Does this virtual visa have an expiry date? I have a visa gift card with $1.50 balance I use to sign up for "stuff" where there's a risk of being charged in future, but it expires soon and this could be better than paying $5.95 for a new gift card, assuming it works the same as a "normal" visa card..

    • 6 months from activation

  • No way this lasts until June 11…..Ben&Jerrys national shortage imminent :)

    • +2

It’s going until the 28th May! You have until the 11th June to make your claim. Plus the price goes back up to $14 next week.

      • I feel like they won't be able to keep the deal running til May 28th…. Unless, they carefully revise the claims before sending the visas

  • Add virtual Visas to Uber and ice cream powered Ubers for awhile.

  • Is it possible to get 100 of these, that means $500 free? Do it 100000 times = 500k? For a house? or a studio maybe in townsville?

    • +1

if you have 100,000 phone number?

    • +1

If you can handle 100000 email addresses + registering 100000 phone numbers +a woolies that has 100000 in stock+ freezer space for 100,000+ no dignity+ long time at hospital after all that sugar… then do it lol

      • +1

        Nah donate to charity lol

        • Just keep purchasing the same tub again and again. No one cares what you bring into the store, only what you've taken out

          • @summerz: ohhhh even better!!! LOL

          • +1

@summerz: The store would go into negative stock, the auto restock would order heaps and the store would be very confused how the stock numbers went so badly off…

  • +10

I'm an idiot, went in to buy the ice cream as I was leaving I threw the receipt in the bin…

    • -1

      username checks out

    • +4

Now everyone will be looking in bins for receipts.

      • Only in Perth…

    • Even worse is when you hit 'No receipt'…

That being said, I scanned the two I was buying individually and kept both :) Then went and did the rest.

      • I almost did that too. Oh well, I did end up going back to get another tub of ice cream :)

      • +1

Haha both me and my partner did that. Luckily you can get a checkout assistant to go in and print it for you though.

  • I might be the minority but I feel that I still won't be able to relinquish the maximum value from the gift card.

I pretty much just buy groceries. I haven't even used my $5 eBay voucher yet.

Is there a hack to turn the gift card into something I can use at a supermarket (where I can wait for something to hit half price, for example, to maximise profits)?

    • -1

Add to PayPal account. Use the funds to buy a gift card from eBay

      • +1

        Can’t according to T&C’s

    • +4

just pay one of your multiple bills in life online,

any small amounts, I just put it towards a bill straight away in case I lose it or forget about

      less hassle

  • Great deal. Its real nice cream

  • I bet some idiot will come and redeem $5000 worth of cards

And then it gets cancelled or closes early

    • -3

well if they have 5000/14=358 email addresses and phone numbers,
      id say good on them

  • +9

Epic fail…. I forgot to grab my receipt!!! I am no longer worthy to call myself an ozbargainer.

    • +8

Clear your sorrows by downing a tub of Ben and Jerry's.

    • +4

Left mine at the self service checkout. Went back to Woolies 15mins later and they printed another receipt. Just needed to know which terminal I was at and total price.

    • +1

They may be able to re-print the receipt

  • -1

has anyone found out what needs to be unique to claim more than one?
    email? or email and phone?

    • +2

I don't think anyone would have figured out as of yet cause they haven't sent any visa cards yet (I submitted my receipt yesterday and still awaiting the visa card)…. BUT, when you claim they ask for email and phone number but no one would know on what basis they'd reject yet

  • Thanks OP!

  • What online stores accept part payment on a Visa card? I have done it with gift cards but never with a Visa card.

    • +2

Get a $14.74 Woolworths Gift Card from Cash Rewards for 5% off, then to part payment at Woolies :)

    • +20

only if you are jerk. this is ozbargain, not ozscam

    • +2

you cant return temperture controlled stuff

  • Super exciting need to do this!

  • Anyone knows if I can use this for paying my Youtube Member Fee?

    • It's a prepaid visa card, if your member fee is less than $14 then yes.

  • nice.. plenty of stocks available as well

  • +1

    Anyone received their visa ?

  • Finally picked up one.

  • bought one today

Very surprised every flavour they had was dairy free didn't even know you can make ice cream without dairy

Ended up getting the peanut butter and cookies and cream
Tried it very nice so very surprised it was not that sweet

might need to get another one

    • +3

They have loads of dairy ice creams it just happened that the store you went to ran out of the normal dairy ones

      • went to another shopp,

they only had 3 of the non dairy flavours,

not a case of selling out as there was no empty slots!

anyone, i got one of every flavour

    • You might have made the mistake I initially did. At my local store, there are two sections with Ben and Jerry's ice cream and they aren't located side by side.

      • that would explain a lot!

I now have 3 tubs of dairy free ice cream :)

  • Anyone else go and buy this and forget to get a receipt? :(

    • Yes, gives me more reason to get more and try the other flavours

      • Me too. : (

  • Thanks, purchased and claimed….

  • purchased and claimed, score ! How do I find where accepts virtual visa ? Is it any online shop? Can I order products from Amazon (I have prime)?

    • Dammit , dammit , learn to read.

  • +1

    anyone received their card yet?

    • +4

claimed an hour after this deal was posted but still haven't received anything

      • +2

ok please comment if you do :)

  • -3

Been an hour or so and no email?…

    • Did you get the first email?

