Anyone has experience with this vs aeropress? Thanks

    • +10

New favorite portable machine. I've got a few: Aeropress, Minipresso, Staresso, and the typical stove-tops. This one is great for K-cups. Not so good for ground coffee - the Staresso handles high-pressure better - but the Barsetto with K-cups is awesome. Not fantastic espresso, but better than most anything else. And really consistent - every cup quite good. We used the heck out of it in a recent climbing trip to France with seven espresso snobs. Everyone gravitated to the Barsetto over the Staresso pretty quickly.
      amazon review

      • Thanks. Easy to clean like aeropress? Thanks

        • Not as easy as aero press since Barsetto is with the threaded connections. But it came as a single piece with a double walled plastic mug with lid build in

          • @azm: is it a solid make? I also travel with my own coffee set up haha foolishly took a cheap plunger on meet recent trip which broke 2 weeks in .

            • @CheapskateQueen: It is quite a solid product. I like the idea with the thread connections. I managed to make a decent espresso with creama with coffer grounds (the taste is comparable to my DeLonghi dedica machine). It is quite easy to clean.

      • +2

Thanks for the review. So you’d recommend the Staresso over this if using with ground coffee?

        • +1

It was written by amazon reviewer. I think I prefer this over aeropress. If you like to make a long black, aero press is better.

      • Have you tried reusable metal k pods?

  • Amazon reviews seem to be promising…

Is there still a free prime sign up..thing? Remember seeing some Amex promo as well.

Edit. Ok, in an attempt to overcome my neg, I found you can sign up for a 30 day free prime trial, and my Westpac Amex had a 40% credit back statement credit (which I think applies to this as I previously thought that Prime was a streaming service).

Even without it, get 3 for free shipping and gift the other 2 as work place Xmas deals.

    • Why did you even get negged?

      • +1

I plussed, as I saw helpful info. But I'm guessing it's due to previously not looking for themself, for something simple.

General Observation Only, Not This Poster:
Hoomans are devolving when it comes to investing their own time for information/anything they want. Social media, txt, email, spilling into everything else. We generally take the absolute shortest path. I see 100 examples a day, everywhere.

        • I'm sure that is true. However I read the Amazon Prime deals and couldn't really work out what it was for (a streaming service? a delivery service? all of the above). Hoping someone would connect the dots. But all good.

Still don't really know what it all is. So I just signed up, saved the Amex deal to my card and will see what happens. Cancel it inside a month I guess. If I do an get Amex credit, even better.

  • easy to clean ?

also check out the one with stainless steel insulation cup:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Barsetto-Machine-Portable-Stainles…

    • thanks mate, bought the insulated version :)

      • bought extra for Christmas gift :)

      • They're both insulated, but I'm a bit worried about glass when traveling.

        • It isn’t a glass but double walled plastic and quite strong and light.

  • Thanks, bought some as gifts.

  • Thank you. Got one for a Christmas Present.

  • Does anyone own one of these, and know if there are supermarket pods that are compatible?

    • It says k-cup compatible, but my limited (20 min) research indicates that k-cup is a USA available pod. I can’t detect any compatibility with Aldi or K-fee (caffitaly) pods we have here.

      • +1

Search for the review from webmans on the Amazon listing and read the last few lines. "Moreover the new onces came with a new capsule holder which has sharp pins to puncture the nespresso capasule and redesigned pressure plug"

        • +1

Yes I read that too, but two things concerned me.

          1. The black unit description talks only about its Barsetto capsules
          2. The stainless one mentions k-Cup capsules

The review you refer to mentions new ones. So given these are very cheap, are they "new" ones (as in design not "used") ?

So as the stainless makes specific reference by the supplier to k-cup capsules where as the black doesn't I personally would be careful with buying the Black one.

Anyway its now a mute point as the black is sold out (again to me indicating its was a close out of an older model) while the stainless at this time is still available.

          • @RockyRaccoon: Moot point.

            • +1

@bargainhunter: @bargainhunter my favorite… Urban Dictionary defines it as “addressing the participants of a conference call while your phone is on mute.”

      • I just came back from Canada / US with heap of k-cup pods. Obvious difference is that they are a decent sized pod unlike the rediculous little pods over here. When I get the machine I'll have a crack at solutions to refilling the k-cups and will report back.

        • How'd you go mate?

          • @spy: Sorry, I still haven't had a crack yet (took the machine to work, Kcups at home). I can tell you it does have Nespresso pod functionality.

I think my Kcups had a tea bag like filter inside, so I dont think they would be hygienic to refill, or at least difficult to keep clean.

If you get the Nespresso plastic pods with the pop up bases then they can be re filled easily.

  • Done. Thank you ozb. Hated how much waste pods cause and prefer using ground coffee.

  • I’m gonna be the party pooper and pass on the k cups due to the health concerns and environmental impact
    https://wellnessmama.com/55699/problem-with-coffee-pods/

    • +2

None of those 'health concerns' are actually legit issues

Sure, excess environmental waste and cost can be pod negatives points though

      • Oh, but it's wellnessmama.com 😁

        • +3

true, thats where I get all my scientific information from ;)

    • You can get re-usable k-cups/nespresso etc. which I think everyone who uses pods should be doing, but then they need a grinder etc. and most don't want to do that.

      https://www.bustle.com/p/the-3-best-reusable-k-cups-16909521

  • If you're traveling, is the stainless steel one better in case of drops?

