  • Mine keeps declining when using 28 degrees

  • yikes bought it last night with the cashreward 60% cash back. Cancelling now - they have 30 day refund policy. It didn't work with my chromecast for Hulu properly anyway, but if i get it again obviously i'll start a new customer and use this :)

great vpn, got my cashback into my bank recently from last time they had 85% cashback! (back in june?)

    • I'm still waiting for the investigation/assessment on mine from the 80% deal in may…
Provided receipt and all proof of payment but shopback still hasn't given me the money.
Was originally excepted to be done by june, then delayed to july and is past its jun 19th complete by date.

Bleh. Can't believe I'm waiting months longer for cashback on a worse deal.

      • +2

I am starting to face the same issue.
        1. Shopback did not track my purchase
        2. I tried to report missing cashback. They asked for Order ID. I provided the Order ID obtained from NORDVPN. Shopback said it's not in right format.
        3. I emailed Shopback - [email protected]. Still not heard back.

        • +1

I've been emailing them on and off since I submitted the request.

They have all the information that proves I made the purchase, including browser history screen shots to prove I clicked their link MULTIPLE times before being sure I had it active.
They've asked now, 3-4 times for order ID/invoice. I provided copies all 3-4 times.
They then asked for proof of payment (even though I'd provided proof of order) which I provided.

Now they've gone silent on me.

I wouldn't have bought anything if it weren't for the promised 80% cash back.
I've tried to cut spending out of my life as much as possible since I had a temporary well paying job, but I thought "f it, with the cashback its basically costing next to nothing, why not!"

Now I'm 95+USD out of pocket with a service I've used a handful of times at most in 3 months.

        • +1

Similar issue here. Shopback didn't track my purchase and had to manually lodge a cashback request. I did manage to obtain the Order ID though, which is the invoice number. You need to create an invoice first in NordVPN my account and the Order ID is in the format of INV-XXXXXX. Hopefully this helps.

Are they on the verge of bankruptcy? 85% cashback and US$16 three year deals seem odd to me. Is this usual for NordVPN?

    • +2

They do it regularly I purchased from them a few years back with a similar discount.

    • yes the extremely cheap pricing has me concerned as well and I'm already a customer.

    • +1

Yeah the Getflix 30 years for $30 deal came about a year before Netflix stopped allowing easy DNS unblockers. Fair guess that they had advance warning and tried to make the most of it before business suddenly got much tougher. They are still around though.

    • +2

All VPN's have inflated "normal" pricing.

    • +1

I'd be more worried about an influx of users and their servers slowing down.

    • potentially Nord and other VPN companies will be losing a LOT of endpoints (and customers) in Russia and China over the next year or two.

  • +1

For some reason I have to disconnect from Nord every time I want to use kayo as it buffers and drops the stream. Anyone else have this issue?

  • +1

No love for existing customers 😢

  • Wondering if I should get Nord or stick with Ivacy?
Recently bought the Ivacy Lifetime (5yrs) for ~AU$36, and it works but their config documentation is severely lacking. I couldn't get it to work with OpenVPN.

  • How does this compare with PIA (Private Internet Access)

    • -2

      More reliable connection, faster speeds.
I haven't tried Netflix or anything like that.

  • Does this work in China?

    • probably not for much longer

  • +7

I signed up to the same 3 year Nordvpn membership when shopback was offering 75% back back in April. I just checked and the cashback is still pending

    • Maybe email them. I missed out on the 75% and 85% cashback deals but the 65% one went through in a ~week or so.

    • I had to manually request mine from may for 80% and even with me sending them all the details, they're still not even at the pending stage.
Was due to be complete by july 19th after already being extended…

Had nothing but issues with shopback for any bigger cashbacks.

Great deal considering the government is collecting all your metadata to send you to the gulag at a later date.

    • +1

How does this work if you select their Melbourne server?

    • So now lets pay a company to collect our info and sell it off later..

  • +2

My purchase link from Shopback says 85%, but when activated the Shopback button only says 30%…

  • How long does Shopback take to track?

  • Nordvpn vs Windscribe pro?

I do have Windscribe pro atm and contemplating getting this…

  • Few little gotchas on the NordVPN deal from ShopBack:

    Cashback is not qualified for:
Promo codes or voucher codes not approved by ShopBack
Gift card purchases unless otherwise stated
    Returns, exchanges & cancellations
    Purchases through the NordVPN app
    Purchases paid for with cryptocurrency

Be careful with the last one if as bitcoin is a payment option, so no cashback there.

