  • Very Germanic name! ;-)

    • +1

probably just another Chinese import. They're all well and good… if you can get parts.

  • does anyone actually own one of these? Are they any good? Im looking at getting the self propelled one for my dad

    • I bought one basically the same but slightly bigger. Starts easily, runs good. Catcher is rubbish, bag splits easily if it gets too full and you cant get a new catcher. Also the area were the cutting go into the bag is a little small and gets clogged easily if the grass is wet.
Delivery was very quick. If the catcher was better and the hole for the catcher bigger I would buy again.

  • is this made in china with german name..?

    • +7

Yes. The guys made up the name to sound german because that makes it sound high quality.

Do a bit of research and there are long complaint threads in almost every online forum out there. The most common complaints - dodgy products that fall apart, stalling or avoiding refunds, shill bidding, lack of parts.

      Here is a starter:

  • I need a mower but was considering ditching petrol and trying a rechargable one (smallish lawn). Thoughts?

    • +1

Same situation here. Small 18v Ozito brushless @ $199 seems ok for a small yard and likely the one I will get. Aldi 40v brushless for $270 or so back in October looks a much better deal, but don't think it will be coming back for another year.

General consensus in the long whirlpool thread seems to be as long as you mow regularly and don't let the grass get too long, battery mowers are fine.

I have the $799 Victa one from Bunnings and am very satisfied. There's a $499 version but it only comes with one battery and has 18" diameter vs 21" with the $799 model. The extra battery alone is $250 and since i have 350sqm to mow I am very glad I went with the bigger model as I need need 2 batteries to finish the job. They charge in 30 minutes so when one dies the other can fully charge before the other dies. If you have less than 200sqm and mow regularly you could probably get away with the $499 version.

Disclaimer, my lawn is still new so I let it grow longer so it doesn't die, the Victa has a turbo mode that turns on automatically with longer grass so I'd assume that sucks the battery much quicker. Will have to wait a while to see how it performs under normal circumstances, but it had no issues chopping through tall grass.

My motto is buy nice or buy twice when it comes to a lot of products, so I did a lot of research and my findings were to stay away from brands like the one posted here.

      • I’ve got the same mower and highly rate it.
30mim fast charge is amazing for the 82v Victa

    • ryobi

    • Go with the rechargeable, particularly if you already got tools on the same battery platform. Push button start, no petrol stink, quiet. Maintain the mower (sharpen the blade occasionally), you’ll have no complaints.

  • I have the 18’ version good mower for the price

    Deck material: Plastic
    This is a bit concerning…

    • +6

The fact they change their name every other day should be a huge warning sign.

    • Wow that set of reviews is almost unbelievable.

3734 sold…wonder if this is for real

    • since 2013 LOL

  • how long is the warranty
Also do they have service centre in australia ? How to contact the company?

    • +2

      how long is the warranty

About as long as it takes to get your money.

    • Not to mention spare parts. Often these kinds of dealers think a 'comprehensive stock of spare parts' only means they need to keep blades and air filters on hand (which are actually consumables and not parts). Don't bother asking them for any kind of, you know, parts to fix something that's broken.

Got a Victa mower with a Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke engine 13 years ago.
Still starts first go every time and I've only given it 1 oil change in all that time.

Don't buy a cheap mower … it will only cause more trouble than its worth.

    • +1

I would probably recommend a more regular oil change.
I change my husqvarna oil once a year

      • I prefer two-stroke motors. You don't need to keep track of when you last changed the oil, and for my usage, probably uses less oil than changing the oil on a four-stroke yearly. Nor do you need to dispose of the used oil.

Edisons are a terrible company to deal with. Don't waste your money, you'll be better off collecting from council pick up.

  • +3

I bought an electric Baumr-AG lawnmower which was great for about 10 months then the wires to the starting button frayed. Contacted Edisons and they said they'd get a replacement part to me in 4 weeks. 4 weeks went by and they kept delaying it eventually telling me it would take up to 4 months!!

I was pretty fed up and told them that and somehow magically a week after complaining the were able to source the spare part

  • +3

Edisons/AGR are an awful company and I am just glad I paid with my credit card and was able to do a Chargeback on their terrible product! Never again, and will always go out of my way to encourage customers to AVOID this business.

  • +5

Shady company and cheap, crappy products.

  • Eastern surburbs in sydney heaps are abandoned in council cleanup I picked up 2. Clean the carborator and away they go again. brigg and stratton motors and coach roaches are they only things that will survive ww111

  • +2

Don't bother to buy stuff from Edisons, they are absolutely hopeless, false advertising and poor customer service, this will not cut your buffalo grass, just don't bother, if you have a really small lawn and not buffalo grass, maybe yes… I have bought one from them and I am going to return it and get a refund.

    anything BUMRAG is landfill

  • +1

    Baumr-AG = Horse shite..
    Run in the opposite direction..

  • Is this much better then $149 Cheetah 16 from Bunnings?

    Link: https://www.bunnings.com.au/cheetah-16-135cc-cut-and-catch-l…

    • In the same boat as you man, just recently got gifted a brand new mower but you've linked to the Cheetah 16" bunnings job. Only 12 months warranty is a little concerning but should do the job unless you're able to find a nice secondhandy?

    • I think the Cheetah at Bunnings might be a rebadged Sanli mower. Reasonably powerful and decent parts availability but all these cheap mowers have thin steel decks that will rust out within ~3-5 years unless you take precautions. Good value for money overall.

DO NOT BUY FROM EDISONS!!. I purchased a mower off this mob for a family member and it packed it in within two mows. I spent a month on email and on the phone fighting with this company to get a refund, they even took their time with the PayPal refund and tried to give me a credit instead. It took 4 phone calls and ACCC threats before they refunded me. 😡

Save yourself the heartache and DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!

  • Plastic deck .. pass. Wouldn't last long with the way I mow. :)
