Hi Ozbargainers,

I ran the trial pack containing our 3 most commonly sold antihistamines a few weeks back https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/890202 and while we sold truckloads I also received the obligatory emails; "quantity to small", "price per tablet too high", "I need bulk - but not your version of bulk" etc etc - so at this point I am feeling like Goldilocks with the porridge too cold, too hot and maybe the sweet spot is missing - so good people of Ozbargain here is the warm ;-)

I set the price of this item at $37.99 then thought I could probably sustain it at $34.99 inc delivery (as I keep stock of these items all the time anyway, and wastage will be zero) and think I will keep this combo running as a staple running for as long as I can at that price, but I know what you're all here for so here is another sneaky $4 off for the first 50+50 clients (if item goes OOS after the 1st 50 I will relist again once I have processed all orders, so code will run for 100x orders total).

Item:
70x Hayfexo, Fexofenadine Hydrochloride 180mg; Exp: Mid 2026
70x Cetrine, Cetirzine 10mg; Exp 2026+
70x Lorazol, Loratadine 10mg; Exp: 2026+
24x Ibuprovance, Ibuprofen sodium dihydrate 256mg
Price: $30.99 (with code)
Code: sneaky

And of course the Ozbargain favourites are on show again tonight, restocked and ready to go.

These deals are nothing to be sneezed at

some studies suggest that long term continued use of certain allergy medications is correlated to increased incidence of dementia.

      • +1

That's true for first generation antihistamines. loratadine and cetirizine are second generation antihistamines, where there's no proven link yet.

          “yet”

@donotuse: yes, I worded it very carefully because I'm the one of us who believes in facts. At the end of the day, neither of us can predict the future… I just happen to be honest about it.

            • +2

@kiriakoz: OzB is a large enough sample, you could probably get some good evidence out of it.

"Everyone please remember to come back to this post in, lets say 10 years, and comment if you have developed signs of dementia.."
..That should provide conclusive evidence there's no correlation 😂

            • @kiriakoz: What are this weeks lotto numbers

      • Depends, For some people, when their allergies strike, it's worse than being struck by the dementors.

Do people really need this amount of hay fever tablets? I thought it was just a seasonal thing

    • It'll work for families.

    • +6

If you have hayfever you get through them pretty quickly. And price is cheaper than a 70 pack of Telfast from Chemist Warehouse so why not. Good to rotate through the different types as well because if you use the same one for too long it can become ineffective

    • +1

It's seasonal - but those bloody seasons go for months, I get affected about three different times a year.

    • +1

I start anti histamines in October and run through to December generally. And at times I'll be hitting 5 of them a day.

      Desensitization cannot come soon enough

      • are you having immunotherapy, or when does it start?

besides different oral antihistamines, consider nasal sprays - Allergic Rhinitis Treatment Pathway

      • Just keep in mind that, most second-gen anti-histamines are "non-drowsy" at recommended doses, but once you're taking x5 a day it's a different story. So perhaps worth seeing an allergist if you're not already, you don't want to be snoozy for a quarter of the year!

        • +1

Seen one and getting the injections already. Long slow slog but I'll get there.

          • @ReqelinOz: I assume you mean immunotherapy — good luck with it!

          • @ReqelinOz: yes long slow slog - and unfortunately ymmv, not just results but also application e.g. my skin has never become swollen from injections, but my wife’s has

  • I need them 8-9 months a year, slashed 10ac of seeded grass paddock, and 2 tablet before didn't keep they symptoms totally at bay

    • Sounds rough! In case it helps — consider trying different antihistamines (different ones work better for different people). Also, nasal spray (like Dymista) a game changer for me, though nasal spray addiction a real thing.

Curious to know how you’re impacted by the latest TGA restrictions on paracetamol??

some studies suggest that long term continued use of certain allergy medications is correlated to increased incidence of dementia.

apparently, those desensitising medications can have a negative cumulative effect on the nervous system.

    • +1

      References please? 🤔

      Username checks out

    • +2

Hmm… a bit misleading. I would emphasise that that only "certain" allergy medications are correlated with dementia. Most second-generation anti-histamines are perfectly safe for long-term use, including the ones in this deal.

(The studies you refer to were with respect to first-generation antihistamines like as Diphenhydramine, which is in the original formula of Benadryl. I'm not sure how easy that is to get in Australia anymore. Example study here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25621434/ )

    Oops, I bought the "100x Hayfexo @ $19.99: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/776153"
However I forgot to use the "take5" discount code.

Any chance you can retrospectively take $5 off from the back end?

    Thanks

    • Taking $5 from backend is definitely a nice magic trick.

    • consider it a donation for this cause

  • No pure ibrophen only deals ?

  • Thanks @jason101, appreciate these deals for Ozb members.

  • Hey OP, Any deal on just Sensease without the additional stuff?

  • Thanks OP, purchased!

  • says sold out - all 100 taken?

    • yes - let me see if I can get more stock in at the reduced rate to restock, the suppliers give me a bump to get a combo together and started, sometimes they provide more stock at the original price, sometimes they don't - may take a week or so

  • Just had this delivered, first time buyer.. all medicines are out of the boxes (box seal broken and flattened), although none of them out of packaging, but is this normal? @jason101
