    876.85 via westpac.

    • Wait what? How?

      • +3

If you have a choice account, you have access to westpac rewards.

One of the rewards is 35% of rrp on Samsung… So that price for a delivered Aussie stock phone from manufacturer. It's a deal!

        • Ah sweet. Just saw it. Thanks!

        • I've been looking for phone deals lately and this hadn't even come across my radar - thanks so much!

        • You are so amazing!! That's the killer deal I was looking for.

        • I opened a choice account with them and I can't see the offer. Is the offer still up for you or have I done something wrong?

          • @Bardia: Still up for me, until the 31st of may.
open the app, click the menu on the top right, go down to rewards, choose Samsung, allow it to open in browser. Sadly out of the tab s5e I want, but looks like all the phones are there.

            • @Robc: Odd it says that I have no products that are eligible and no offers either. I think I need to get a credit card but probably too late for that.

              • @Bardia: I've not got a credit card, just a choice account. Maybe check in with your branch?

                • +1

@Robc: Got it through a friend who had the offer, thanks for finding this gem!

                  • @Bardia: Hey, I'm stuck too - can you please help me out - how do I access the cheaper prices?

                • @Robc: Is the shop URL private to your or a public link? Do you think you could share this with me? You would contribute to a birthday gift :)

                  • @ocoolio: It only works via the app. I suppose it dumps cookies or something. Cut and paste doesn't work…

  • Sorry mate but it’s cheaper through Samsung EPP

    Samsung Galaxy S10 128GB $876.85

    • +13

But I don’t have access to that

      • Lots of Ozbargainers happy to help. Use classifieds if you really want this phone, no sense paying $250 more.

You can also get 35% off with edu. discount and that means all you need is a .edu address which most people know someone with one of those

        • +1

EPP is the program name which offers discounts through a variety of locations, EDU being one of them. Here's a list of most of them.

5G version is coming next week.

        • Not sure if you read this article from yesterday, but looks like it's going to be really hard to implement. Needing line of sight to get those speeds, and sometimes not even then, is not a reason I'd buy a phone, especially for such a high price. No point paying a premium if you're tethered to a 5G modem, 4G is good enough for me to get that freedom for cheaper. Don't need gigabit speeds when I'm out and about anyway.

          • @Zazer: If you go out on the train past Sydney airport I've noticed at many stops there isn't even 4G on Optus. I really don't have hope that 5G is going to rock my world it that's the case.

        • +1

The first few 4G phones ate battery hardcore. I don't want to live that again.

        • Does it work on 4G and the ancient 3G?

If not I'll wait until they build a 5G network so that I can use my phone.

        • +1

Almost pointless to be on the first wave of 5G devices. I was one of the first user with 3G enabled devices and my battery was draining fast like no tommorow.

    • I have access to EPP, but I am still jealous of those Telstra staff which had 50% off and got the dual SIM model.

      • -1

I have access as well but prefer iPhone personally :)

But yes those lucky buggers got a great deal there

        • With AUD being so weak at the moment, I fear iPhone XI AU prices will reach a new high. Lucky I already upgraded my parents' iPhones last year (so they cannot expect new iPhones this year from me).

          • @netsurfer: I'm not so sure, Apple's got to know that they bombed with the XS lineup, the XR was the only somewhat decently priced model. Even then, at over a thousand bucks direct it's eyewatering. I'll be very surprised if they stick with it because they've got to start selling more phones, a price drop has to happen. Right?? :(

          • @netsurfer: From what I gather, iPhone brand new prices go down pretty fast these days. 5 months later, XS max 512gb is like $1899 with recent Wireless1 ebay deals.

          • @netsurfer: yeah they'll continue to increase prices and lose even more buyers

tim cook isnt stupid lol. they are transitioning to a service oriented business. if anything iphone prices will drop in future and more apps/service u have to buy to use it normally.

      • I may get one from Optus soon at 50% off but not sure if it is Dual sim.
Thinking between S10 or Pixel 3A.

    • Yet 36 people think this is a good deal, most voting after the EPP comment was made.

  • +15

I don't know why but all I can do is chuckle when I see iPhone prices! $1899 for a phone with mediocre battery life, no fast charge out of the box and no ability to expand storage! & the added bonus that when the new model comes out it'll catch some disease that makes it go slower (weird) :D
I'll add a vote for the Westpac deal I bought s10 plus last night for $976 I was holding out for the snapdragon version to hit $900 but I dropped my phone so exynos it is lol

      • +11

        superior in price :)

      • only superior in user experience. hardware its way behind except for cpu.

        • only superior in user experience.

Have you ever used an iPhone?

        • oh god, the ui is a nightmare for anyone who isn't used to it before. even my friends who do have iphones all jailbreak their phones to add shortcut and tweaks, to a point where its unrecognizable from stock ios. but i suppose "user experience" is very much a personal experience so to each their own

          • @deal seeking missile: im against iphone lol. my sis has iphone, i use samsung. i just said that because all the reviewers say iphone has easy to grasp user experience.

            • @Gerry H:

i just said that because all the reviewers say iphone has easy to grasp user experience.

That's funny because I always forget that there are hidden options that only exist when I press the screen harder.

I don't know how that's easy to grasp.

s10 is also a rip off even with the EPP pricing imo, regret my purchase. upcoming galaxy A70 and some other phones are way better bang for buck. flagships are meant to rip off people tbh.

    • Samsung plays that game too. I've had two samsung phones that mysteriously started getting massive battery drain from forced updates shortly after the newer model came out.

  • Huawei officially banned good for Samsung

    • Banned from what?

      • Trump trade war with China has stopped Google from software updating Android on huawei phones.

        • But they aren't banned.

Google has only suspended Huawei’s access to updates of its Android operating system.

          • +2

@spaceflight: They might as well be banned because now they have to use their own operating system.

No one has been able to launched another OS that has successfully competed with android and iOS. Windows mobile failed, Firefox OS failed, BlackBerry 10 failed and if the trend continues Huawei's plan B OS will probably also fail.

            • @triviums: Except Huawei has the entire Chinese market to launch their new OS.

          • @spaceflight: Nope US tech companies will be sanction by Trump if they don't comply with the trade war ban.

https://youtu.be/qZGpmWrVSaU - this tech tuber explain this.

  • Not sure why Samsung discounting these phones so soon (50%)

    • +1

My guess is they not selling, lot's of inventory

That's why Apple have raised their prices and probably reduced production

The phone market is in a decline at the moment

      • +2

No, Samsung anchor their price high to seat a little bit below iphone. Their real selling price is this discounted price, giving out discount to the inflated price creates feeling of bargain in consumer’s mind.

      • I reckon Samsung is just trying to get good sales numbers.
They saw how Apple's stocks suffered when the sales numbers were pretty mediocre, so they don't want to make the same mistake.

        • they're clearing stock for 5g

      • lol raising price is not how to deal with reduced sale…

  • Black coming back in stock?

    • Hi aarick,

Black is currently in stock, thanks

  • I am wondering if its possible to claim price protection with the coles credit card from Mobileciti? Has anyone done this before successfully? Not wanting to claim yet but if it drops further in the next 2 years..

  • Not really tempting.
Samsung EPP and Westpac App much cheaper.

Opening Westpac account is fairly simple too.

  • I don't want a new phone! I keep telling myself that :(

  • Looks like 35% off via Samsung EPP has ended.
