It's funny how different the responses are in this thread compared to this other one, even though it's a similar kind of deal.

I think its all to do with the age group of ozbargain :)

Different music tastes. No overt motive in the music here.

Religious connotations, also the apparent double standards doesn't help either.

Plus Paul Dempsey's album is awesome, i love it.

        i.e. bigotry at work.

I have no love for "Christian Rock" or whatever, but clicking on Peccavi's link and reading through the comments really made me lose a lot of respect for Ozbargainers, especially members who have been otherwise very helpful and considerate.

      Big difference:

PD is a successful, Aria winning artist. This album has already sold many thousand and charted in the Australian Top 10 last year.

Mark Peterson is not someone most (any?) people have heard of, and is just another musician trying to break into the industry by offering his album for free (ala MySpace).

I didn't neg or comment on the other post, but this is my take.

      • I happen to know Mark Peterson, and he's quite successful in the Australian Christian scene, so I don't think it's about breaking into the mainstream "industry". From what I understand he's just giving it away because he feels generous, which is consistent with his character. It is also a few years old now, and he's releasing a new album soon, so perhaps it's a subtle bait to buy the new album - I haven't asked him.

    The cake is a lie.

  • FYI - Paul Dempsey was the lead singer of Something For Kate.

  • for people with no clue who Paul Dempsey is, what type of music is this?

similar to or genre…. pretty much anything that describes it would be awesome, just so I (and others) know whether its worth the download.

Paul Dempsey makes sort of 'folk rock' style music. 'Ramona was a Waitress' was probably the biggest hit off this album. It's absolutely brilliant! It's been popular both on JJJ and also on commercial stations. Something for Kate (his other band) had it's biggest hit a few years back with 'Cigarettes and Suitcases'. Both SFK and PD are well worth your time! Love em!

      • thanks for taking the time to tell me about it mate, downloading now :).

        • no worries brother fox! you won't be disappointed.
