anyone have much luck with costco giving back the price difference? literally just paid 300 for this a week ago

    • Not with vouchers, gift cards, etc

      Bad luck mate

    • Yes, you have 30 days to price match and they would issue difference refund or store credit.

    • I think they have price adjustmet policies.

      https://www.costco.com.au/member-care/refunds-and-return/pri…

    • Generally speaking - if you bought online, call up the member care number and they will refund the difference. If in-store, you have to trek to the store. Has to be within 30 days of original order

can you port from boost to telstra?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Not sure now but before nah ah. You need to port out to other network to port back in

      • +2

Yes you can - I have done Boost->Telstra (and vice-versa). Though it was a pain to do

        • I just went straight via Telstra chat and it was very quick and painless.

          • @long time listener: Does this mean you went from a telstra pre-paid to the same telstra prepaid again by talking via their chat?

    • Yes I did Boost->Telstra->Boost to use a new customer Boost sim.

  • Any idea if I could use Telstra one to get cellular data for an apple watch with this or would I need a plan?

  • Can this be used as a recharge?

    • No

      • thanks, I could not find information anywhere about this.

I guess we could port out and then back again?

  • When does this deal expire?

  • If I am travelling for a year. Would the this or the amaysim be better to save my number?
Amaysim looks to do a 1 year international roaming package too, which i would like to recieve incoming calls and SMSs

    • Telstra hands down, you can pretty much use your phone like you're in australia by using VoWiFi or VoLTE through wifi or data on the secondary sim (send and receive message including mms, call and receive call). The only few number you can't call are international and 18/13 number. All that for free.

      • But does that mean I would need to buy a prepaid roaming pack every 14 days?

I am currently on a telstra post paid, and while wifi calling was on it it was fine. But anytime outside of wifi and i recieved a call etc i would be charged $10 as it would turn on my day pass.

        • +1

If you want to send texts and make calls from your Aussie number while overseas you have to buy roaming add on, but receiving texts on prepaid is free. I am on Boost prepaid and i received one time codes fine in China. I think by that logic, phone calls can go through too, but i never received any calls so i cant tell you for sure.

      • I assume if you have the international roaming 365 thing with Amaysim it would work the exact same as Telstra?

    • If you are just saving your number I used aldi mobile. It was 15 dollars for a years access, and you can receive roaming incoming texts for free. Receiving calls is expensive though,as are outgoing.

      • I would still like to be able to receive calls incoming and outgoing.

  • Whats the easiest way to use this and keep your number if you're already on a telstra prepaid?

    • +1

You can try your luck activating via chat and requesting them to transfer the credit from new number to your existing number.
Last time I tried, I nearly lost my original number - it apparently was deactivated and went to the ‘available numbers’ pool. I 5h@t myself.
      Never again
      You’ve been warned

  • Does anyone know if you have to be a member to use the bonus gift card?
For example, can I give it to friends/family who are not members ?

    • +1

Yes you can give it to friends/family - There's no need to be a member to use a shop card.

  • its not searchable on website because its instore only? which means no OW price beat possible either?

    • +2

I plan on attempting OW price beat tomorrow. Not expecting the price net of gift card but $256 will be a great price if they honour. It’s on the Costco website in their catalogue so I can’t see why OW wouldn’t price beat it

      • keep the forum posted and good luck 👍🏼

Successfully price beat this morning at officeworks for $256. Was not straight forward and required convincing and needed store manager to approve so YMMV.
The issue is the Costco catalogue is not clickable and there is no exact item number etc, and also the product image looks different.
You need to go armed with good arguments to all their objections.
      1. There is only 1 x $350 telstra prepaid product. All retailers sell the same thing. Show Telstra website.
      2. The product image in the Costco catalogue the product looks different. It’s the same product, just using a different image. Show them the Telstra website, and the bonus data is a Telstra promotion and is applicable for the product regardless of where it’s purchased. Officeworks could use the same 260gb image in their catalogue if they wish to.
      3. Oztechbiz.com.au is selling the product for $275 delivered so if they really can’t match the Costco catalogue then they can match oztechbiz instead.

