  • Currently with OVO - what are the chances of an OVO -> Amaysim port going smoothly? (both use the Optus network)

    • +1

Not good. It's recommended not to transfer from Optus to Optus. It would be better to transfer to another network first and then to Amaysim.

    • +1

It takes longer that’s for sure. Mine took 2 days to port

    • +2

I was on catch which is also on the Optus network and ported over to amaysim last week. Sent in the transfer request at 9am and it was done around 2am. Pretty good considering they said estimates is 3 hours to 2 business days.
Just don’t do it today cause it’s a public holiday.

      • -1

Just checking you didn't mean to type '2pm'?

        • Yeah 2pm, so it took 5 hours

        • -1

          Who negged this?

      • Ported from Optus to OVO on Saturday, it took 6hours, was a shock after recent vf-Kogan ports being around 5-10 minutes.

  • +14

$40 is lots of investment and if the cash back not approve, delay, rejected then it really sxxks

  • So can i buy the $40 sim for a month and swap to someone else next month and still claim the cash back?

      Hi Mr-Am,

      If you wanted to yes.

      • What is the minimum amount of time to be eligible for the cashback? A day? a week? This offer seems good, but don't really care too much for amaysim/optus

        • +1

          Hi Charity,

There isn't a defined time for this, but you would be best to sign up for a plan with amaysim using a new email address.

  • I just called up…. The lady said that porting from Telstra to Optus should only take 1-4 hours.

    • +1

My Telstra to Optus port just before Xmas took 26 hours. It finally went through as I was standing in the queue at the Optus shop…

  • A banner pops up on amaysim contains code to reduce the 10Gb plan to $10. Can the Shopback rep confirms whether this is eligible for cash back?

    • +2

      Hi Prince K,

Cashback will not be eligible - as we have not listed the code.

      Hi Prince K,

Might be late if you've bought a plan already but we've received notice from amaysim this afternoon that this offer qualifies for $30 cashback, and we've listed the code up.

    • Is the code generic?

  • the usual question "Cashback is only valid on new services and for new sign ups/customers (SIM)"

does that mean if you already have a service, but add another new service, the cashback is not valid?

    • +1

      Hi hellohello123,

Yes that's correct. You must be a new amaysim customer to receive cashback.

      • thansk for the quick reply

      • hi! can i sign up for 2 new services and get the cashback twice? ta!

        • Hi unloadmymind,

If you sign up for 2 new services, then you will need to sign up for each service under a separate email address.

      • I use to use Amaysim but changed to Kogan a week ago. Would I consider as a new customer for the cash back?

        • +1

          Hi Hayo,

You'd be considered a new customer if you were to use a different email address.

  • Nice to have

  • If however the service (SIM) is not activated within 30 days of purchase, the sale will be deemed cancelled and cashback will not be awarded.

Was gonna add this to the rotation… maybe not.

  • What is the definition of new customer? I'm not currently with Amaysim but I have been in the past.

    • usually new email address

    • +1

It's a new Amaysim number or port a number to Amaysim.

  • I Have registered email with amaysim with no active sim, which was ported out earlier. Can I use same email to activate new sim since there is no active service with that email. Don't want to keep creating new email accounts.

    • Yes, I did this a few weeks ago for this offer and the cashback is tracked.

    • Hi pluto,

It's better to use a different email.

    • Sorry, yes a new email would be best. The offer I was thinking of was with CashRewards.

  • +5

No deal, kogan $1 deals are better and have less room for error.

    • Is shopback really that unreliable?

      • I had one issue with them, but they resolved it in my favour.

        • +6

I had payment issue when processing the payment with Amaysim in November. Now Amaysim refused to provide cashback although I have the credit card statement to show that it was their system fault.

Shopback only is able to provide a fraction of the cashback as compensation. Now I need to escalate the case Amaysim's management or report it to the authorities. (I hate to do this as it is wasting my time!)

Anyway, I won't trust Amaysim any more as they are liars and don't admit all the objective evidence.

    • Kogan $1 seems to be gone.

      • +2

They come and go. I'd rather outlay 1-5-10 and not deal with the possibility of not getting my money back

    • +3

This is not a deal because some people might lose $40 instead of gaining $10? I feel like your definition of deal is a bit awry. You shouldn't be comparing this deal to other hypothetical deals, it's not like it's either/or. The comparison is between this deal and getting the phone plan without any cashback, or not getting any money.

      • +1

This would be the opposite of a deal if missed out on cashback. Anything involving cashback is risky.

  • So if I, who has purchased amaysim earlier, uses a new email ID to buy another sim, will I get cashback?

40 AUD is a lot to risk

    • Hi trinkasharma,

Yes that's how amaysim defines a new customer.
