  • Ok kitchen gurus. Is this a worthwhile inveatment? Or should I stick to my kmart stone teflon jobie?

    • depends how old, how thick, and how non stick your kmart pan is.

these pans are fairly thick for even heart distribution and have a red spot that changes color when it reaches frying temperature.

and loose non stick ability over time for several reasons, one being people using spray oils, or people not washing non stick pans properly.

i’ve got one of the tefal pans and am happy so far in regards to teflon pans, they are reasonable thickness, can be used on induction.

  • Tefal are always deliberately vaugue in their descriptions, creating a lot of confusion.

Is this really Teflon, or ceramic surface? "Titanium" implies ceramic.
Teflon is much better for non-stick, but ceramic is tougher if cooking with bones etc.

While these are good pans, the RRP is a complete joke. I guess that is normal in the cookware business? Same as cosmetics.
What sort of moron would pay $180 for a Telfon pan?

    • Hey my tefal pan is peeling, would it be teflon or ceramic. its a frying pan

      • Would be Teflon (aka PTFE). Their weakness is excessive heat.
If you want hot Asian-style frying, use cast iron or stainless steel.

        • is the one display teflon, cause it looks like stainless steel, the base looks stainless steel

          • @[Deactivated]: Teflon is a coating.

"PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) nonstick coatings are two-coat (primer/topcoat) systems. These products have the highest operating temperature of any fluoroplastic (260°C/500°F), an extremely low coefficient of friction, good abrasion resistance, and good chemical resistance. PTFE is available only in water-based liquid form."

same idea as scapan ….it’s teflon with chunks of other material added, idea being the other material forms tough peaks so it’s scratch resistant, and teflon fills the trough / valleys for non stick.
not as non stick as just teflon, but makes it more scratch resistant.

  • Can anyone recommend some pots with handles that dont get hot when they're on the stove?

  • Full prices at HS are not believable

    this
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Lodge-Skillet-Pre-Seasoned-10-25-I…

need to spend more than $49, for free delivery, here are a few more options

and being a bit on the heavy side, the upper arm workout is complementary :)

  • I get pans from Ikea for $5-15
They last for about a year, then I buy more.

    • Best to get both types. The $5 ones are good for eggs.

Try the OUMBÄRLIG Frying pan $24.99, which is similar to the above Tefal, and will last longer.

      https://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/90292099/

or this $40 one "With Teflon® Professional, our best non-stick coating; for you who place high demands on your pans."

      https://www.ikea.com/au/en/catalog/products/50329900/

Ikea show how much the others are ripping you off.

    • @oshe
      say $10 per year x 10 years = $100
you could get 3-4 cast iron pans for $100, and if looked after they will last you over ten years!
Lodge pans are not made in china
