Probably want to fix unfortunate typo in island name.

  • Surely a BOGOF special = 2 for 1, not 1 for 1?

  • Ok, so they apply to the discount to the fare component only, not to the taxes - well admission fee. I get 2 people return for $82.50.

I don't mind the admission fee if it is actually used to provide amenities on the island. But that's lacking. For example: Even the shuttle bus to Geordie bay is now pay for and there aren't any fish cleaning stations for day trippers. Methinks it's just another government cash grab with just a fraction of the takings actually spent on the island.

As to this promotion: I understand they exclude the school holidays, but excluding all of December makes it useless for me.

Did this last time we were in Perth. It is a nice place to wander around and the Quokka's are gorgeous and hilarious.

    A couple of things:
    a) I would go on the first ferry over in the morning and leave on the last ferry to get the most out of the day.
    b) Bicycles were quite expensive to rent for the day, but they are the best way to get around - particularly if you are willing to fork out for the power assist ones.
    c) The Hop on/Hop off is reasonable value but the timetables can be a bit of a "guide line" only. We also found out the ferry and the bus didn't really line up when we went there. By the time you buy the ticket and get to the starting point you wave bye, bye to the bus and then walk to the next stop because the next bus is 1/2 an hour afterwards.
    d) the last ferry leaves PROMPTLY on time. Try not to be on the bus just before the ferry leaves, it may be running late and then you have to run down to the ferry as the bus stop is a fair way away.
    e) The toilets were, surprisingly, quite good and clean - even for the more remote stops.
    f) If you do decide to do the hop on/hop off you won't be able to do all the stops because of the 1/2 hour between buses. I recommend you do the full loop and take note of places you want to get off then work out how many you can get in before the end of the day.
    g) If you do decide to walk between stops set a reasonable pace as it can take the 1/2 hour to do the walk. (Keep checking time and distance to go).

Have fun people. It it not hard to get a picture of a Quokka, they practically mug you.

  • I've lived in Perth for over 30 years, yet never been to Rottnest.

The prices are just ridiculous, and offers like this are decent but ultimately useless for the majority of people who work Monday to Friday (not including the February dates next year).

The recent incident with the jetty collapsing is a bit worrying also, although I don't know all of the details.

Ummm.. Just tried putting in dates for February and discount doesn't seem to be applying at Checkout? Is the discount only valid for November 5-7, or am I doing something wrong?
