Too expensive, Rupert. $10/month and I'm interested.

    • +4

Yes. And I'd go as high as $15/month for a 4K package.

      • Well keep enjoying your free to air sport at 720p at a shitty bitrate for the next decade or so then, Rupert.

  • Although with contract, normal price at Telstra:

    https://www.telstra.com.au/tv-movies-music/foxtel-from-telst…

    • Contract + install for Telstra

      • One on their site doesn't include HD

        • Because it’s advertised as $29. HD is additional $10.

    Box Fee :(

    • +1

Never met a box that didn’t come with some kind of fee.

Would Kayo cover most sports Foxtel offer?

    $25 for 2 users

    https://kayosports.com.au/

    • +5

I'd say considering this ad mentions 50+ sports and the Kayo site mentions 50+ sports, Kayo would literally offer every sport you can view through Foxtel (with the added benefit of it being a streaming service).

Really gotta praise Foxtel for Kayo, really seems like a step in the right direction.

      • +1

Only thing missing from Kayo is Eurosport and the EPL Channels.

Kayo seems great, except on the first gen Telstra TV the app there is horrible.

    • Foxtel gives you access to the Bein Sports Connect app via your Foxtel login. Comes in handy when a game is not shown on the 3 Bein channels. From what i know, you don't get this with Kayo.

  • Foxtel Platinum HD is free for 1 month direct from Foxtel website. That deal was published some weeks ago in OZB.

  • +4

Foxtel must be struggling against Netflix and Stan and Amazon which all together still cheaper

      Sports

      • +1

Until it's all on free view TV.

        • Or FB Live 😀

  • I am interested in the 4K sports channel, not sure if this is only for Australian cricket matches.

  • About the same price for Kayo and Netflix (ad free). That’s before you start looking at account sharing and discounted iTunes cards.

  • They went with foxmeerkat and not meerfox? Marketing team needs some work

  • Wasn't going to get it anyway… but took a look:

"Your address is not compatible with the iQ4K box.
iQ4K is only compatible with a satellite connection. It looks like your address does not support this type of connection. Your iQ4K box(es) have been switched to the iQ3 box(es)."

Freestanding house, perfect line of site etc… um….

If you are currently on HFC i'm pretty sure foxtel has to vacate it sometime in the future as they sold it to NBN

      • So their contracts don't allow them to install satellite in a HFC area yet???

        • Their preference is HFC, cheaper to install (free if NBN HFC is already connected and I believe NBN has to pay them when they disconnect and/or you move to NBN).

        • I have Telstra Cable and had Foxtel via cable 2 years ago. I just signed up and was told I have to agree to a dish as Foxtel cannot use the HFC any more for new accounts. Annoying but no way around it. We are yet to be switched to HFC NBN. It is not happening till April next year.

    • Makes no sense given that the iQ3 runs off the satellite also

  • Wait so how much does iq4 cost then ??

  • I actually wouldn't mind this if they had another pack instead of sport for like $35

    • They do. Check Foxtel from telstra

  • It's for 12 months only fyi

  • Kayo is the way now for sports, unless your internet is incapable.

    • if you have high speed internet, then IPTV is the way to go. Check out Pear IPTV. 10000 channels globally for 120 euros for the year.

  • yesterdays company that rubbished way 2 many punters in the past.

  • I wonder if they can offer the same package but not HD for 29 a month? It would match the Telstra price

    • Telstra price still has install fee and 12-month contract.

  • Just got NBN FTTC 50/20, playing around with Kayo on the Telstra TV2. Surprisingly impressed with watching the Cricket and NBA on there HD quality wise however nothing beats having the faster channel flipping and guide of the Foxtel Satellite box, plus to make sure it's always live and with the iq4k box included can't wait for the 4k content. Seems it skips/buffers throughout a broadcast and you're ultimately delayed by the end with Kayo too.. Was doing picture in picture with Kayo and channel 7 with the cricket today to test… I'll take that pun..

So, signed up to this and delayed install date (confirmed with live chat Foxtel) to March when AFL, NRL, F1 and MotoGP seasons start and NBA playoffs time. Magic price, thanks a heap for the offer!

    • They let you delay install date till March ?

      • Online signup and if you choose the tech (even if you can self install with equipment already present) you then can choose the tech installer date far into the future. I was told this by the Foxtel live chat! And it worked they had appointments available in March.

        • Nice. I’d look into that.
Although have the points ready to go cables and all

          • @Danstar: Did a calculation, this years 3 months free works out a little cheaper than this deal. I'll hold out till next year see if they have that deal again (and the way Foxtel is going, I'm sure they'll have some good deals to try retain some sort of customer base).

  • So I had the 3 month platinum deal but is now up. Foxtel retention team say they wont do this deal for me. Do you think I can cancel and then re up on the new deal?

    • +1

Think you have to wait 3-6 months before re-signing up on a new deal (from memory)

  • I CANT SEEM TO FIND AN EXPIRY DATE ON THIS DEAL! MY CURRENT DEAL WILL END NEXT BOTH.

and also do you have to be a new customer? confirmed need to be new costumer i would say it would be tied to address so i guess i cant sign the mrs up?
