  • was just about to pull the trigger and buy the Dyson v6 for $279
    decisions decisions..

  • +5

Mi Band 2 is quite old now
    not really an exciting bonus..

more like just getting rid of old stock

    • +7

Possibly, but it's not like it's included extra in the cost, this is still the cheapest price for this vacuum either way.

      • -8

yeah but they still chose to add it as an extra marketing incentive for the first 100 buyers
and my point is still valid that this incentive is not that exciting and is pretty old model…
and they are just offloading this really old stock

if they had include miband 4 or something
then that would have been more exciting bonus..

        • +6

just… be happy you're getting something extra for free?

          • +12

@Kazerui: Hey some people just love to complain like it's their favourite pastime and it's free.

        • +4

          include miband 4 or something

Why stop there… they should have included a Roborock the greedy buggers.

        • +1

You could use it for a gift to a friend, donate it or kk present at work.

It's free, so why sh!t on something for free??

          • -4

@diddy50: does everyone have to like everything that is included for free?
so we can't criticize a company's marketing gimmick/promo as good or not now?

if they included a free used condom…
guess you would be happy with that free present too right
since it's "free" why shit on it..

            • +1

@pinkybrain: Because it's already the lowest price and people would buy it regardless of the freebie. You don't like it give it away. You're free to complain all you like just as others are free to criticise you for being a whinger.

  • So where does this fit in on the Dyson chart?

I’ve asked a few times and it’s time to buy one

    • +3

As best as I could tell before I bought one was around the v8 level. Its main specs like suction and battery life seem to be a little better (than v8). However, the Dyson seems to have better minor features like ease of emptying the bin and how the head swivels.

Another thing to note is this vacuum only comes with a hard floor head compared to other entry level vacuums that normally come with mixed surface heads.

I have all hard floors and I bought this last time it was on sale. On the whole I have been pretty happy with it for the price. I have not needed to use the regular vacuum cleaner in the two weeks I have owned it.

      • I thought Dyson v8 had 10 mins on Max power vs 8 mins on Xiaomi?

      • Thank you!
So the head it comes with won’t work on rugs?

I’ve got a few rugs in the house of tiles.

        • +1

          Buy the carpet head

          • @TEER3X: As the head was only recently released. I’m wondering if I should hold out for a combo deal!

      • Emptying the bin after owning one you will find its not a minor feature

        • +1

As in it’s a massive flaw?

  • I'm still waiting for Gearbite to provide me with a replacement battery for the vacuum. The rep replied to me on Ozb but its been 8 days since they followed up. They have good customer service though so I'm hoping they'll follow up soon

    • +1

      Will double check for you.

      • Thanks mate :)

      • Any word on a combo deal for carpet head and vacuum?

  • +2

That new carpet roller head is the bomb!! Got 1 last time and its great, also makes my carpet look great. Now its better than a dyson

  • +1

Mi Band 2 OLED screen may dim permanently (at any time) making the screen illegible. No fix is available.

    • Those are for the initial release version. The later ones had better screens. I got mine when it was released and as you said, it became unusable. Threw it away, didnt want to use it if I can't even see time.

  • +1

    Mine literally arrived today :-(

    • How is it?

      • I've can't believe I got excited about a vacuum but got the Roborock and loved it so went for this. Good suction, pretty quite for what it is, really easy to switch to the carpet attachment. I've not had to empty it yet. That seems to be the biggest complain.

  • +1

Thanks, looked at crumbs in the kitchen and bought one. No more lugging out corded one

    • Yep. I sometimes vacuum twice a day (with a Dyson), whereas before I would do it once a week or even once a month. Cords are a pita.

This thing gets good reviews so it's a no brainier if you need a cordless vacuum.

      • I'm the opposite to you. I have a corded (bagged) and two sticks (LG and Dyson). I find the corded more convenient because I don't have to empty the dust or worry about battery running out.

The only time the Dyson is better is for tight spaces like the far side of the bed, or in the walk-in wardrobe.

        • Dyson would have been the best, if it had a removable battery option as with garden tools and cordless drills.

          • @Bluering48: The LG supports that, however, unlike the Dyson, the LG's battery discharges when not in use. The Dyson remains topped up.

If I decide to use the LG, I have to remember to start charging it the day before.

  • +1

Got mine a few days ago and it honestly is a great product for its price. Looks really good and it's simple and intuitive to use. Cleans rather well as well, as my home is timber floor so I didn't need the carpet roller just the hard floor roller that came with it. On Max it is a bit loud but I rarely need to put it on Max. The emptying mechanism can be improved, but honestly it's not a big deal. The included wall mount is great too.

  • I think I'd miss how my dyson mounts on the wall. The Xiaomi can't do this?

Edit: I had a look at seems like it does come with a similar dock

    • Yes it comes with a mount that you can screw in the wall and hold the attachments so they don't have to sit in a box or somewhere random.

