.

Give them until next week and then we can get the ball rolling…

The price although good, is really only around $100 difference for other imported versions of the same phone…to be honest I don't know if the difference is worth the poor service and warranty support from SS.

This is really very cheap advertising for SS if they get it right! So far they are not helping themselves with the lack of service, extremely long shipping times (according to others that have spoke to them) and continuity of selling the same product before taking care of customers who have already given them the money for one.

  • Latest feedback I just received was a a reply to my support ticket I sent on Tuesday.
They apologised for the delay and said it will be 2-3 weeks for shipment.

I said that is fine but they better not send their eBay listed phones before ours just because they are getting more money for them now and will advise what they reply to that.

    • They are going to give their ebay items priority, to avoid negative feedback on their ebay account. We, on the other hand, have no effect on their ebay account.

  • That is true. Didnt think about that.
I am tempted to buy one on their eBay account and not pay for it and say I will leave negative feedback if I dont get my other order! LOL!

  • um..don't like Samsung…good deal though

  • I just got the tickets reply:

    Hi:

Thank you for your recent order.

We regret to inform you that the Samsung i9100 Galaxy S II Black Smart Phone you ordered is oversold by unexpected sales volume. temporarily out of stock due to unexpected stock arrangement. We understand your frustration under such circumstances and we have ordered urgently from another supplier.

The ETA of the new batch is 2-3 weeks time. The dispatch will take place within 1-2 working days upon arrival of the batch.

Alternatively, we are happy to cancel your order and offer a full refund for you.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you and thank you for your patience. Should you have further inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact our support team.

    Thank you,
    Yours Sincerely,
    Shoppingsquare.com.au

  • so they ordered extra batch due to out of stock

and while out of stock … they are still trying to sell more on ebay + on own ebsite for 573?

    am i right?

    • I think they might have ordered large volumes from another supplier this time, and they can have good profit for selling at $573 or at least the profit for selling $573 can cover the loss from $473 sales if there had any.

  • got the ticket reply from Shopping Square:

    Hi dear customer,

The rought ETA of it is early August.

    Kind regards

  • It seems getting my money back will not be as easy as I thought.

    "Hi Shaun,
Thank you for your kind reply.

    Please understand that we do not keep your money because once you open the dispute Paypal will hold the order and money until their investigation. There are 2 options;

    1) If you would like to speed up the refund process, please kindly close the dispute so we can straight away and offer you FULL refund

    2) you can choose to wait for the investigation done by Paypal which may take up to a month and then we can send you the FULL refund

Kindly please reply and state your option.

    Thank you,
    Yours Sincerely,
    Shoppingsquare.com.au
    (Division of Apus Corporation)"

    • I would call them and just say that if they agree to the refund claim in Paypal it will be instant.
Paypal don't need to investigate anything at all if they just agree to it.

Either way you will get your money back, but one way will leave an even worse taste in your mouth.

      • Spoke to PayPal over the phone, they emphasised not to close it until after it has been refunded because I won't be covered my Paypal's seller protection.

    • You might want to contact the retailer BEFORE opening the dispute. :\

You understand when you open the dispute, PayPal will be dealing with the case at their own discretion, in their own time?

  • Ugh. I got a response to, they badly need to learn to speak and type English… I was concerned about getting an AU adapter for a foreign AC power supply and made the point i DID NOT want a crappy one to attach, as if the connection is LOOSE (to foreign AC power), the phone may not recharge properly. I also stressed i wanted it sealed brand new.

    "Hi,

Most sales are happened at night, we don't have team member to adjust the stock level to our system. As the result the phone was oversold a lot. So it's oversold by unexpected sales volume. We are urgently arranging new stock in.

    Regarding your questions

The phone is band new. We may open it to check the package content and putting a adapter into it. The phone is US version so we will provide a AC power adapter. I can't see any case complaint about the adapter is "loose".

We had around 150 in stock, but the phone was keep selling before the promotion and we still had some orders to be processed before it. What we are doing is to dispatch the phone to the customers in order's order time.

We don't have many customers cancel the order. But customer can feel free to choose wait for get full refund at the moment.

    Cheers,

    Ryan

      AMERICAN stock people!
Or from what i have been told; the second batch (for my order paid for 11pm 11/7) means i must be after the first "150 ordered" and this stock is coming from the US. I raised a ticket on the same night and only got a response today after sending another 3 responses. If you haven't got 1 yet, send another 2-3 requests…
I am awaiting more specific information as to whether or not they are opening the phones box and confirmation all stock is US and a much more SPECIFIC shipping date - as they must know when stock arrives at warehouse.

