YEAH HDMI 2.1 AND 8K ARE imminent so nothing under hdmi 2.00 really worth looking at unless super cheap and matrix with separate audio

    • +1

To be fair if you are buying 8k gear you probably won't need such things anyway.

      • -3

        no you do

    • +4

nothing under hdmi 2.00 really worth looking

Because everyone has the same requirements as you?

      • -1

no because there are cheap hdmi 2.00 switches

    • If you're going to buy an 8k tv wouldn't you most likely want a receiver that supported multi HDMI input anyway to support all the speakers you would also buy to go with said tv

      • -4

'Because everyone has the same requirements as you?'

  • Is there any loss in picture quality when you run output through these?

  • hmm nice

  • Any cheap HDMI switches to use for 4k hdr?

    • -5

after what came at me above ….. why bother?

      • Only 2 HDMI inputs on soundbar
If run arc through tv there is a slight delay

    • Refer my recent post

      • Was asking for recommendations

        • -1

          the neggers will help u

  • Really want to find one of these with an audio output so they can all share the same speaker. :/ Any suggestions?

    • Like 4 inputs all going into 1 speaker at the same time? This will already allow you to run 4 devices sharing the same speaker.

    • HDMI 4x2 matrix for about $50ish will have both digital coaxial as well as stereo out.

We got one for this exact purpose, to get audio before it got to the projector 10m above.

      • I'm after on of these, do you have a link for this please?

      • This is what I'm after! The aliexpress one doesn't have AU plug. Any recommendations on brands/products in Aus? I'd like to keep it under $25 if I can :/

        • Can't have your cake and eat it.

You either have to choose from an overseas buy with the risks of warranty and slow postage, or pay the Australia Tax to get faster postage and better consumer protections.

Won't find anything under $50 in Aus.

          • @Switchblade88: Fair enough. I guess I'm not really worried about overseas stock (these Chinese ones don't look terrible). Probably just want something with aux output and an AU plug aha.

            • @themadman: I've got boxes of assorted adapters and transformers, so that's an easy fix for me… Otherwise, those AliExpress ones run on 5v so it'd be easy to solder up the cable to use USB instead and plug directly into the nearest device.

The pics don't even show the adapter, so it might very well be a USB cable anyway! Just toss their adapter and use your own.

    • I use this. Works fine: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/HDMI-Switch-2-0-4K-60HZ-HDR-…

Make sure you select the one “with audio separation”

      • Cheers bud!

      • Looks nice! Doesn't have AU plug though?

  • Will HDCP play? I ran into challenges with a cheap switch for my PS4 Pro, Xbox One X and Apple TV 4K so I’m very careful/cautious with buying cheap HDMI switches.

    • If they're passive switches, like this one should be, then there should be no latency, signal routing or processing that would interfere with HDCP. Cheap cables are definitely liable for problems as the copper is sometimes too thin and under spec, and the more devices/cables in your feed the more problems with bandwidth degradation. Depending on the internal wiring and shielding, a switcher can definitely add to the issues - even though it shouldn't.
