Or get it for $179.10 using PICKUPTEN through eBay US.

    • using the same store link?

will there be a shipping fee charged?

      • The same $15 shipping fee applies.

        • not if you got ebay plus

if you buy the via the US site code, then mostly likely your account would not have ebay plus (since it is a US ebay account)

          • @pinkybrain: Oops missed the eBay plus. Apologies

            • @Taegukgi: yep, so this is actually more cheaper..

              with the USA code

              it works out to be…

              $199 - 10% + $15 shipping fee = $194.1

  • Waiting for another 20% off Computer Alliance eBay.

    https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/assassinscreed/

Assassins Creed Odyessey is free with this SSD.

    • I contacted them, they have told me they have ran out of codes and Samsung haven't sent them anymore

      • Wasn't there something about the terms and conditions previously which said to contact Samsung directly if the seller didn't have any codes left…?

        • +2

Yeah I sent an email to samsung and got an out of office reply.

    • I didn't get a code with either 1TB 970 pro or my 2Tb evo :(

*Nvm was not a "participating retailer"

  • price gap seems to be closing between sata version and nvme …. though 1tb is more appealing if going through effort of moving data to new drive.

  • Dang and I bought one months ago when it was 200 plus.. and a free game worth 50 bucks

    • so which deal would you prefer?

      what game was it?

  • Can this be used as external drive with enclosure? Will it affect the read and transfer speed if used in this way?

    • +3

It would be pointless even if you could, it uses the m.2 slot so it needs to be plugged directly into the motherboard. Any external drive would then only be run into a sata or usb 3 slot which at this point the speed of buying the m.2 drive is negated.

In short absolutely don't bother buying this unless you're plugging it directly into a motherboard m.2 slot.

You'd need an "M-Key" nvme enclosure like this:

      https://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/mydigitalssd-m2x-portable-…

      or this:

      https://www.ramcity.com.au/accessories/external-drive-enclos…

Speed would be limited to just under 1000MB/s. I have a few of these gumstick drives in different systems and am thinking of getting one to make drive backup/restoring easier. As a dedicated external you could get away with a cheaper drive due to the performance cap though.

There are also thunderbolt3 enclosure options that would give full speed but they likely cost more than the drive itself :)

1st one is usb 3.1 gen 2 so 1000MB/s is possible

  • Just bought one to use in my late 2013 MacBook Pro. Hopefully it all works out with the Sintech adapter.

  • Are the Assassin's Creed codes still provided with these?

    • +1

      FYI

Samsung did not supply us anything like an adequate number of codes for these and they ran out within a couple of weeks. We are not happy with Samsung over this and have requested more codes. They are dragging their feet and until we actually receive codes, we can't promise any further sales will include the code/game.

Feel free to hassle Samsung over this issue.

I really wish I had knew this before I bought one this morning….

  • Sata ssds like 860 EVO still more bang for the buck with roughly the same performance in day to day use like boot and game load times… Don't see why I should pay $189 when I can get a 500GB 860 for around $110…

  • No this one. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/410847, the 970 is not worth it unless you often transfer large file sizes. My point is that in day to day usage such as load times, and general file transfer you won't notice the difference.

    • If you are comparing M.2 SATA SSDs with Evo 860 then I agree there is no point is spending more… but with M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (if your computer has that slot), it's a whole new ballgame.

      • +1

Not really. If you're moving around large files daily, it's definitely worth it, but generally it's not going to make a noticeable difference like upgrading to an SSD from a HDD. See here.

        • Most people who will buy the NVME ssd are going to install it as an OS drive..

So how likely are most people going to moving around large files on an OS drive anyway?

          • +1

@pinkybrain: Yeah in my experience as OS drives 970 evo is definitely faster than 850 pro. Difference is not as big as ssd vs hdd but still very noticeable for me.

  • If you go from SSD to nvme or m.2 will you see any difference?
What can you expect to feel? Win10 and normal office use

    • About 1 second on boot times, gaming doubt you will notice.
