Just stumbled upon this current campaign for the Velocity Global Wallet Card. For every $2 you load onto the card, you get 1 Velocity Point, up to 1000 Points or $2000 loaded during the promotional period.

Because you simply have to load the money and not actually spend it to get your points, simply transfer the money off the card and back into your bank account once the reward points have been given. It's essentially 1000 free velocity points if you can spare $2000 and have it sit in a separate account for a little while.

Unfortunately it's only for new customers who are yet to activate or receive a Global Wallet Card. Also make sure to use the Bank Transfer or Bpay load methods to avoid paying the 1% surcharge that comes with loading via a debit card.

Terms & Conditions:

    I am a dumb a** with, and slow in adopting, new technology.
    Am I correct in thinking that this is a card like a debit card that can be used as such, and not necessary to have an app nor use mobile phone etc for this?

      You're right. It's a pre-paid debit card which uses your own money you put on the card. You also don't need to use a mobile phone or an app to operate it.

    $1.95 withdrawal fee from ATM.
    Anyone know what the limits of withdrawal are?

      I would say if there was a limit, it would be the ATM's limit as I believe there is no limit set on the Global Wallet. Also theoretically you should be able to use a debit card of any kind to load up the Global Wallet, unless the debit card has restrictions that block using it to send money to other financial institutions (It looks like all Debit Gift Cards have this restriction). There is nothing limiting in the Global Wallet PDS about these 2 topics.

        I've never used it but I'm guessing ATM is the only way to get money back out? No online access similar to online banking?

          You can get money off the card by bank transfer as well as ATM withdrawal.

            @melbourne guy: Ah sweet, so it would just be a matter of sign up, transfer money in, get the points and transfer back. 1k points for 5-10 minutes mucking around seems worth it.

    I just went through a stack of financial plastic cards that I have, and discovered that I got the card ages ago and was waiting for an activation deal before I activated. And so maybe "good things come to those who wait". Thanks OP:)
