  • They had this before and simply increased the prices of the other leg to the extent you didnt save much at all

    • yer, fuel prices are quite high it would probably be cheaper not to run the flight at all these days.

Although, Mel-Syd wasn't in the last sale so hopefully it will be $38.95+$1. I am chasing a Perth leg which should work out to $75 each way (I hope)

    • Your right they did it this time as well.

Perth to Melbourne was between 88 and 98 dollars…..as soon as the special started it was $149 approx….

It just seems as if Tiger want to upset people. It is the complete opposite of every other business I know.

  • Every one I talk to says tiger is never reliable but as I've never tried them out myself I'm unsure. Have any of you guys got to your destination on the same day without many problems?

    • Flew with them last year to Hobart and back. No problems while going there. Had to do a web check-in for my wifey as we only wanted to pay for 1 extra bag but the checkout girl gave us seats together when I did my check-in there. Followed all their rules and everything was great. Coming back, the flight was delayed but apart from that, everything else was just as you expect. After all, we get for what we pay.

      • If you going from A to B (no transfer), then its great. But If you have to have a transfer in between it can be bit doggy. I flew with them several times from PER - SIN, SIN - SHZ the service was great. But never tried a domestic flight with them yet.

I went Tiger last year and as long as you read and follow there rules you are fine.

The flights were on time but that is obviously a case by case basis but if they wont you to check in 2 hrs before take off dont be even 1 minute late or you are stuffed.

I think they have lots of extra fees these days in reqards to how you pay , weight of luggage and allocation of seats….and what ever you do dont ring tiger direct I am pretty sure thats the biggest fee of all.

Worse airline… flew with them on 3 separate occasions, delay and cancelled flights. Never again use tiger airlines…

    • Indeed. Delays and cancellations, not worth it.

  • IMO, Tiger's punctuality has declined over the years. I remember in 2009, i flew at least 2 times and sometimes 3 times a month, all with Tiger, and they were supurb, on time every time.

Starting from 2010, their flights got worse and worse with more and more being delayed.
Now just flying twice with tiger this year, got both of my flights canceled….

Do yourself a favor, choose virgin, because if your flight gets canceled and you must get home, then you WILL fork out $100-130 one way back on another airline, due to emergency booking.

If you like playing Russian roulette, then go ahead book tiger!

Flew with Tiger a few months ago. Everything was on time and fine.

  • Have flown with them several times. Always get there in the end - take my Kindle and some good music to handle the delay. Don't use if you are in a hurry to get to your destination! ;)

Melbourne has always run late - between an hour and three; Adelaide has been around 15-20 minutes late. Flights later in the day seem to be more delayed due to earlier delays elsewhere…

I've had 15-20 flights with Tiger. Delayed by an hour twice, but that's not the end of the world. I did have one flight cancelled 3 hours before I was due at the airport, and they offered to rebook me the next day (but I took the refund instead).

I've heard the horror stories, so I guess I've been lucky for the most part. But I know what I'm buying, so I wont choose Tiger if it's vital I arrive on time.

I'll only choose them if they're much cheaper than a more reliable airline at the time I need to fly.

  • from my experience, usually it's on time if you buy early morning ticket (say, 6.00am)

maybe the delay in later part of the day because delay in the morning will never get your evening flight on time because they basically use the same plane whole day…
