American Express Velocity Platinum - 100,000 Bonus Points, 1 x Return Flight with Minimum $3000 Spend within 3 Months ($375 AF)

240

Good Afternoon,

Received an email regarding this offer. Even though it displays 50,000 bonus points on the Velocity Website, the link that leads to AMEX displays 100k points. I am guessing Velocity still haven't updated their website.

    • Yes, standard exclusion with all new AMEX sign ups. Will add to the post, thanks.

  • 50k spend to get the status credits!

    • will need to buy a car on the credit card to hit that kind of spend!

      • Depends how serious you are about it. If you can put everything on your card, such as your rent it may be do-able, but 100 velocity status credits isn't much, a return flight from Melbourne to Perth on Freedom tickets would net you 90 status credits.

  • -1

Complimentary Virgin Australia return Economy domestic flight between selected cities each anniversary year.

That means you have to wait for a year. You don't get it after your spend $3000 in 3 months.

    • +2

The $3k spend in 3 months is only for the bonus points. You get the complimentary flight after your first statement is issued (from memory). You then continue to get a complimentary flight each year until you cancel the card.

  • +1

For anyone wondering like I was - minimum credit limit is $3,000
Maybe this can be added to the description.

  • Are there referrals for this card? If so, are they on top of the 100k bonus?

  • Anybody ever have any trouble qualifying for the 18 month period after doing the Westpac bundle (amex card is included but I declined to take it after they started my application) - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/413815
    Never received the card either.

    • When I checked a while back the 18 months doesn't apply to people who received the Westpac bubdle. Be good to see that in writing somewhere? Admittedly I haven't researched online yet.

      • Have checked with amex directly to see what they had on record. It didn't count. Although I got shafted a month because when nab discontinued their amex it didn't count as "canceling" amex even though the card was no longer usable
