  • I've got a 20 hour stop over in Singapore on my way to Greece in Sept - this is great. I was just thinking I could leave my luggage in a storage locker and make my own way out and about for the day in Singapore. Can I still do this as well? Are you allowed to just leave the airport of your own accord also?

    • For this tour they take you out and back to the airport. You can also leave the airport yourself and take the metro into the city to explore. You could do both if you wanted.

Australian's don't need a visa for Singapore so if you're on an Aussie passport you should be fine.

    • I’m off to Berlin around the same time and have a 17 hour layover on the way back - any chance you’re flying Scoot too?

To leave the airport you need to go through immigration - you just fill out a form they have before the gates/passport check, take it to the gates where they will check your passport and you’re free to go explore.

Not sure if you need to pass through immigration to do one of these tours. Been through Changi a few times - lots to do at the airport, and often just catch a train into town and do some exploring. I usually pay to leave my bags at the luggage holding facility whilst out of the airport.

  • Hasn't it always been free?

Yes, this has been around for years and always free. Still, it's worth re-posting every now and again.

      • Aussie and Kiwi get together in … err… Singapore?
Hobart is closer :P and cheaper too (may be, may be not)

  • cool

  • I was just reading the FAQs for the free tours and it sounds like doing one of the free tours stops you from being able to explore Singapore on your own on the same stopover! Because I have 17 hours I was thinking of doing both, but not looking like it’s possible.

You may join only one tour (i.e., either Heritage Tour or City Sights Tour) because transiting passengers can only enter and exit Singapore once, as per guidelines by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA). Joining both tours would mean that you would clear immigration twice during your layover, which is not allowed.
