    Thanks OP.
How does this stack up to tiger / zojirushi?

  • +1

I have the pressured version, I really like it. Cooks rice well, soft and fluffy. However the buttons and writing are all in Chinese. This could be an issue for some.

My mother, sister and sister in law are all using the same rice cooker and seems to like it as well. Can cook sticky rice easily which is a bonus. But it’s a small rice cooker, 5 cups of rice max.

I have an issue with mine, the cast iron inner pot coating have had some chip, this is not normal as I do not rinse the rice in the pot. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else.

I wanted to buy the Tiger version but I don’t want to spend 700 on a rice cooker.

    • What does the lines on the bowl say? 5 cup? So would the 3L = 5 cup then?

      • Yes

        • Thanks for the confirmation. Xiaomi and their naming conventions sometimes..

    • I have the normal version (no pressured). See nothing special. Same as other cookers priced around $100.
Not worth it, IMO, as with other cookers there is local warranty

      • Does IH cooker consume a lot more electricity than non-IH cooker?

        • I am not sure. Always thought that IH is more energy efficient (as what they usually advertise)

          • @Averell: Induction Heaters are in theory meant to be better as you directly heat the pot, however it really ends up being about 10% more efficient then a normal electric element when you count all the losses in heat transfer back off the pot, the loss of energy creating the magnetic field, fan generally needed inside etc.

If you find a fanless one that runs well you can get a bit more out of it, but induction cause massive amounts of heat in the coils, so not sure they really should be.

    • Why the pressure version is better?

      • Would be faster to cook

That "edible" coating doesn't sound healthy

      seasoning

  • I have the 3L found it very small, ok for max 2ppl portion

2ppl eat 5 cups of rice (equivalent to 9 bowls of cooked rice)?

      • Sumotori?

  • Xiaomi Mijia Induction Heating (IH) Pressure Smart Electric Rice Cooker 3L Out of stock, Dammit!

  • Rice cooker died last week so ordered the 3L non-pressure on Sunday, delivery scheduled on Tuesday. Pity they use Auspost and I got carded even though someone was home all day. Was going to throw down $400 for a Tiger but got this one instead, hope it's worth the money (Tiger one was IH and non-pressure too).
