I have this one and yes my unit doesn't have a "ticking" noise but it had more disturbing "continuous ticking" noise (if it makes any sense).
After seeing this post, I took off my unit from the wall - smacked it few times and Wala! the noise is now gone!!

    Thanks BA!

Totally agree with this. Not just the ticking sound, but sometimes also a screeching sound. Glad I got rid of it.

      • +1

True, mine sounds like an old hard disk with the tick tick tick noise

        • This clock has so much slop in the gears, that if you watch the second hand go around, it stalls momentarily between 6 and 7, and jumps a second between 12 and 1.

      • +1

Ain't nobody got time for that!

    • It's more like a buzzing sound. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • +2

    this is the regular price.

    • hmm.. not sure. that deal expired on last year Aug..
but this seems to be under clearance section which will expire in 8 days.

    Usual price.

Didn’t last 2 months in my bathroom, though I doubt room would have made a difference, you get what you pay for.

    • +2

Why do you need it in bathroom. Just a query

      • So true, wouldn't you only have a clock in a place where you spend lots of time in?

      • +2

Why do you need it in bathroom

So in the freezing cold mornings, you can stay in the nice warm shower for as long as possible, without missing your bus/train/carpool to go to work.

I have a clock in the bathroom too, find it useful. I guess I usually have a shower before I head out so then also keeping an eye on the time. Don't wear a watch.

      • +1

I had one in my bathroom and it died quite quickly but for $2.49 cant complain. It's good to keep track of time while getting ready for work.

    • though I doubt room would have made a difference

So all the rooms in your house are regularly humid and full of mist like your bathroom is?

      • Well I am from Nth QLD

Good tip : I popped off the plastic front cover. Used permanent textas and painted the numbers for better readability.

My girl chose hot pink numbers, my son chose bright blue.

Bought this the last time it popped up here (July 2018~). Has been running fine in a bedroom since then. Quiet - replaced the louder ticking clock I had, and the sometimes too bright and distracting digital clock. Poor readability in dim lighting conditions, but otherwise okay during the day/when the lights on. Have been meaning to colour over the numbers with a permanent marker as some have suggested, but it's never been that problematic for me to bother doing it. Put a fresh cheap battery in when I first got it and had to change it once since then, so I expect about a ~6 month battery life. These sweeping quartz movements generally use more battery than traditional ticking quartz movements.

Of all the things in the world, the very last thing I really want to do is… is paint my own clock

    • +3

Don't you have enough time? Buy one of these and you might…..

    • You could always just call the Korean clock lady and ask her if she can paint your clock.

  • Every time I've been to Ikea, it has always been $2.49. The ebay listings are brodens anyway, reselling ikea stuff for $$$.
    No bargain.

    • IKEA charge at least $9 for delivery so the eBay ones are about the same price as getting one delivered from IKEA.

They are selling off analogue clocks because today's youth is to dumb to read them. Sad

    • +10

Do today's youth know the difference between "to" and "too"?

      • +9

And when to use "are" instead of "is"

        • My name are Borat!

    STOMMA Wall Clock

With the white numbers blending into the white clock face, I'm finding this clock hard to STOMMACH

    • I read STOMA, which is next level!

Got 2 of this, one for the bedroom (quiet) and use the other to teach my son how to tell the time. I painted the marks with a black sharpie for visibility.

  • +2

    Silent and invisible too 😂🤣

    • Yeah remind me of this game title 'invisible hours'

  • Not bhed..

  • This becomes lot better looking when you open the front plexiglass and paint the letters with a sharpie

IKEA need to get a grip and ship their products free or close to it. I am interested enough in their products but not at all in attending one of their stores in Feralbourne. No thanks

  • Wish it was available to ship - not really interested in a 100 minute round-trip to get a few of these.

  • It's time for a clock.

  • the last 3 times ive been randomly in ikea ive seen this clock this price.
