    Edisons… Terrible. Don't do it.

    • Whats wrong with Edisons ?

      • +12

        They stole ideas from Tesla

Cheap Chinese gear branded with German sounding name
        Even check with jv

Chinese stuff is not all bad but Edisons only sell garbage, change name when people catch up to it. They were called AGR Machinery before edisons and who knows what before that.

I think Mytopia is part of the same kind of umbrella. Bought a cheap air conditioner from them in December 2 years ago, it was a piece of junk which failed after 6 months (basically the compressor would just not fire up, probably some dodgy relay).

I then proceeded to purchase a used GE Skinny air conditioner, easily 45 years old. Still running perfectly and my bedroom is now nice and cool in summer and warm in winter, using 600W of electricity (versus the 2000W that the Mytopia A/C was).

    • Good to know!

    • Thanks for the heads up.

    • Well the cheap impact wrench they sell is awesome. It's branded Unimac, I'm able to remove lug nuts torqued to 180nm easily with it (usually torqued to 110nm. only did 180nm for testing)

Not sure about anything else they sell though…

      EDIT: typo

      • Which one do you have? The cordless or the 240v? I was considering one but a mate said it’d be useless for wheel nuts so I decided against it

        • I got the Unimac air impact wrench. It comes in a kit with sockets and air ratchet.

The wrench is nowhere near useless. Other than the crankshaft bolt and axle nuts, the lug nuts are probably the tightest fasteners on my car, and it takes them off with ease, no struggle at all. I did put copious amount of oil into the oil port to lubricate the hammer mechanism before first use and put a few drops of oil to the air inlet every time before use.

I can't say the same for the air ratchet that comes in the kit, but the impact wrench alone is worth the $52 I paid.

If you mate says the cordless or the 240v are useless, then listen to him. I've not used those.

        • I have both the Unimac corded 240v and cordless 12v one and they both work fine and do the job. I used the 240v to tighten axel nuts to spec at 350nm and the 12v cordless one to remove wheel lug nuts and oil pan bolts that were stubborn no issues at all.
The only thing I can pick with the 12v impact wrench is that I was a bit surprised at the ratcheting mechanism when comparing to traditional air wrenches, you can hear that the head would rotate one cycle and then impact/hit and it's not as fast as what you normally hear with an air ratchet at a mechanics with its rapid fire. I'm not sure if this is normal for 12v impact wrenches but it removes and tightens bolts fine.
Maybe with the Bunnings/Aldi sale on you can pick up an 18v cordless impact wrench skin (18v compared to the Unimac 12v) for $79 and 4ah battery for $40 instead, a more reputable brand and has an easy returns and warranty policy if you have any troubles

        • I think most air tools should be fine. Theres literally nothing to them. I have the unimac die grinder. And not had any issues. Only purchased it as they were giving away $50 store credit on video review of the product you bought. So it ended up being free as there was no stock on the chainsaw chains i would of bought.

DON'T BUY EDISONS MOWERS! I bought one before, it was good in the beginning, then it became really hard to start after a few months, changed oil and spark plug myself after one year, still really hard to start, I am now looking for a new mower!

    • +1

      was on same boat before.
Then found a way to fix it by pushing plug tip closer. you can try.

      • do you meant to make the spark plug gap closer please?

        • yes. I tried and it works very well on my one, usually launchs in first pull.

          • @fcad: thanks a lot mate! will test my luck this weekend.

    • Glad I didn't cheap out on my mower. I was tempted to get the Edisons one and thought about it for a while. In the end I got a Victor from Bunnings mainly because of how available the service parts are. Have had it for almost a year now, still starts on first pull, or at most 2 pulls are required. Use my car's full synth 5W-30 oil in it, saves me from getting different oils.

    • I find mowers are hard to start if its not choking properly. Check the choke is working properly on it. My rover is like that.
Or if bad fuel sitting in the carby blocks it up it doesnt let the fuel through

Good timing, have been looking at a Delonghi oil heater and rice cooker from Appliance Central woohoo

  • Not sure if I was just unlucky or as others have commented it might not be a great idea to purchase from Edisons. At least for a pressure washer. Bought two and had constant issues from the start. To their credit they did refund both machines after I advised a safety issue of the fuel cap on one machine unscrewing and popping off. This as well as the screws holding the motor to the frame snapping, pressure guns breaking after 30 mins use, pressure hoses melting, starter cords breaking and fuel taps not working correctly/leaking and hose reels breaking. If there is some kind of Australian Standards for pressure washers then these machines would have no chance of passing. As I said though, they did refund and without much hesitation.

    • Did you have to bear the cost of shipping back?

  • Returned both machines myself to their Sydney warehouse. I'm not sure if they would have paid for the return shipping. I just wanted to get the rid of them.

  • i have been looking for a 5kw air conditional. Appliance Central Price looks good after discount. is it safe to deal with the seller?

  • Any of the offers on the TV's any good?

    • LG Oled B8 55" is $1752 which seems decent.
      65" it's $2,792

Warning to anyone considering buying from Mytopia as I had the worst experience with them. I bought a air -con that was not as described and faulty after a month. Mytopia did everything they could to make the returns experience as hard as possible. They eventually agreed to refund me once I agreed to close my PayPal dispute and give them positive review on ebay. Once the paypal dispute was closed they did not stick to the agreement and would not refund me. I had to then make a further complaint to PayPal to get a refund.

  • Why isn't the code working on a freestanding oven from Appliance central?
It says the code can't be applied to my order.

EDIT: NVM. I got confused between appliance central and appliance online

  • Is this code no longer working? I keep getting the "code can't be applied to this order" error and I'm trying to purchase a TV off Appliance Central. It's not supposed to expire until tomorrow…

  • Code updated to "PERCH" for mytopia and edisons

I find the chainsaws seem to last. But it is all cheap chinese crap