      You claim has been submitted.

  • Fyi purchased on the 15th and haven't recieved anything yet

  • sigh my receipt fell out my pocket. Missed it by that much.

    • aw :(

  • This would be the bang of the year if they don't end up sending those vouchers to me :( It's 5 days so far so the wait should maximum be 5 more days

    • business days

  • I'm still waiting for mine..

  • +4

The ice cream itself is very disappointing.
For the usual price of ~$25/Litre i would expect to instantly orgasm on the first mouthful.
Sticking with connoisseur 1 litre which is nearly perpetually on sale for $6/litre and is way better.

    • I find the chocolate fudge of B&J a lot better than connoisseur, but each to their own

      • +2

I got the Brownie Batter one and OH GOD IT IS SO GOOD

        • +1

Yeah I ate the whole tub in one sitting….. FFS!

          • +1

            @CVonC: You're not alone haha

          • +1

@CVonC: It was a close thing for me.. managed to hold off but that brownie was 😍

    • I wouldn't calculate it per litre. Ben and Jerry is very concentrated and dense. You would have difficulty even finishing half the small tub. Connoisseur is lighter and airy. Some might say its diluted.

      • +7

You would have difficulty even finishing half the small tub.

        I finished a whole tub tonight :(

gotta get the visa in the first place :( still waiting

      • Oh good to know. I just did mine tonight. Says it will take up to 10 business days for them to ensure my claim meets the promotional criteria. Hope it goes ok. Looks like its strictly $14 only you cant add money to the virtual card if what you purchase is a little over. Free money though. Looking forward to it :)

    • +4

if i'm understanding correctly best way would be to pre-pay some utilities or rates with these virtual cards.

  • $9 tubs at the local Woolworths - so free ice cream and $5 bonus, assuming the card comes through. Forgetting about the promotion, even at the 'discounted' $9 mark for half a litre (actually a little less) of ice cream I suspect I won't be buying much of it in the future. Generally happy with Connoisseur at much less than that (when on special), for double the amount…. :-)

    • +6

this promotion of free ice cream + extra $5 just shows how much they earn from normal sales that they have so much excess profits to do such promotions…. Definitely even at $9 a tub, it's really expensive

      • I just compare what home brand or generic brand ice cream costs and see what mark ups branding has

        • +1

Overrun has a lot to do with it though, not to mention the quality of ingredients.

          • @stickyfingers: I'd be very interested to know the business strategy behind this deal cause they are advertising the deal everywhere (signs inside woolies, ads on fb, ads on instagram etc) so they will get thousands of claims = $14 lost for each claim… Like if they offered "$4 Ben&Jerry tubs for 1 week only", it'd have most likely been sold out without costing them out of pocket

            • @barozgain:

              $14 lost for each claim

              Nah - no where close.

It wouldn't surprise me if they only paid like $10 for the $14 virtual visa card. I expect there to be a higher rate of forfeited balances with these cards, as they are for a low value. There's probably a gross profit of $7(?) on a tub of ben and jerry's (assuming people are buying for $9-$14). There will also be some portion of claims that are deemed invalid or people just buy the ice cream and forget to submit the claim or collect the receipt, so that's just an ordinary sale as a result of the promotion. You need to add back some admin/marketing costs for the scheme. That probably leaves a net cost of $3-$5 for the promotion.

So you can see how the cost of the promotion isn't really $14/claim.

I'm sure someone will chime in and say my numbers are incorrect. Yeah, they're just guesstimates. I'm only saying that the cost of the promotion isn't $14.

I'd be very interested to know the business strategy behind this deal

It's a marketing scheme. It's going to cost something, even regular advertising costs money. Hopefully the end result is that their sales increase on a regular basis by more than they spent.

  • +3

    Still only $9!

    • I was at 2 different stores yesterday and both had gone back to 12. Went to the 3rd store and thankfully was still 9.

      • $9 online when I checked. I assume they update their prices in the morning.

      • +4

Your ID indicates you are happy to pay $12 for it.

        • +1

Username sarcasms aside, have anyone received their virtual visa yet? It’s a little odd having to wait this long…

          • +1

@ilovefullprice: I have received a "Confirmation of Receipt of your man's health vide Receipt ID 76178262" in my junk email but still nothing from Ben & Jerry.

          • +1

@ilovefullprice: Only received a confirmation but I assume they are getting thousands of requests, so happy to wait. From memory I think they indicated it could take a few weeks?

          • +1

@ilovefullprice: I eould have thought it would be wierd to receive them as quick as you are expecting?

Usually anything to do with cashback tales weeks, if not months.

            • @2024: Just concerned they might not honour them

              • @ilovefullprice: The backlash on them not honouring on a large marketing campaign such as this one would be a lot more expensive than paying out on a few thousand visa cards.

It was just poorly structured, if they were worried about the total redemptions then they should have limited to a max number of redemptions, or placed it at a time where it wasn't on special at the one chain that ran the promotion.

Tying it to a mobile number rather than email would have been a good deterant for those looking to take advantage (Broden) the promotion, but it seems like any random number will do the trick.

      • lol…..tags removed, doesnt mean the price has changed u fruitloop

        • New specials week (wed-tue) old specials tickets are pulled and price for that week are automatically updated in the system.
