Be sure to rinse water through the paper filter first. Tastes much better.
Minimum shipping cost is $9 so not a great option for anyone who doesn't live a few minutes from the single place you can collect in person.

Youre Claiming someone can make it to an aldi for less than $3.50? The petrol would cost more, not to mention your time and effort.
You'd also have it from coffeesnobs by then and can buy delicious beans at the same time.

Aldi tuna in the rectangle tins actually taste far better than John West tuna. I rate them right up there with Sirena.

I managed to lose a couple of parts to my Barsetto. Unfortunately had to fork out $70 for another one to be sent out. I love the espresso that it produces. Nice amount of crema
They're just different, Aeropress is a filter coffee. I agree, pleasantly surprised with my Barsetto. Didn't expect such a decent tasting espresso out of it.
The Aeropress is more forgiving with grind as pressure isn't a factor and you control the steep time, and is a bit more transparent in flavour so it'll remain my standard for judging my roasts. The Aeropress can make more coffee, single shot limitation of the Barsetto is my main issue with it. Aeropress is also better if you need to use a microwave to heat water as you can do so in the plunger, or if you want to brew directly into a mug.
Both have value, it's just what sort of coffee you prefer and what your uses are.

I have had my Aeropress for over 5 years now and it's my go to traveling and camping coffee maker.
Quick tip if you do travel the Porlex Tall & Mini coffee grinders both fit inside the handle/slide of the Aeropress (unless the design has changed) which saves a bit of space.
You can also get stoppers for the handle/slide so you can store pre-ground coffee in there is you don't want the hassle of fresh grinding.
Decent coffee maker. Took mine to Greece recently but it snapped in my suitcase. Ended up getting a Nanopresso to replace it, which is a much better machine for travel.
Heavier, but also smaller.
Paired with a Porlex grinder, it's a winning combo.

They might have had too much coffee in it, their coffee too fine, or too dusty (low bean density, roasted too far, ground in a sub-optimal grinder). It shouldn't be too much of a struggle.
Does aldi really expect customers to buy this then some of their 8 month old beans? :/

Anyway, here is my favourite recipe so far:
Brewer Position: Upright
Filter: Two paper filters
Preparation: Rinsed with hot water
Coffee weight: 15g filter coffee
Grinder: Comandante Hand Grinder
Grind size: [fine] 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 [coarse]
Water weight: 230g
Type of water: Filtered water by Brita
Temperature: 80 degrees Celsius
Step 1: Start your timer.
Step 2: Add coffee and 50g of water into chamber and let it bloom.
Step 3: Stir and then wait for 30 sec.
Step 4: Add 180g of water into chamber.
Step 5: Wait until timer is at 1 min 5 sec, then stir.
Step 6: Replace plunger on top of the chamber and start pressing.
Step 7: Press until the coffee grounds in the chamber are just visible above the water line and stop.

Thanks. Might give it a try. ALDI in Europe has numerous products which are award winners/highly rated (google Aldi Xmas products), unfortunately we don't get many of them. Early days though. Good to see they're working with Aussie suppliers to create good products.

Aldi Aeropress
Great device, I have an Aeropress and the Puck Puck cold drip maker. I also have the Prismo add on but never used it. I mostly use mine for cold drip and it is awesome. Mainly as I have a good coffee machine/grinder at home.
It it horses for courses, Aeropress not a multi person device. But you can make much better coffee than from a french press/plunger, this is mostly due to the paper filter, but partly due to the brew methods. Some quick reading online will show you this there is no argument really. If you want to learn more about different coffee bean origins and flavours the Aeropress is going to take you a bit further than a plunger. As others have noted good travel or camping coffee device too.
Technically paper filters provide better filtration (reduction in fines) this has been tested by coffee nerds and there are some articles on the forums, but the metal filters are pretty close.
Considering this includes paper filters this is a rippa deal. It is not uncommon for pay $50 for an Aeropress plus $10-$15 for filters from a cafe or bricks and mortar coffee store (e.g. not online).
This will be my Fathers Day present to myself.
After reading all the comments, does anyone know if the hand grinder is a rebrand of something else? Just tossing up whether to grab that too.

See if you can find reviews on the alternative brewing website. I bought a "cheap" hand grinder for about $30 and it didn't last a month. I now have a Hario grinder (costs around $55) and the quality is amazing.
Look I post this incase it assists others but as someone who knows a thing or two about coffee (roasting my own coffee for best part of a decade) - IMHO the Aeropress is ok but overrated for what it actually is. Again I've had one with a SS Coava disc filter for about a decade, though haven't used it for many a moon.
In a nutshell, my personal theory is that most of the taste benefits folks find in using these is due to brewing technique refinements (not using boiling water, not so long steep times, not over extracting) rather than the Aeropress having some extraction edge over say a french press/plunger (which I personally prefer).
That said it's excellent if you're making coffee for just 1 person…..or are travelling/at work……and clean up is very good as well.
But otherwise I'd say you can get as good or better results via a plunger, using the Aeropress 'recommended' techniques and fresh coffee thats ground on-demand.
And as others have said do not buy these expecting 'espresso' style coffee, it's a different style - both are excellent but different critters.
Yeah agree with positives you mentioned! Especially with the ease of clean up. I have this and a moka pot to cover my needs.

I went to a cafe and got some beans ground up for me there and I told them I was using it for the aeropress. When I used it in the aeropress the water just goes right through even before I push the press down. I’ve tried so many different ways, so I think it’s the beans.
What grind do the beans have to be to work? Fine?
This might be silly, but did you use a paper filter?
If you said “Press” they may have thought French Press? That would explain the coarse grind.
Just shooting ideas out there. Shouldn’t just pour through (though, if you do the inverted method, you can do it upside down. Google “areopress inverted” and you’ll get some hits. Can be hazardous when you do it the first ime, early in the morning and end up covered in coffee)
Yep I used the paper filter. Tried the method of wetting it first too. I tried the inverted method, different temperatures. I bought some new beans today and made sure I specifically asked for aeropress and told them about my last experience. She was nice, looked it up said it needed to be about a 6, and told me if it doesn’t work out, she will ground me some new beans. Fingers crossed I got the right grind this time.
I bought a no name hand grinder off Amazon that is a clone of the Javapresse. And I find the grind about 3 notches back off a fine grind seems to work well. I've only used the Aeropress 3 times since picking mine up but so far so good. Doing the inverted method.

@PropertyPig: Here you go. I did in fact buy the Aldi grinder the same day but it was very plasticky and the crank handle squeaked like anything plus the slide around lid was very small to add beans and two tiny little protrusions snapped off, so took it back for a refund. I’d avoid them if you can.
This “Noosa Life” branded one (which actually has no name on the grinder itself, just a sticker on the side of the box) is working well and feel quite sturdy.

Same. I have a s/s filter but never use it. I like my coffee very strong and love the "smoothness" of the paper filter.