      Good luck!

      • Did they ask for proof of Costco membership because there’s $60 odd dollars involved ?

        • +1

Nope. And if they did I was cooked as I’m not a Costco member haha. Backup plan was oztechbiz price beat. Only $5 more

I remember reading on another deal some time back that officeworks price beat policy / training was updated a year or 2 back to now include Costco, but never saw any detail about whether you need to be a member to get it across the line.

I think the confusion over whether the product was the same or not distracted them from the whole membership bit

          • @Shaneeo: Thanks.
I might try that tomorrow or day after.
Can you post or DM me a pic of receipt ?
            Thanks

          • @Shaneeo: officeworks wouldn't price match Costco but they did accept OzTechBiz, so bought it for $261. Thanks OB community!

      • Thanks for the tips in getting it from oztechbiz as I no longer have Costco membership

      • Just got mine via OzTechBiz because I guess it's better for me to support a smaller outfit that's actually providing a discount instead of pricematching them out of business eventually.

  • Would it be possible for officeworks to price beat this? Not sure if they do or don't seeing as you need a costco membership to buy

  • Can I port out from Boost to this? Thanks

  • …and yet I'd probably still stick with boost for prepaid over this given Boosts more generous international call inclusions and cheaper roaming options.

    • Boost may not suit everyone although it is a good option. There are more countries listed with Telstra than Boost that you can call that are included in the Telstra prepaid SIM.
Telstra customers also have access to Telstra Plus rewards.

  • Any idea of the SIM expiry on these?

  • +1

Purchased one from their shop yesterday, the expiry date is 2026-06-06.

    • By the way, I got that for $299, unfortunately $269. It was at Lidcombe Costco.

      • So this offer is store specific? I am confused.

        • The Costco webpage indicates:

          "Savings are valid 20/01/2025 - 16/02/2025 only.

          Terms and Conditions:
Only valid in Costco warehouses located in Australia and while stock lasts.
          …"

So I think this offer is not site specific. Sadly I just went there and bought it one day early, without knowing it will be on specials starting from today.

          • +1

@Iamretired: Costco has a 30 day price guarantee FYI. Not sure if it would apply to sim cards (don't see why not) but just go to the customer service desk and tell them you bought it before it went on sale.

            • @Sqz66: Thank you Sqz66.

I went to Customer Service counter at Costco Lidcombe store yesterday, and they happily gave me $30 refund to my credit card instantly.

    Their ad in shop says:
    "208895
    Telstra Starter Kit
    $350 12 Months expiry SIM
    + $35 Costso Shop Card"

Was not given the $35 Shop Card at the counter, but told that they would send a voucher to my email address in my Membership records.

So far, I have not received any emails from them …….

    • +2

In the previous offer, according to comments online, members got their shop card by email in about 7-10 days.

Will be buying this SIM card later. I rang Member Care team (03) 5316 7223 regarding the shop card. They will check with another person and get back to me.

      • +1

        Thanks for this info9 trixieb!

        • +4

Costco rang back and confirmed the shop card is sent via email and "it shouldn't take too long" to arrive.

Do you think you would receive 2 shop cards on one account if you buy two deals?

    • Did you happen to find the answer to this?

      • +1

        No answer unfortunately

        • +2

I checked with Costco staff in-store and you can as it's one shop card per one Telstra SIM purchase. I would recommend buying in separate transactions.

  • +1

Successfully able to PM at Officeworks.
$256.49 for a year of Telstra awesomeness

    • Do you get something in lieu of the $35 gift card?

      • lol, no
        That’s only a Costco promo

        • Damn, guess Im making the pilgrimage to Costco and sending my mum the $35 gift card

  • I got office works to price beat this. It was a bit of an effort. I had to argue it was in a catalog, and the exact same product. They asked a team lead and let I through.

  • +1

Called up OW and was rejected, went in and was rejected

Unfortunately I'm not pushy enough and they can smell it on me. Pity
