Does it means only 1 X $5000 points to be rewarded?

    • Supposed to be 1 X per account. Of course, if you have multiple cards you could test this theory ;)

    • +1

      $5000 lul

  • problem is when I log into Amex, no message pop up and no email notification

    • +1

Give it a few days, then call or go on the online chat to ensure your account is eligible. From what I've noticed in previous campaigns, these things get promoted in batches

  • Is this best offer or do they ever offer more for additional card holder?

    • +1

It's been 5k for many years now (deal comes and goes). It's best if you have an Amex with Qantas or Velocity since MR is only worth 2,500 points when you send it across.

  • +1

Confirmed with Amex via chat that the bonus points will apply if the supp card holder has had a supp card from your account before.

    • Nice, just removed one from mine. Thx.

  • My amex is linked to QFF so I assume this is 5000 amex points? If so does 5000 get you anything?

    • 2 amex rewards = 1 QFF

So you'll get 2500 QFF points.

      • +1

No necessary true, my rewards program is QFF and I got 5,000 QFF points. I believe the promo is just 5,000 points to your applicable rewards program.

    • +2

If you have a card that earns directly into QF or VA you will get a full 5k points. If you earn MR you will get 2,500 (for most airline partners).

Good time to stock up supp card to be ready for Amex Small Shop in November.

  • Please Can someone explain thanks?

Is it that easy to get supp cards for say children, parents, uncles etc? Some has like 10 or 20 I heard.

Are they need to be in the same address as me, the main holder? What kind of ID I need to provide? And Income proof?

Then for each card we need to register online, correct? With different email addresses?
    Thanks.

    • With Amex it's a pretty straight forward form.. gives you a bunch of 'relationship' types to choose from.

You may need to provide ID like Driver's License but the address doesn't have to be the same.

Double check the card though, some may start charging for additional supp cards after a while.. the one I have is 4 free supp cards.

      • I have the basic essentials one (white colour)

    • There's an age restriction of 16. Apart from that, you can give a sup to anyone you want. Doesn't have to be direct relatives. Keep in mind that you are 100% liable for any transactions.

      • Someone said dog and cat and little baby?

        • You can do that but keep in mind that this could be considered fraud if found out.

        • Yes, if your baby is over 16.

    • I applied and they called me earlier this week - they needed their full name, mobile, asked if they were living in Australia, and asked for driver licence/passport/medicare number. That was it - no income check.

  • +1

Income proof is not needed for Supp cards. You'll be personally liable for anything spent on your Supp cards.

  • So just ID is required? Will that person get a credit check on their file?

    • No credit checks and not normally an ID check. I know I didn't need one for my cat or my dog's card.

      • Wow that is crazy we can even get one for fictional name. Surely the system is broken full of holes…

      • +4

They made my rabbit jump through hoops for it to be approved.

        • Ok that's fair enough. I like rabbits.

      • Did you actually get a supplementary amex card for your dog? Cause that's amazing if you did. So you just left all the optional fields blank?

        • +3

Yep, and the cat. Value for when it's Small Shop time and signing up for stackable offers.Just tick what you want on the form. Trust me. Amex don't care as long as you are spending money on their cards.

    • Did not check id when I did it. Maybe get one with the same initial as your name for when you need to prove identity.

      • +1

Like Andy, Allan, Andrew, Abigail, Annie, Angela Murray hehe

  • Wait…. If I create lots of supp with different names, Westfield will check my Id to match the cards before I can buy gift cards, correct?

    • Yes. Myer as well!

      • Nope Myers didn't check my id. Maybe because Bought one only

    • +3

Unless you add them to Apple/Google/Samsung Pay

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Easy 5K points:-)

  • if your main account already has a supplementary card can you add another and still qualify for this promo or is it just for main account holders that dont have any current supplementary cards?

    • +1

Just add 1 into your account. Doesn't matter you have supplementary card before and cancelled or you have 1 card and add extra one.

      • ok great already have 2 supps will try and add another pet rabbit

    • I just asked this question on Live Chat, and this was the guy's response:

The first Supplementary Card that you add during this offer period, will be eligible for you to receive 5,000 bonus points.

      • The first one that you add on top of what you have in your account. You can have none or up to 3.

  • How many additional cards can one main holder apply?

    • To get the points? One. In general? depends on the card you hold, check the T&Cs

      • Four supplementary on Westpack Black and AMEX Discovery.

  • has anyone gotten the offer on their business amex? i have it only on my personal cards

  • -1

So, the supp card also gets the Shop Small deal?

  • +2

No sure whether it's happening with everyone else but it seems the Woolies spend $20 get $10 back even appears on the supplementary cards when creating a new account. YMMV.

    • good to know.
Just applied for one online. Thanks Op

  • Hang on, so are people just signing up fictional people? I see a drop down option for Friend or Other. Since the primary account holder is liable, they don't seem to do any verification. Can anyone confirm they've done this?

    • I added my spouse as an additional cardholder on Friday. Surname is hyphenated, omitted hyphen (so it fits into the form's surname field), supplied spouse's (optional) licence number. Today received a call (!) from AmEx to confirm some details before the application can be processed (apparently the supplied surname didn't match surname during licence check). So, assuming the rules are not as relaxed as some may think or maybe it was just a bad luck for me.

      • Well you said optional so what if we don't supply any kind of id?

        • Try it, I guess. I actually supplied that licence number thinking they won't have any questions if they need to validate it …

    • +1

They called me to asked for supp cardholder's full name, whether they lived in Australia and a passport/medicare/driver licence number - said they would do some electronic search.

  • I tried to add the supplementary card to Google Pay, and it says that a call to Amex would be needed before it can be added.

Would Amex be OK with me calling up & confirming that the card can be added ? Or, would they need to speak with the supplementary card holder before approving it ?

Would they be upset if I add the supplementary card to the same Google Pay account as my main card ?

    • Would they be upset if I add the supplementary card to the same Google Pay account as my main card ?

Unless you already have five Amex cards on Google Pay, no. I have two primary cards and two supplementary cards on mine. How many Amex cards do you have on Google Pay? I heard there was a limitation of five or six, which is probably why you have to call Amex …

    • They don't need to speak to the supp card holder. I couldn't apply online and had to call them. Next day they called me and asked for some additional details (supp cardholder's full name, whether they live in Aus and passport/medicare/driver licence number) and then told me straight away they were approved and I would get additional card in mail within 1-2 weeks.

    • I had 2 primary cards 4 supp cards in my google pay now. Before that was 2 primary and 2 supp. The 2 supp cards did need to call amex to add them to my Gpay. I applied for another 2 supp cards for this offer. And this time the 2 new supp cards can be added to Gpay directly just in Gpay's app.

  • if you dont see offer in my offers or get an email and add a supplementary card online will you still qualify for the 5k bonus points or does it need to be done over the phone?

    • It's not in offers. Usually shows as a pop up when you visit the website. No activation needed. If you want to make sure, call up and check if your account is eligible

    • According to live chat it's automatic

  • How long did it take you guys to receive your supp cards?

    • I think about a week or so; it was really fast

    • Same, took about a week to arrive

    • I'm still waiting - over a week now. Very unimpressed as every time i contact them i get a different answer.

Running out of time for the spend!

  • Just confirmed via live chat this is good for my Westpac Amex :)

    • Can confirm the same as mine is also Westpac Amex.
