Does any one know If I purchase Domayne Gift Cards and buy the phone from Harvey Norman, can I claim TRS?

    • +6

      Yes, of course you can.

The total is the relevant part, not the method of payment.

      • thanks, just confirming you have tried this personally?

        • +1

          Yes, many times.
You will receive a refund based on the GST calculated on $928.
          FYI that's $928 x (1/11) = ~$84.36

All AMEX promotions are statement credits. It will not appear on your invoice.

            @[Deactivated]: thanks mate, legend.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: sorry mate, just one more question, does it matter who pays for the gift card? Does it have to be paid by the person claiming it?

            • @[Deactivated]: Payment can be tendered by anyone.
It is not TRS' concern who pays for it - partner, stranger, parents, neighbours - again that's not relevant to them.
As long as the invoices total $300 or more per ABN, you should be fine.

Note - different Harvey Norman/Domayne stores may have dissimilar ABNs.

Just keep in mind that if claiming more than $1000 that the invoice needs to include your personal details on it.

              • @[Deactivated]: thank you very much, very helpful.

I am sure Harvey Norman will prepare the invoices with personal details on it.

                • @[Deactivated]: Does it have to be paid by the person claiming it?-If the invoices have name on it,need to be the person claiming it
also over $1000,name of the passenger must list on the invoice

      thanks, updated

  • Is this the cheapest going for AU stock at boxing day?

    • +1

      yep, I think so

      • Hmm. In stock and open til 6pm at the local.

        • you can also domayne gift cards and redeem at harvey norman

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: then lose the extra year warranty you get with amex

            • @RogueWolf: what do you mean?

              • @[Deactivated]: You get extended warranty after the Samsung two years with most credit cards these days.
As long as you pay for the item using that credit card, such as Amex, Westpac Black, etc, etc

              • @[Deactivated]: with amex you get 1 year extended warranty on electricals etc, so if you use amex to purchase gift cards then buy the phone with the gift cards you wont get the extended warranty if you purchased directly through amex

                • @RogueWolf: Do you know if Amex extended warranty works if you split over multiple Amex cards?

                  • @Fobsessive: It doesn’t. You need to pay in full.

Not all amex cards have extended warranty

Honestly, for $30 more I'd muuuuuuuuch rather deal with Domayne rather then Allphones if something goes wrong. Plenty of dodgy stories about Allphone's parent company on OzB.

Did not check that post tbh, I just saw the Domayne offer on my CC and then went to Domayne website and posted here

  • Do they have s9 plus ?

    • Yes.. $ 1,079

Is the offer redeemable for online purchase? Closest store to Sydney is Gosford.

    • You know you can search for items on the website, right?

      • +1

I think that's how he found out the closest store that has it is in Gosford …

As for the online question, the answer is yes

        • +2

I was replying to the original question. I mean how do they not just click on the link and search s9 plus to get their answer?

  • +1

    Wait for s10

    • +1

And fork out at least $1,500…

    • +1

      I'm waiting for the s12.

The s10 is close so and the s12 isn't far away.

  • Seems to beat out the grey import prices eg at Logan by just a little… Anyone doing the au version locally at a better price that HN/Domayne can price match?

Just a heads up I've had this phone for about 6 months now and it's the first samsung galaxy I actually quite hate. I get pretty frustrated with its shitty features regularly.

    • +1

      Like?

      • I've had the S9+, literally no issues except for the rare stutter or freeze.

The only shitty feature i would say is the Bixby buttom but that can be fixed so easily anyways 🤷

    • +6

Just a heads up, I've been on ozbargain for nearly 5 years now and it's such a sweeping statement and useless review I've read on a mobile phone that I actually quite hate. I get pretty frustrated with the vagueness and the pointlessness of such a post.

Like… the lack of an Apple logo on the back?

  • If anyone travelling to NZ, currently NZD799 there (https://www.cheapies.nz/node/18364)

    • NZ may have different bands. I noticed today that for my old Samsung Galaxy S5, they had different model numbers for those in NZ compared to AUS.

    • Would be cheaper if you purchased this deal and used TRS travelling to NZ

  • HOly CRAP…THATS……….che….expensive as
    just bought a 9+ for $899

    • Was that the JB Hifi gift card deal a few days ago or something else? Also, yeah I think it's just the title of this deal that doesn't make sense, because $928 certainly isn't a bargain, but $788 is at least closer to one.

      • JB, HN, TGG and OW have all dropped it to $930ish now that the recent $200 gift card offer has expired, although remains to be seen whether that becomes the new 'normal' price.

I thought JB's $938 with a $200 gift card deal from a few days ago made this deal's 'never seen cheaper' claim questionable, but couldn't establish whether their gift card was a debit card or a JB one. Perhaps someone could confirm.

        • It was definitely a gift card, but even then surely it was still a better deal than all the others posted since then. I mean compared to this it was an extra $160 for a $200 gift card. A deal like that (20% off) on it's on a deal would do really well on this site. Plus it wasn't limited to Amex customers.

I guess I'm just confused why anyone is getting excited over what seems like a worse deal to me. Maybe because the other deal was for a very limited window where the price drop and gift card offer overlapped, and not many saw it.

          • @mekktor: This is darned expensive.

i got an S9 for the missus from the recent optus Harvey Norman deal.

After $400 Eftpos card and $167 netflix value and 10% off normal plan price, the S9 only cost me $600.

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/423146

Normal plan price was $65 + $10 handset price monthly for Unlimited calls and text and 20 GB data.

10% off the $65 +10= $68.5 every month for 24 months plus $400 eftpos card plus $167 Netflix value

  • I'm so tempted but I'll wait for note 9 or even plus to come down.

  • Edit: Nevermind. I must have misread the site.

  • This puts it in the OnePlus6T territory now, for circa $750. I would still go for the oneplus for its bigger battery, fingerprint scanner, better scores, dual camera and stock android experience. But then again, I can't buy a oneplus 6T in oz at the $750 mark that it retails for in other countries.

Found some selling at around the $800 mark here and also here

      • Amazing! Thanks!
