Updated. Thanks!
Wouldnt recommend Exynos version of the S24 and base
Why?
People say this so often but really 99% of people would never notice a difference. I've had an Exynos S24 plus for the past year and performance and battery life are both fantastic, never been a moment where I think "damn wish I had the snapdragon version"
7% gaming performance is just about what Nvidia offered between RTX4*** and RTX5*** haha.
In all honesty though Rodent is probably right. The 22(ish)% in battery life efficiency increase for the Exynos is a game changer. Imagine charger 22% less over 3 or 4 years. The two chips are pretty closely tied together performance is close and there's good and bad point for both chips.
the difference is around 15% battery
the snapdragon having 15% battery left while the exynos is flat. I mean unless you compare them side-by-side you wouldn't notice but the fact is the battery life is better on snapdragon s24.
Website says “coming soon” for me?
If the trade in still has ANY THING to do with Asurion, don't do it. Give your old device to a family member, use it to make funny cat videos, keep it in your car if you ever need it to take emergency photos.
Google Asurion and Samsung trade in and you'll see there's no rhyme or reason to losing your trade in or getting it paid out. Not worth the gamble.
Good thing you posted! I wouldn't have known. Looked them up and wow! Negative comments galore!
Thanks for this. Reading the reviews makes me angry. What will happen to those vulnerable people who don't know how to complain? The company get away with dirty tactics! Hope the authority takes them to task.
I have used them 3 times now haven't had issues but I do hear horror stories so yeah they are not the best by the looks of it
I use to be on their side too until they rip my wife off on the S24 Ultra trade in.
Make sure your trade in value is less that $30. Uee a prepaid or one off card. Sell your phone to CEX.
Sell your phone to CEX.
They are also rip offs, let's be fair. But they save the hassle for you of getting rid of your E waste with a bit of $$$
@smartProverble: how about mobile monster? Have heard good things about them and in process of selling 1 phone with them now
@FiDad: I've done 3 trade-in's with Mobile Monster and I had to chase them for payment every time, but no issues with grading etc.
If your payment is overdue, I'd suggest contacting them sooner rather than later.
My first trade-in took 6 days and I wasn't paid until the day after I chased it up
2nd took 16 days and I wasn't paid until the day after I chased it up
3rd took 13 days and once again, wasn't payed until the day after I chased it up
There seems to be a pattern here, hmm… anyhow the first time they blamed the popularity of the iPhone 15 for delays, 2nd and 3rd time I received the following response;
"The payment had already been processed from our end, and the funds should already be in your account.
However, since that is not the case, rest assure that I'll send a request to the accounts team to investigate this.
Once they confirm that there had been errors in the processing of your payment, I'll have them re-process it immediately through a different, faster method so you can have the funds as soon as possible."
Not sure if they're dodgy, or if it's just some issue with their payment method and/or my bank, but I'll be avoiding them where possible in future.
Fool me once, shame on…shame on you. Fool me—you can't get fooled again.
@smartProverble: 1 You can trade in store which is a plus
2 People need to stop comparing to ebay and gumtree price. CEX is a business and they have SKU cost.
Selling to place like CEX and Cash Convertor provide you with security that you will get your money. Ebay and Gumtree (and FB market) can get scammed like paypal charge back, or fake notes on a face to face sale. Just like trade in with Samsung, its great when it works but you only need to get burn once to avoid it for life….
Theres also people reporting no problem…. As always proceed with caution.
I traded my phone and my wife's phones, exact same models, same cases, same screens, same condition when returned to them in box.
One got trade in value, one got $1 or $5 so I couldn't contest it with my credit card provider.
Logged complaints etc with them, got closed with no communication or consultation.
I've not had a problem the couple of times I've used them.
I have 2x S20 thinking of trading but for $95ea per trade in, just not worth the stress. Rather wait for another eBay code similar to the one posted recently.
Like every other Samsung deal - who cares how bad they are.
Google an imei of an S10 that's worth like $5, put that it and don't send them anything. You just want to trigger the bonus trade in credit.
Ok, so the $150 will apply if I trade something in. What if the phone I send is an S8 but not in good working condition? It's worth $10 according to the trade value. Do I still get the $150 from Samsung but I lose the $10 from the trade in for mis grading?
You get charged the difference between the value based on the online for and the value when they assess it. Worst case the say it's worth $0 so we're keeping the $10.
You still get the bonus credit regardless
From their FAQs:
"You have 7 days to return your device to Asurion once you receive your new eligible Galaxy device. If you do not return your device within 14 days, you will be automatically charged a Late Return Fee of up to $60, which is non-refundable. The Security Charge will be held until your device is received and graded. Samsung may also charge you for any additional bonus credit applied to your order."
Has anyone been charged the bonus credit in the past?
I've never been stripped off the bonus credit.
I pre-ordered an S25U using this method though, haven't received anything from Ausurion to send the phone yet. We'll see.
Last year I sent the device (Watch 4 - $100) on the first day.
I got AusPost tracking confirmation that it was delivered to them 2-3 days after I posted, so with 11-12 days to spare.
Then I got charged by Asurion.. I think just the $60, maybe the $100 too? Can't remember.
I tried complaining a million times, but there's no way you can reach them.
Eventually I gave up.. Then weeks later they refunded me the fee. Still, it was a terrible experience.
This year I bought a $30 phone on eBay, entered the IMEI but didn't even bother postig the device. I factored in the $60 in the cost of the phone, and it's still worth it 🤷♂️
I will now sell my S24 on eBay, facebook, gumtree, whatever. But NOT sending it to them.
nah just use them for tradein bonus dicsount and use a $1 trade-in value device.