      • It's UK or HK stock.

    • +2

I think it's ilegal not to provide an australian compatible plug. Wait until you get the phone, if they send you an AC adapter ask them to provide you with an australian one, because it's ilegal not to do so. Don't worry to much at this point. Wait until they break the law to start the claim.

    • +2

Wow did I just read right? "We may open it…" I would really prefer them not to break that seal that is on the original package and just give us an adaptor on the side.

As for the wait, I'm giving them til the first week of August, after that I'm opting out. I don't care how good the deal is but being left hung out to dry and all this uncertainty is just not worth it.

    • Do not assume that the stock is US simply because one customer service rep says they will include a US adapter in the box.

Most likely it's UK, and they will still need to provide a UK adapter.

The rep is probably misinformed, there is no such thing as a US stock of Galaxy S II.

  • That's interesting.

So they are going to be supplying an extra american adaptor?
can anyone else confirm that these stocks will have the American plug adaptor or the Australian plug adaptor?

    • Foreign AC power cord + AU adapter, which is what i said. I don't see why they would advise this to anyone else unless specifically asked. As we have learnt over the past few days (or from previous experience), there are quite deceptive. I expected this to be imported cheap stock from overseas anyway.

      • Unless it's fake, there's no implications of cheap stock.

They have offered local warranty with it.

  • +1

YOu guys do realize that the Samsung galaxy S2 isnt released in the US. so id like to know from where are they getting a US version from?

Also what happens to warranty if we only get it a month later?

    • agree and asking the same question. Quoted from the wikipedia, in the us,"The version released on Sprint will be called the Samsung Within, on AT&T, the Attain, and on Verizon, the Function." All those three are yet to be released according to "http://www.phonearena.com/phones/manufacturers/Samsung/upcoming".

AFAIK, on the HK grey market the US version of the Samsung galaxy S2 refers to the Samsung I997 Infuse 4G. But this phone has a lower configuration (e.g. single core) and sells cheaper. So I believe the support guy or the website is giving the wrong information. Please feel free to correct me.

    • It's a UK or HK model, one support rep was misinformed.

  • +2

in where does the original deal($473.95) description says it contain US style adapter + AU adaptor?
in where does the original deal($473.95) description says it needed at least 1 month to get delivered?
in where does the original deal($473.95) description says it does not have AUS A-Tick?

if it's not in the description, and later when the buyer receive something difference,
seller must compensate whatever difference they did not state in the original description!

if it IS difference to original description, seller SHOULD notify the buyer and let them decide what they want, not letting the customer wait until they discover & complaint!

I for one, will not wait for one month to get it shipped!
they did NOT state this in the original description!! this is VERY UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

who knows what's going to happen after one month? maybe a newer version, maybe price drop, maybe company closed down or the customer is going away/oversea?

    • While I agree with the majority of what you said and i'll admit i am a bit underwhelmed by SS's lack of responses here, the bit about the A-tick is reaching a tad.
Attacking them for something they DIDN'T put in the description is a bit Harsh. I doubt there is a legal requirement to actually put that information in the description at all so picking on them for not mentioning something that they have no requirement to do so is probably stretching for something to complain about.

Note: I am not talking about whether the phone itself should or should not be A-tick certified or marked or whatever (and to be honest I don't give a fig about that, as long as the damn thing works)

  • So I got my invoice at 11-Jul-11 8:18 PM for $522 ($470 + shipping) but opted for paying via Bpay (just to make sure it was legit before paying). If I pay now, do you reckon I have hope of getting the first 150 instock? Or I presume I'll get the second batch in a few weeks time?

    • You'll get it in a couple weeks.

    • I don't think it matters. Everyone who ordered at SS will likely receive at the same time. I would guess that they either made up the 150 units, or they're planning to sell those to the Ebay customers.

  • +3

The way I see it is that there is no need for us to be anxious. If you wanted a Galaxy S2 in the first place, like I do, there is currently no better deal out there. So lets wait it out for a couple of weeks. If a better deal arrives before they dispatch our phones, then we can cancel our SS order immediately. Although its not ideal, we're not at a loss.

  • +3

It seems as though SS themselves have no idea what is actually going on. There just seems to be so much conflicting information being dished out by their reps.