  • +2
  • Thanks. Now I need a good manual coffee grinder. :)

    • Any suggestion?

    • I have never owned a coffee grinder myself; so I am too hopeful some kind souls would provide some suggestions.

      • +1

My porlex has been serving me great.
Variable grind, large hop, ceramic burrs and made in Japan

        • which website did you buy from?

  • +1

    Thanks OP
    Christmas presents all sorted!

  • +2

For those keen on pods, there are decent options from Tripod Coffee.
They’re Nespresso compatible, and are compostable too!
My work supplies them and we’ve found they work well to satisfy those concerned about waste, resources and also coffee taste ;)
If Nespresso capsules work in this unit, then the Tripod ones should work too.

  • +1

    For a second there I thought this was a $16.50 fleshlight….

    • +2

Not sure you'd want 15 bar of pressure in that application ;)

      • So it can squeeze 1,000,000 lumens light out.
Chinese lumens I meant to say.

        • Err, he wrote fleshlight. Google is your friend .

          • @sambooka: LOL you are right. Batteries not included?

      • Wow, I’ve never been that bar’red up before….

    • Sure, single use only though.

  • Now $22.25

    • No, black unit as originally listed, now not available, the stainless option which is still available was always $22.25 . Which also I think is a better buy. 😀

  • How does it compare to an aeropress

    • +1

      Read reply to first comment.

  • +4

Well this deal really sets the bar. I guess you could say Barsetto

  • I hope one day pods will be compatible to pretty much every coffee machine one day.

To me it's still surprising it hasn't been implemented at all yet.

    • +1

      It will never happen. :)

People still prefer some real fresh coffee (from fresh beans in varieties and more customizable -> grind -> machine ->to a cup of coffe) but pods can't match that taste. Pods are good for quick coffee fix.

      • Yeah, pods just can't match fresh coffee unfortunately.

    • +1

There are coffee machines that take all pods from Harris Scarfe. But hey let's face it, this is life…

Different currencies, languages, iOS/android/PC/Mac/psx/xbox, side of the road we drive on, iTunes / playstore etc etc.

Anyway, whatever pod you get, just refill it with fresh ground coffee.

  • Dagnammit…all sold out

  • Well. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to get when and if it arrives.

OP Your link now goes to a page whose title is the black version of the white one I ordered. It's description seems to be a pack of coffee pods and the pictures show pods and an electric coffee machine.

The stainless steel one linked above is unavailable.

The white one I ordered can't be found anywhere.

There is a black one at $390 and a stainless steel one at $477 from a company called Inliar that's just launched.

My order shows an image of the one I ordered in white, but the link goes to the black coffee pods. It's coming from barsetto-au.

    It's all very strange.

    • That's normal for when items are removed from a listing on Amazon. The pods were one of the options available alongside the black, white, and stainless machines. Those machines were removed as options and only the pods remain. The item was fulfilled by Amazon AU so as long as you ordered the thing you wanted, it'll arrive.

  • Cursing I missed out on this one…

  • I bought one and have no idea what a K-Cup is (I thought it was a bra size). What pods are you guys using?

    • G string pods of course

    • At least the original black version is compatible with Nespresso pods.

  • +1

Has anyone received their machine yet? I've got the stainless steel and the black version, but I've only tried the SS version. I've tried nespresso compatible pods and they don't work :(I have no idea where I can get K-cup pods from, does anyone here know?

    • Got mine yesterday it’s the white one. I was of the belief that it would be the black one which takes k cups. I’m pretty sure the white one doesn’t do k cups which is a bummer.

    • Yeah, got mine the other day. Using with ground coffee, tastes great. Easy to clean. Best 15 bucks spent :)

    • Stainless steel one don't do Nespresso. Not happy.

    • I got the black version with missing parts - cup cover and seal. No exchange option but return and refund only online. Anyone received a lemon like mine? Called and got 50% refund from Amazon to keep the coffee machine.

  • How does this compare to Wacaco?

    • Wacaco is a better made product. Also, this has an even smaller coffee basket!

Does the job though with fresh coffee at $15..been useless for Nespresso generic pods. it cant pierce the bottom. Also pressure to pump becomes enormous. Putting full body weight on it!

  • Got the white and really like it, tried a Nespresso pod and it worked without issue (didn't need to pierce anything manually), though pod coffee isn't my thing. Much prefer to use the filter basket, I packed it just like a regular espresso filter basket (ie. espresso grind, tamped fairly firm and above the max line) and had great results. Much closer to machine espresso than the Aeropress, nice to have as an option. I think it'll take over from the Aeropress for me for the most part actually.

    • +1

Have you tried LOR pods etc. Mine wont go close to going through the aluminium pods. Need to sharpen the prongs inside with a small nail file etc

      • Mine is a black
  • Well mine leaks from everywhere. Not sure how you are meant to put the top part down after making your coffee, but hot water pours out of the top bar press. Plus the orange o-ring inside died, I used the replacement and it didnt help. Noticed the very bottom filter o ring was lifting. Pulled the whole section out and noticed the filter was massively clogged. All this from 1 week of use with Nespresso pods.

How do you go about contacting a seller on Amazon? Cheers

  • What I've been doing is press the capsule in the pod holder, then use a fork to puncture the holes. I've already gone through an o ring. Does anyone know where i can get replacement?