I just traded my Pixel 5 for a Galaxy S25 with Asurion, processing was snappy, got refunded the security deposit, no issues.
What was the security deposit? The trade in value?
$80. I mainly did it for the bonus trade in of course.
You still get the $150 bonus off total price, even if you dont bother sending in the trade-in phone
Worth upgrading from s23?
ok, but do you know the Trade-in Value for S23
360 for the 128gb version, i think i saw 390 for the 256gb
@bargain4all: CORRECTION, $150 bonus credit is only visible at checkout… and yes, $100 amex offer is only for >$500 spend, so OP's example pricing may not work.
@battler: Im not seeing $150 discount at checkout. Im also using guest login. Do you need to log in with an account to get the $150?
S23 Snapdragon to S24 Exynos, no.
Go straight to S25 Snapdragon
Go straight to S25 Snapdragon
Do not pass GO, do not collect $200
I also want to know. Is it worth to trade in to lower depreciation on the trade in with the s23 from s24 to s25 or jump from s23 to s25
You can trade in a used S24 256 for $510. $11 profit!
(also get longer warranty and a new battery)
you won't get the Amex $100, so it will be $89 out of pocket
You are right :( It won't work with post as well as it will be less than $500 :(
yeah, OP's calc is misleading… it would only work where trade-in value of device is less than $99…
Can you just not get a $20 accessory to make it over $500?
I think Apple SE 4 will be $800 - 900. It will be in the same price bracket as S24 (and they similar product, even same size screen). This may explains why Samsung is providing deep discounts for S24 / S25.
1 vs 3 cameras
60hz vs 120hz screen
cheap LCD vs expensive OLED
4 GB vs 8/12 GB RAM
Yeah, similar products.
SE 4 has not been released yet but it should very competitive. Supposed to have OLED, 8GB+ RAM to run Apple Intelligence and a reasonable camera.
Spigen managed to leak renders of the 'iPhone SE 4' in a clear-case;
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Apple-iPhone-SE-4-pictures-pre…
Has notch, face-id, single camera, action button, and appears to be based off the iPhone 14, but as far as specs go, we'll have to wait and see.
Without too much mucking around and trading an old S8, came to $589 for me, without the Amex voucher. That's a good price
will they take back the bonus of $500 + $150 and any other fee if we don't return the trade-in device? it was $60 admin + trade-in value as I remember but it was long time ago. not sure recently.
Hey everyone, i justasked samsung chat to give me some voucher and they gave $100 voucher code. So if you are planning to buy, it is worth a shot.
Is that in addition to the $150?
Yes :)
Did not work for me, they said use the phone app to get extra 5% off.
What did you ask?
to give me some voucher
I have just tried this and was told no vouchers are available to be used with the S24. Wondering if anyone else has had any luck?
Hey matt, i just said that i am loyal samsung customer. Been using samsung phone and other products for a while and they gave me the code. May be try again with another person.
Just tried again and got a code for $100 voucher - thanks for sharing!
Worked for me, I just said that I've purchased heaps of Samsung products and considering getting the S24. As a loyal customer can they give me a voucher? They ended up giving me a code for a $100 trade in bonus. I don't know if I would have to pay it back if I don't send them a device.
That's what i said as well and they gave it without asking anything further.
I too asked for one and Samsung gave me $100. So my S24 came up to be $473 after a 5% Samsung app discount plus $1 trade in for an S8
The lowest trade in I can find is $10
@thedean: Where do you specify this? I too can't find anything lower than $10 and no option to say the phone is trashed
I had the exact trade-in, 5% discount, and voucher. Sub $500 for this seems like a solid deal.
Sorry if this is a silly question, but just wanted to clarify—does that code only apply to the product you mentioned to the sales representative, or can it be used for other products like the Tab? I was about to purchase the Tab S10 Ultra since it already has a good discount, but the sales representative insisted that no further vouchers were available, no matter what I said. I might try again later.
Not sure as i already tried my code on S24. Hopefully someone can try and tell.
Thanks for sharing I got the $100 code from them as well.
this worked for me I said "hi, I'm thinking about purchasing an s24, are there any vouchers/promo codes you can give me?" they said "Great! We can provide a $100.00 voucher code for the normal e-store with the trade up offer. Would you like to request for this?"
Worked for me too! Almost, almost got away from this one, then that extra $100 off pulled me back in. Thanks OSA and OP.
You are welcome mate. Glad i could help :)
Worked for me! Thanks so much for the tip. This, with the Amex cashback, makes it a killer deal.
Thank you for this comment - it helped get my total price down to $459!
Thanks for the tip bud. It worked for me and final price came at $433.
Is the camera comparable to Pixel 9 Pro (non-XL) / 8? The misses only cares about the camera quality and she doesn't want a big phone… Her options are very limited.
Samsung flagships have great cameras.
Great price, too bad it's exynos. Maybe next year I'll upgrade my mum to a S25 if it's around the 5 to 600 mark.
Just got my S25 256GB with Buds 3 and a case for $650
Daam that's amazing! May I ask how you did that?
Is it just me. Or does the samsung website always freeze on mobile?
Does anyone know what will happen if we trade-in oveseas's device?
You will find out once you put the imei of the phone, so far for me no problem.
Exynos name is tainted from previous generations but I can honestly say my S24 has been great and CPU is not an issue. Real world use is not the same as benchmarks. But if you can get S25 for a similar price you may as well get the newer and theoretically faster phone.
Does it heat up after taking a few photos?
😕
