I got caught out with 1 of these eBay FREE deals recently…

I listed an item during the deal period, it didn't sell. It was automatically re-listed by ebay.. Sold after the promo period expired - which i was unaware of, then they slugged me with Fee's on my next invoice…

In essence - be aware with these deals as they expire but ebay will re-list ur item/s if they dont sell, then slug u with fees..!

    • That's a pretty simple option to turn off when you're listing it.

Yeah it is, but i presumed the promo was good until the item sold…

      • Care to provide the details? It used to be that you can specify the duration. However, feeBay now changed it (for buy it now). I cannot find the setting to disable auto relist anymore.

So, for the moment, I need to remember to cancel the listings after a week or two.

They removed the option for Buy It Now. There’s only “Good till canceled” listings which auto relists every 30 days

        • There is a new checkbox when you list "Do you want to auto-relist every 30 days" and you just uncheck it. I only noticed it last week.

  • Don't forget 10% gst as well on anything sold. Appears a month later on invoices.

    • Is this really a thing?

      • Ummm I sell a lot and i've never seem this… 10% on final value fees maybe?

      • No, not on personal accounts.

  • Fine print: "This offer is only available to users who have never sold an item on eBay before or have not sold on eBay in over 12 months."

    • The terms and conditions are very sneaky.

  • The usual weekend promo is up anyway, $1.10 final fee if you list today etc.

    • This is the deal for most people list week. $1.10 FVF for $10+ items up to 10 items. This weekend, the limit is 10 items. Not that it matters to me as I don't have the capacity to sell 10 items in one week.

These are also targeted now. I haven't had any kind of selling deal in months on my main account, and my side account just got a 'Sell 5 items free' deal this weekend after months of nothing.

      • I used to get emails about it every week too, but now you have to check the Seller Center thing. Kind of annoying but it seems to be up most of the time

        • Oh, I've been checking every week, both accounts. I've had like 20 drafts ready to list the moment I get an offer, but I've had absolutely nothing.

I'm in the same boat as you. I used to get those promos weekly, but I haven't received anything for 2 months now.

The promos ceased when I sold a bunch of items 3 months ago.

            • @Ausdave: I used to get the offer all the time, the second I added some draft items .. the offer stopped. It could be coincidence, perhaps not

      • To me, it also feels like eBay somehow knows which one my main account is. I tend to get less offer on my main account. Can sell on my sub-account, but it is more restricted.

I really should explore Facebook marketplace. Even with the $1.10, there is still the PayPal fees.

    • I have received any discounted final value fees for ages! Not to mention FREE FVF is dry up

  • no dice on 3 accounts :-(

  • Says it's expired for me. Weird.

  • I got the promo, but it says it ends in 3 days… great?

  • FWIW when listing items on gumtree recently (who eBay own), I’ve received promotions allowing two items from gumtree to be listed on eBay per month without listing or final value fees. You click a button following the gumtree listing and it automated pre-populating a lot of the info that it can get from Gumtree. You can use either an auction or buy-it-now listing.

Might be worth a look if you don’t get this deal. There’s no obligation to list the items at the same price if you cross list, so use that as you see fit. You may have to deal with the mob on gumtree that make silly offers which is probably the one negative.