  • -1

Long time Xiaomi purchaser here … anyonese else starting to feel uneasy with Xiaomi and others showing little regard for the intellectual property of established brands? I know they’re good products — I just wonder if it’s in our long term best interests as consumers to reward their unscrupulous behaviour.

    • +2

As in they copied dyson right? Same can be said about Apple. Remember what Steve said… Good artists copy, Great artists steal.

      In this case Xiaomi stolen

    • How about this or this? Do they get a pass, or they didn't copy and just coincidentally came up with the same idea independently?

Or is there a system in place where one can license a patent for their own use?

There are only so many ways you can make a product. Everyone who makes a pair of headphones copied someone else's idea to make headphones. Everyone who makes a power bank, copied some other power bank. You get the idea.

      • LG CoreZero is actually very good however it is 2.5x the price of Xiaomi so I would take Xiaomi anyday

  • Carpet roller head worth it?

    • If you have carpets….

      • Saw the below review. That's what we need to know. Besides it does not come with one is something you need to think about it adds up to $347.94

  • Wonder will this stack with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/480089 ?

    • +1

"Cashback bonus is stackable with all active promo codes on eBay regardless as to whether they are promoted on Shopback or not."

  • Ooof this, or the V6 Dyson for the same price at Bunnings?

    • I presume the Dyson will include a carpet head. And the lack of need for a bulky travel adapter. I'd personally go with the V6. As a bonus you get easier warranty.

      • +1

Gearbite's Dreame comes with an Australian charger since a few months ago

        • That's good news.

You still need to buy a carpet head which will make it cost more than the V6 in the end, and I'd rather do warranty with Bunnings than a grey importer.

Paypal will cover your return shipping for 150 days. After that, I think it's going to come out of your own pocket.

    • I helped a friend move out of her place and was able to compare her V6 and my Dreame. My Dreame cleaned much better hands down, even without the carpet head at the time (her bedrooms had very thin nonfluffy carpets though). Dreame has a higher suction and I think longer run time but you'd have to double check and compare the specs.

      • How do you find the bin emptying system - I've heard it's a hassle as it just opens a lid rather than pushing the contents out (like the V6 and above)?

        • Lid pops quickly, but I usually have to use my fingers to pull out the dust, hair and hay (indoor guinea pigs). I don’t find it a hassle personally but I can see how some people might.

  • +6

Carpet head arrived today (bought it with the 10% off code on Friday). Not even salty that the price has dropped heaps since I bought it, because it was definitely worth it!

My review on the carpet head:

Really happy with this purchase. I have 3 different types of carpeting in my house, thin Ikea rug in the dining room, a soft low pile rug in the living room, and thick medium pile carpets in the bedrooms. I have guinea pigs in a cage in the living room so the rug there often gets hay on it that is really hard to pick up but this vacuum picks up all of it with the carpet head with a few passes on regular power (compared to more passes with the main floor head on max). The duplex is only 2 years old so the bedroom carpets aren’t too worn down. The vacuum is starting to fluff up the stomped down areas and it looks like it’ll loosen up over a few cleans and feel like new again.

I have long hair and the vacuum with the carpet head was able to pick up a lot of my hair out of the carpet, which it previously struggled with. One problem is that some of my hair is now tangled around the head and I’ll have to pull it off or cut it off. This issue is the same with most other carpet vacuum though and not unique to this one.

It doesn’t clean too well on eco (low) power with the carpet head, but I found switching between regular and max power cleaned my rugs and carpets to a satisfactory level. I had to empty it twice with my small 2 bedroom place, only vacuuming the carpeted areas. The house isn’t very dirty as we don’t wear shoes indoors, but there was a lot of dust that it couldn’t pick up previously.

    • Thanks!
So the standard head that comes with it doesn’t work with any rug at all?

      • +1

It does but it was horrible. Instead of aggravating the carpet, it kinda skimmed the top. I think my previous review is one of the linked ones which I complained about how it couldn’t replace my other vacuum (kmart “better than dyson” vacuum). GearBite requested Xiaomi to release a carpet head because of the several OzBargainers complaining how poorly it worked and I’m so glad they did! It was fine for touch up vacuuming on carpet with regular/max speed, but the battery wouldn’t last last a full cleaning session so wasn’t viable.

        • Thanks for the time you spent to write the review.
It's feeling more appropriate to buy this with a real user review/feedback.

        • +2

I had no idea we had enough clout to get China to release a product just for us.

    • Thanks for your review. I had the same experience with the default floor head which isn't good except for tiles and floor boards.

      It is bad for carpet.

Xiaomi cheapen out on this and should include carpet head free of charge. We are spending close to $70 for another accessory which makes the original savings pointless.

Dyson does come with that head already and battery can be changed by ordering parts from them.

