  • Amber glasses? Is this for people too stupid to change the colour settings on their monitor?
You can even set it to automatically go into amber mode at a certain time, e.g. an hour before sleep.
    Phones can do it too.

    • Some people can't do it because they either work in an environment where changes like that are locked down or the it hasn't been updated to a modern operating system.

      • Unless your "work environment" is on a submarine, why would you want to filter blue light at work? Is it keeping you too alert?

        • It can contribute to tired eyes and headaches, and has been linked to cancer. The jury is still out on that one, though, as you get far more damaging blue light from the sun than you do from a monitor or TV. Limiting your exposure this way may be beneficial, but it only be by a small measure. You'd get more mileage out of wearing decent sunglasses outside.

    • The evidence for it achieving anything is dubious but changing colours is an easy way to pretend to do something.

    • no option in win7 ?

mind to provide the color settings for monitor ?

      gamma / hue / etc.

I recently bought some just like these from eBay for the same price.
Makes a slight difference to computer screen, but what I use them for is keeping dust and wind out of my eyes when I'm cycling.

  • Latest updates to MacOS, Windows and also mobile devices have rendered these worthless.

    • including ipads?

        • Pretty sure Apple invented this feature right?

          Thanks for the help :)

I just had the blue light filter added to my last prescription when I had new specs made. I do notice a difference by the end of the day, less tiredness in my eyes. Agreed this doesn't look like much of a deal as most modern operating systems have it baked right in. I suppose it's not bad if you can't change your display settings because of a locked-down environment. YMMV

    • You can't lock down the monitor itself. Don't most monitors let you change the colour settings?

      • Depends on the model. Some will allow you to adjust colours (known as the 'temperature') but a lot of them will only have a small handful of presets which may or may not help you. It's often only higher-end ones that give you full control of the temperature. Having said that, all monitors should give you the ability to change brightness and contrast; you'll often find most people who complain of headaches and tired eyes are also bathing themselves in the brightest light that can possibly emanate from their display, and simply winding it back to 50% or less makes a huge difference.

Driving down the highway at 130 clicks and a copper pulled me over. Said he was following me with his lights on for the past few minutes. He then asked why I did not stop. I told him it was because of the "Blue light blocking glasses" I was wearing. I was then arrested, handcuffed pending an alcohol and drug test.