Mine shows in click history at least, 2 days to show. If no show on cashback, and NordVPN aint any good, just pull the plug and get a refund. I have a feeling service is/will be saturated at these rates but at least we have time to test it.

    • I paid with bitcoin last time didn't read the fine print and got it confirmed. They could have made changes

    • +1

So, I went in via shopback website and tried to buy. On the Nord purchase page there is an option to enter coupon code again. Do I need to enter the coupon code here as well to get the cashback?

      • Yep I entered it, didn't change the price but at least it tracked and cashback payment pending.

        • Thanks, I did the same and ordered mine last night. how long after you bought, did Shopback track it?

  • Anyone know if you can be logged into more than 1 device at a time?

Eg, laptop in lounge, desktop in the room at same time

    • +3

Can be used on 6 devices apparently

    • +1

Six devices at the same time but if you're connecting to the exact same server you need to use different protocols

      • Does this mean that you can share an account with a mate if you wanted to save money by splitting the costs?

        • yep. I would probably make sure that mate lives at least in the same state as you but yes

  • Could someone please explain to me how this works?

I've followed the link and it says that I've saved 75% off the 3 year subscription and the price it's offered me is USD $118.30.

So, if I pay for this, do I pay USD $118.30 and then get a 85% cash back/return?

If so, how does this work?

    I'm new to this…

    • youve gotta have a shopback account, and use the shopback website to browse through to the Nord website - then they can give you the money back.

      • Cool thanks,

I signed up for a shopback account about a year ago but I've never used it.

So, if I follow the links and pay USD $118.30, will I get 85% of this back?
If so, how long does it take?

        • On shopback website it says Claim time: 75 days.

  • +1

I'm currently using ExpressVPN, how does this compare? A lot of reviews put both NordVPN and ExpressVPN as the number 1 VPN. I would like to know if anyone has ever used both?

    • +1

Expressvpn is amazing and easy to use

      Works in China

      And also Netflix globally

      But… It's more expensive

  • +1

Can confirm that this VPN has difficulty connecting to servers in China

  • Thanks OP!

  • Unless they offer cheap dedicated IPs, I don't see the attraction in playing the whole cat & mouse game. Life's too short.

  • Thanks OP, I just purchased this deal. I have a NetComm Wireless NF12 - and it doesn't seems to support VPN via router? Can anyone recommend a good router for VPN? (p.s. I have a mash wifi system setup - so my router doesn't necessary need wifi capacity).

  • +2

I use Nord but these sort of deals worry me. Way too cheap, VPN providers are businesses not charities, they need to make money somehow. Makes me wonder if they selling user data?

  • Anyone know if this can work on android TV for US Netflix ?
I know that nord don't have an android tv app (ExpressVPN and surfshark have android tv app, which makes things easy) .

About to buy the surfshark 2 years deal, expiring in 4 hours (countdown timer) , so if anyone can advise if nordvpn works on android tv, please let me know ASAP

I don't want to miss both deals.
Surfshark current offer seems good, if the 60% cash back is applied. Nordvpn seems to run faster and better and cheaper, but no good for me if it doesn't work well on android tv for us Netflix

A bit of track but im about to renew my Nordvpn, and last week or so I signed up with surfshark and thought if I like it I would either stick with surfshark or have both (as I had no issues with Nordvpn) as it doesnt cost the earth for a back up.

I found Nord quite easy, and it was pretty much log in to any given server or country and forget it.
But I found that on my pc or Iphone I would find that surfshark would disconnect if I had not used it for a few hours.
I couldnt find a setting for it and should have asked support about it.
Support with surfshark was very good by the way.
I dont remember using support for Nord so cant comment on them.

Just wanted to know if anyone else who has used Surfshark if they had the same issue i had about disconnecting if not used fora hours?

      • Have you used nordvpn on an android tv ?

        • No I haven't.
          Sorry cant help there.

    • +1

Note: we currently do not support Netflix on TV devices.

      Source

      • Thanks. I read that also. Was hoping there was a way to do it.
I think there is maybe some virtual router, way to make all devices connected to the VPN.