At first I was honestly tempted to cancel my Clove order to save some money with this offer when it was still $473.95 + $49, but now I'm glad I didn't.

Granted it cost a bit more, but my SGS2 was delivered to my door today with no hassles like having to wait 3-4 weeks for shipment or worrying about whether SS are trying to stiff me with a Galaxy Z.

  • +3

I am not going to accept a box that has been opened. I have seen that australian stock comes in a black box with a black samsung security seal. If this seal is either broken or missing ill be demanding a refund.

    • +4

I agree, we all paid for a brand new and sealed unit. They must not open the box or tamper with the seal at all. If they must provide an Australian power plug, have it as an extra item in the delivery package, DO NOT open the sealed box to put it in.

  • +4

Basically it probably was a pricing error, but instead of SS saying "yes it was an error sorry here's your money back" they are say "sorry your gonna have to wait 1month+" either because:
    1. They don't wanna refund money
    2. They want to wait for refurbished units that cost less and ship those
    3. They want you to cancel the order yourself so they dont have to apologize for pricing error
    4. they're Waiting for market price drop

  • How long does it take to get a refund

    • Should be a day or two if you don't open a PayPal dispute beforehand.

      • The only reason I opened a dispute was because they weren't replying to any emails/tickets & at the time I didn't know you could actually call them (through Apus).

They only acknowledged my emails/ticket after I opened the dispute.

        • They replied to me three days ago saying that they will receive the order in 2-3 weeks and they will ship it with in 2-3 days after that. They also offered refund. Did u receive your refund?

        • Nope.

        • Me neither. I've since filed a dispute through PayPal.

    • Shouldn't a refund be instant? Paypal transactions go through immediately. I'm also thinking of cancelling too.

  • Sorry, seems the common ticket has been spammed to all the users.

  • +3

hmm, just a general question posed to you guys. i am sure that there are some of us who would prefer the phone over a cash refund, dependent on how long we have to wait for. i do agree with koOl that SS is trying to use 'delay tactics' to force us into cancelling our orders. personally, i would not want to succumb to their underhand tactics, if that is the case. i was wondering since they have already offered refunds, they are technically not doing anything wrong.

however, i was wondering with the ACCC can get involved in this, as it is obvious that something dodgy is going on - poor business practices such as inconsistent pricing (the constant change in pricing and change of phone model pictures i believe, is a confusing attempt to frustrate customers into thinking that there is something dodgy and thus cancel their orders - which is also a tacit refusal to honour and fulfil their orders) non existent and misleading customer service.

of course, such views are only my own and I am not seeking to portray my ideas as legally accurate and representative of what might happen in real life, understanding that there are trolls in here anyway.

    • Word. SS definitely need to lift their game.

      BURN THE WITCH (SS)!

  • I feel for you guys.

I once tried to buy a memory card from SS. They sent an envelope with a blank SD card case.

It then took 3 months for me to get my money back.

Never again. I'd sooner try buying parts from MSY than buy anything from SS, let alone an expensive item like a phone.

  • +2

I sent in a ticket to SS regarding where they are sourcing the stock, and got this:
    hi,

    Thank you for your query.

It comes with AUS charger and we are sourcing it from Hong kong.

Thank you again for choosing Shoppingsquare.com.au

    Yours Sincerely,
    Team of Shoppingsquare.com.au

    • Thats good. Strange part was one of their other reps, as we have concluded, have NO IDEA what they are talking about and all have their own opinions.

In relation to Ebay purchases vs. Store purchases:
"All sale related to this phone, including ebay customers, we have to delay the dispatch that's no different between online store customer and ebay customer"

In relation to wanting a SEALED box, brand new, nothing opened or changed inside:
"I will put a notes to the order and let our warehouse team know that, but to be honest with you, I can't guarantee if they will open the box."

As I said, the phone is oversold by expected(?) sales volume, we have to arrange stock, so cause the delay. At the moment, we can give you a full refund immediately if you don't want to wait.

      Cheers,
      Ryan

      Abosolute duds.

      • I've just sent a support ticket requesting that they include a note with my order.

I was told it was a mixture of UK and HK stock, probably the first 150 were UK stock, but HK is cheaper.

  • For those expecting to make a quick dollar on ebay looks like the phone is already falling in value. This Australian stock SGS2 went for under $600:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120748319510?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop…

    • Considering that's unsealed and locked to Vodafone, he probably used it for a while before deciding he didn't want to keep it and he put the stickers back on the phone.

      I can see why it's $590
