Are these much better than the ones off ebay?
I bought the "best one" from office works and it's already shattered the same as the cheap ebay ones…

I'm keen on protection but don't want to be hookwinked..

  I recommend TPU cases for (very cheap) price, convenience (they're very "sticky" to hold and can be removed and fitted in a couple of seconds) and effectiveness. Just make sure it has thicker corners which most do.
  
  They might not look much but they provide a lot of protection and are better than a solid case without padding.
  
  The clear cases allow the device to be seen but typically degrade to a yellowy colour within 6 to 12 months so you may want to order another after you recieve your first one so you have a replacement.