      • You're right. Nord doesn't support Netflix on smart TV . I'm using surfshark on my LG TV web OS to watch US Netflix via their smart dns. Doesn't encounter any issues

  • This is very tempting. I'm using Ironsocket right now, and it has been good to be for almost 3 years now (renewal in Dec). It also comes with a SmartDNS, which used to be great, but I find it doesn't work as well these days (and non-geo-blocked traffic is slowed from it), so I haven't used it in a long while. I thought getting US$20 was a great deal, but this is crazy good. 9 hours left. I'm not even on shopback yet.

UPDATE: Signed up for both shopback and NordVPN. Used the random referral link here, so congrats to one of you getting $5. Let's hope this things tracks. I've had issues with Cashrewards in the past. Luckily, there's a 30-day money back guarantee from NordVPN.

  • Anyone with Bankwest Zero Platinum get charged $174 after conversion, or did I somehow get taxed 10%?

  • Need Advice, i paid $174.59 AUD and got cash back only as 131.19 which means it cost me AUD $43.4 which is US $29.21 not US$16.13 as Op stated? did i do something wrong or is cashback quote wrong?

    • Expired probably. Cashback dropped to 60% now.

      • When i did it was still on 85% before i clicked the button.

    • You guys paid 10% extra as you must have clicked you live in Australia

  • Hm, doesn't matter what i do i still only see 60%, has the deal ended for 85%?

    • Seems to have finished now, but from looks off it they might have stuffed up by delaying the actuall removal of the code of the website and misleading me and maybe others into getting 85% when in fact behind closed doors they had closed it and only giving 60%. I'll try to contact them and see if they well honour what they had on their app if not i'll refund.

      • Same here. Paid $174. Got $131.19 cashback. Which makes it a real 75% cashback, not the 85% as advertised when active.

        • It's because you paid vat.

I got 80% cashback lol darn

          • @AussieMark: I spoke too soon. Included in my CC withdrawal of $174 was an unrelated charge. NordVPN only got $157.12. So $131.19 cashback is all correct. Thanks OP!

            • @foxpro: interesting..

I paid Got $164 and got $131.19 cashback.

Are you referring to the $ commission ? My amex says $4.78 commission paid

              • @AussieMark: My credit card says AUD$159.36 was taken out and $131.19 from Shopback. $28.17 difference. Does that seem about right?

        • +1

Cashback does not apply to tax/VAT

          • @ATangk: well shit, would of been nice for OP to say something about VAT. now the deal is worthless unless if you dont pay the vat.

            • +1

@HunterxHunter9000: I suppose something should have been said about the location, but tax is what makes the public economy turn.

              • @ATangk: My Commbank says $175

                • @I Smell Pennies: Sorry guys I wasn't sure if we had to do vat to get it to work or not

I took a chance and did without vat

I think a few others did the same as.me haha we all just guessed

No clue if it affects speed or anything but works fine

Not as fast as exprssvpn tho

    • Deal is back on.

  • +2

Was going to sign up by the 13th thinking the 85% cashback was till then only realised they now dropped it to 60%. Will pass on this at 60% i guess.

    • Still shows as 85% on browser, but only 60% on the app…???

    • Deal is back on

      • Darn when i saw this it's back to 60%

  • Hmm yes dropped to 60%

OP any idea is this is going back to 85%?

    • On mobile Cashback is 60% but on my laptop browsers it says 85%.

    • Back on now. Don't know for how long but.

  • nvm router too slow

  • Ok seems to be back to 85% even on the Shopback app.

  • Practically free for 3 years after tax.

  • Just signed up I was charged 10% VAT it came to about $43 still very good for 3 years

  • I can see the 10% VAT is $10.76USD, but can we select US?

    • +1

Yes I payed in US without VAT.

  • +2

In case someone hasn't mentioned already…

Make sure you cancel the auto recurring payment option, I found it coincidentally when I logged into the website! It's set to ON!

  • I just tried to sign up from Poland as I am on holidays here. They have banned Polish IP addresses from the website. I need another VPN to help me sign up to this VPN lol

    • Use ExpressVPN for less than 30days to get an OZ IP, and cancel it during the trial period

  • +1

Don't forget to cancel autorenewal. 3 year is a long time and you will definitely forget to cancel it unless you have a memory of Sheldon Cooper :D

  • I'm from Australia at check out do i leave the VAT to 0%