So this makes a bad point on Xiaomi vaccum

Xiaomi better take note of this because frankly I won't buy another from them when they either deliberately force us to buy another accessory to maximise use of their unit

      • +1

At least Gearbite are now including it as a bundle for $346 with the coupon. When I bought my Dreame, I paid $320 back in without the carpet head and with the Chinese/US plug in February! I know some of the other Xiaomi vacuums do come with a carpet head (e.g. Roidmi F8), but I agree it should be a standard inclusion.

        • +1

Agree it should be the same like Roidmi….
I just don't want Xiaomi to become come RipMi <Off>

It's fine to keep going and be a great artist. But don't get greedy….

  • i just ordered and was charged twice… email confirmation says one unit. Order number 08-03800-95596

    • +1

Please let me know your ebay id by oz message, I will happy to check for you.

  • +2

Couldn’t afford it but took the bite anyway 🍎

  • Are the batteries user changeable?

    • nope :(

  • +1

now decision time, BigW ebay is selling Dyson V7 Animal for $409, and this dreame,
Which one do you recommend ?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dyson-V7-Animal-Origin-Handstick…

    • +1

Consider you need to buy the carpet head that's only $70 more for a locally supported product and after sales service I would go dyson.

      347.94 including the head

My Dyson V6 has been 2.5 years battery died but ordered one and still going strong

Xiaomi I don't expect anything after 2 years

I simply paid $85 for a geniune battery which works just the same when I got my v6 brand new.

      • +1

It's a bit disappointing that a battery only lasts 2.5 years.

        • That's how it is when you use it everyday your car battery also only last this long nowadays

          • @neonlight: I vacuum twice a week. Sometimes only once a week.

It doesn't get dirty enough on a daily basis to do it every day because I don't have pets.

      • my dyson v6 battery lasted under 3.5 years. I used it on average 2 times a week, for a short-ish time. I'm disappointed that the battery died at all. I've pulled it apart and every battery is perfectly charged. The BMS chip is likely what is to blame.
Probably will buy an aftermarket battery for the v6 and then sell the whole thing second-hand, and get this Dreame v9.

        • Consider car batteries work for like 2 years until unable to hold or on low charge. I don't expect batteries to last these days. This is not 90s or early 2000s quality is not there any more
3.5 years is already good run
don't expect this Xiaomi can go over that

  • Had to laugh when I saw the pic. There is nothing electrical on this planet that Xiaomi can't copy :-)

  • -3

same price for a dyson in bunnings. i would go dyson.

  • Wow, there is a new version, no wonder that price is going down.

    https://www.mi-store.com.au/xiaomi-mi-handheld-vacuum-cleane…

    • $500….you won't be paying that for a Xiaomi

      • You won't, because that's RRP. No one buys Xiaomi products at RRP.

They wait for a sale, which never takes long.

For example, the price for this V9 with carpet roller when not using the ebay code is $406.95.

  • Has anyone found that the canister is hard to release and also close? Or is mine possibly defective. I also find I have to run the vacuum over a couple times to pick up dried cakey mud that gets left by my partners work boots

    • +1

Mine arrived today & I would not describe as difficult to open or close. Poss. defective? I just push the red button and it pops open & snaps back in, fairly easily to close.

  • How can i tell if I'm elegible for the Free Mi Band 2 or not?

    • You can't. It's all part of the fun.

  • -2

Xiaomi Dreame cordless Vacuum Cleaner VS Dyson V8
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGxbl9ZYL1Y

  • big fan of xiaomi products however i did see a few youtube comparisons and i would pay a little more for a dyson, does anyone know the best current deal for a v8 with any ebay coupons?

  • rep any deals on the f8? i do prefer the auto button on the f8 as you dont have to keep your finger on the trigger, i cant understand why xiaomi did this

  • Does this come with a au plug?

    • It's in the description.

  • how does the mount work? I'm in a rental and can't drill into walls.

also, with my current (corded) vacuum, if I want to do edges/skirting boards while I'm vacuuming I just pop off the metal pole and go along the edges. is it as easy to do with this, or would I need to detach the pole and add the different attachment?

  • Does anyone no if there are still free mi band 2?

What about battery replacement for this brand? Would it be easy to buy one?

Is the extra carpet roller necessary or will it work ok on carpet without this?

    Thanks

  • Got mine yesterday and while opening found that the seals to the box has been opened before. Also there were some markings on the handle of the unit. Anyone else have the same experience?

    Keen to hear others feedback.Cheers

    • Looks like one thats been returned and resold

      • They reckon they open the box to change the power adapter and manual. Not sure. Is yours fully sealed? Any pics you can post? Thanks

        • Mine was fully sealed properly, no pics though, box already in the bin

      • Yeah mine was basically perfect, not like that.

  • Bit the bullet and bought one. I told myself I'll wait until the carpet roller head came out and now it has so no more excuses for holding off.

    Fingers crossed it's good.
