Can I nominate this for most useless comment of 2019?

      • I've received an email from Kogan before.

Am I in the running? @Kill Joy?

        • +3

This is my first Kogan post. What do I get?

        • I'm all out of nominations, but your welcome to apply for a Darwin award. You only get one submission though.

    It's a fantastic 21:9 1440p monitor for the price. I love mine.
I've also had no issues with Nvidia's adaptive sync. 144hz would be preferred but 100hz is still fantastic.

    • So this monitor is compatible with G-Sync?

      • i've had no noticeable issues.

      • this isn't on the list of compatible monitors.

        • +1

Nvidia have some rather silly requirements for that list, including that Freesync must be enabled by default. There are hundreds of monitors that didn't make the list due to that. Check out HUB's review to see how this one fares when tested.

        • Not being on the list does not mean it won/t work. It just means it is not on the list and they are not guaranteeing there will be no issues.

"So this monitor is compatible with G-Sync?"
No, nvidia is now compatible with Freesync v1.

  • Bought one, thanks OP. Been waiting for this to match my 3600X and 2080 I got in the recent sales.

just recently Kogan 35" Curved 21:9 Ultrawide 200Hz FreeSync Gaming Monitor $459.99 + Delivery @ Kogan

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/471185

how is this one @ $510 good value?

    • +4

The monitor you've linked is a 1080p monitor. This monitor in this listing is a 1440p monitor.

    • monitors that differ in this resolution are generally anywhere between 20-100% for expensive, mostly due to the brand and smaller niche tech.

    • +1

Compared to this, how is your monitor at $459.99 + delivery, good value?

  • Not the best deal we've seen ($449), but still a good price at basically $510. Bought it at this price as I'm wanting it quite soon.

Any Kogan brand is bad deal, regardless. If you ever own decent brand other than Kogan You will regret buying Kogan. Those good reviews are from people who only know Kogan.

    • A lot of Kogan's stuff depends on who the ODM is.

      https://thinkcomputers.org/viotek-gn34c-34-inch-curved-1440p… (Sold in U.S)

      Different branding, same monitor.

It seems the ODM of this monitor has hit the mark, and Kogan are selling it a good price too. The positives outweigh the negatives (watch video review). There's not much in this price range without going all out (IPS, 144Hz+, Gsync, stand). Those are 1k+.

So if you're fine with not the best display, a shitty stand (which can be replaced albeit more $$$), and a few other issues, then you've got yourself a good monitor.

I hope to confirm this with my purchase :)

  • Got one of this and very happy about it.
Just take note that the screen don't go all the way to the edge, have some black bar around it. Not sure if my settings issues as I can't find anywhere to fix it.

    • It should look like the picture on Kogan's page for the product. What resolution is your PC set to? It should be 3440x1440. Are you using displayport or HDMI, and nvidia or AMD?

  • Yes. Did set to 1440p. Have amd r380 using display port.

    • Maybe you have scaling option set?

      • No scaling.

        • In case you or anyone else is curious this is normal and cannot be fixed. It's just the way the screen was built. It does look a little confusing when you get it out of the box as it looks like it has really thin bezels but unfortunately the actual panel doesn't extend the whole way to those bezels. They could have covered this black section up with more plastic but that would have made the monitor look a lot chunkier.

If you go back to the website and look closely you will notice a black border inside the black bezels on the side and top and above the silver bezel at the bottom.

  • Bought this LG last week really nice VA panel and cheaper then the Kogan, just a nice second option from a better manufacturer $489 & 144hz

    • unfortunatly its not the Ultra Widescreen The on you linked is 2560x1440 this is 3440x1440

      • +1

It ain't ultrawide that's true, but LG > Kogan , and definitely better resale value in future

        • Not going to disagree with LG > Kogan, alas, Kogan < LG on price.

I already have a 120hz 2560x1440, I am looking at getting this to replace my Lg 2560x1080 as that 1080 height sucks. I use the monitor vertically

It's almost as painful as the fact I have to pay $20 postage/ and that I missed out on the 449 Price.

          • @Cain0z: why buy an ultrawide when you care about height? just buy a normal monitor

            • @Ostrk: I have 3 different monitors atm, the current 1080p ultrawide, a 16:9 1440p, and a 16:9 4k atm. I enjoyed the experience if using my current ultrawide when viewing websites. However, 1080 pixels width feels way too cramped compared to 1440. I run the ultrawide vertically.

        • +1

16:9 aspect ratio is awful vs 21:9 ultrawide , it's like going from 16:9 back to 4:3

  • +1

I have this monitor and after the first week had to send it back for RMA, kogan have now replaced it with a new one.. waiting for it to arrive hopefully its better then the first one. :(
